A comparison of proportional-integral-derivative (PID) controller tuning for a 2x2 Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) water treatment plant model is presented. The PID tuning procedures are based on Multi-Objective Grey Wolf Optimizer (MOGWO) and Multi-Objective Grouped Grey Wolf Optimizer (MOGGWO) are performed under two different initial conditions. The tuning procedure is structured as a multi-objective optimization problem with four objective functions, the integral time-squared error is minimized in each output response, and the integral of the control actions is minimized in each input. MOGWO is a metaheuristic based on the hunting behavior of grey wolves, following the hierarchy and leadership procedures that these animals have, while the proposed MOGGWO is a new version proposed in this study with two different groups with different functionalities. The performance was analyzed by 50 runs based on statistical metrics. MOGGWO can find more local minima since its Pareto front is more dispersed than that found by MOGWO.

The fact that cardiovascular disease (CVD) is a major cause of death worldwide highlights the significance of accurate prediction for successful preventative and treatment measures. Machine learning algorithms, which use the analysis of vast patient data to reveal hidden patterns and risk variables, have recently come to light as potential techniques for CVD prediction. This study intends to analyse how machine learning (ML) techniques are used in CVD prediction and evaluate how well they perform in comparison to conventional approaches. The study makes use of a sizable patient cohort's medical history, demographic data, and clinical factors in a complete dataset. Predictive models are built using a variety of machine learning algorithms, including support vector machine (SVM), gradient boosting, K-nearest neighbours, naive Bayes classifier, and logistic regression. To find the most important factors influencing CVD risk, feature selection techniques are used. Metrics like accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, and the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve are used to assess how well the machine learning models work. The outcomes are contrasted with well-known risk prediction models and clinical guidelines in order to assess the added value of machine learning methods. This work intends to improve CVD prediction capabilities and offer useful insights for better risk assessment and management strategies by utilizing the power of machine learning. © 2023 IEEE.

The social infrastructure has to be maintained economically and efficiently because the scale is huge, maintenance budgets of local governments are strict, and the number of skillful maintenance workers declines. Optimal policies which consider the characteristics of social infrastructure maintenance are needed for economical and efficient maintenance. We have established such optimal maintenance policies utilizing the cumulative damage model and apply them to the solution of actual problem of breakwater in a port on the Sea of Japan. Although it is known that the deterioration of breakwaters is Weibull distribution, it is not easy to calculate the optimum policy in the case of the Weibull distribution. This problem is solved by using the approximate formula, the optimum policies are obtained, and we can show that the actual policies undergone by the local government are appropriate because the same policies are obtained theoretically. © 2022 International Society of Science and Applied Technologies

This paper presents a thorough experimental evaluation of an extended Gaussian Mixture Probability Hypothesis Density filter which is able to provide state estimates for the maintenance of a multi-robot formation, even when the communication fails and the tracking data are insufficient for maintaining a stable formation. The filter incorporates, firstly, absolute poses exchanged by the robots, and secondly, the geometry of the desired formation. By combining communicated data, information about the formation, and sensory detections, the resulting algorithm preserves accuracy in the state estimates despite frequent occurrences of long-duration sensing occlusions, and provides the necessary state information when the communication is sporadic or suffers from short-term outage. Differently from our previous contributions, in which the tracking strategy has only been tested in simulation, in this paper we present the results of experiments with a real multi-robot system. The results confirm that the algorithm enables robust formation maintenance in cluttered environments, under conditions affected by sporadic communication and high measurement uncertainty. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

The issue of security in the use of payment-based technology is considered essential to continue to be studied because of the impact of advances in technology and information. One of the payment methods that is developing in Indonesia is m-fintech. Therefore, this study analyzes the aspects driving the continuance intention of m-fintech payments, namely knowledge, perceived security, and perceived usefulness. This study uses a questionnaire as the primary data to test the hypothesis. Questionnaires were distributed online to 357 consumers using m-fintech payments in Jabodetabek. Therefore, the sampling technique used is purposive. Partial Least Square-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with SmartPLS 4.0.8.9 software is used to answer the hypothesis. The results of this study prove that knowledge, perceived security, and perceived usefulness are good predictors in explaining the continuance intention of m-fintech payments. In detail, knowledge influenced perceived security, and perceived usefulness influenced the continuance intention of m-fintech payments. Finally, perceived security and usefulness affect the continuance intention of m-fintech payments. These findings contribute to m-fintech payment companies continuing to improve the security of m-fintech payments in line with improvements in technology and information. © 2023 IEEE.

The Online food delivery services (OFDS) have been extensively utilized, especially in developing nations like Indonesia on new normal Covid-19 situation. The present research aimed to utilize the “Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology-2” (UTAUT2) in affecting the customer satisfaction and loyalty (CSL) in OFDS in Indonesia post-COVID-19 pandemic. The 253 data was taken to answer the 65 indicators. Structural equation modeling (SEM) indicates that hedonic motivation exerts the most significant influence on CSL, succeeded by price. This study unexpectedly found that usability factors, including performance expectation habit, did not influence customer happiness and CSL in OFDS. This research strongly provides a theoretical framework for OFDS practitioners, IT developers, and scholars. The present research can be modified and expanded to different nations to examine the determinants of customer CSL in OFDS.

Optimizing MapReduce efficiency and reducing complexity with enhanced particle Swarm Optimization (MR-MPSO)

Big data's explosive growth poses serious data management difficulties, especially given the data's unequal distribution across massive databases. Because of this mismatch, traditional software systems are less effective, which leads to complex and wasteful data processing. We provide MapReduce-Modified Particle Swarm Optimization (MR-MPSO), a unique optimization technique, to tackle this problem. This strategy not only improves the administration of enormous datasets but also tackles the complexity issue of data imbalance. The MR framework is used to handle large-scale data processing tasks, with MR-MPSO driving the map and reducing functions. Our technique combines adaptive inertia weight with Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) to improve the accuracy and efficiency of optimization for 10 unimodal and multimodal benchmark functions. MR-MPSO outperforms four optimization algorithms—MR K-means, MR bat, MR whale, and regular MR-on measures such as fitness value mean, median, and standard deviation. Furthermore, MR-MPSO regularly enhances throughput and average I/O rate, especially in complex write operations, with gains ranging from 1.4 % to 28.9 % in throughput and 2.1 % to 17.7 % in I/O rate over typical MR approaches. © 2025

This paper presents the design and analysis of an extremum seeking (ES) controller for scalar static maps in the context of infinite-dimensional dynamics governed by the 1D Euler-Bernoulli (EB) beam Partial Differential Equation (PDE). The beam is actuated at one end (using position and moment actuators). The map’s input is the displacement at the beam’s uncontrolled end, which is subject to a sliding boundary condition. Notably, ES for this class of PDEs remains unexplored in the existing literature. To compensate for PDE actuation dynamics, we employ a boundary control law via a backstepping transformation and averaging-based estimates for the gradient and Hessian of the static map to be optimized. This compensation controller leverages a Schrödinger equation representation of the EB beam and adapts existing backstepping designs to stabilize the beam. Using the semigroup and averaging theory in infinite dimensions, we prove local exponential convergence to a small neighborhood of the unknown optimal point. Finally, simulations illustrate the effectiveness of the design in optimizing the unknown static map. Copyright © 2025, The Authors. All rights reserved.
