Coffee is one of the plantation crops that has long been a cultivated plant in Indonesia. The classification of coffee fruit maturity manually still has several weaknesses and requires a long process, has low accuracy and is inconsistent, this is because the determination is made subjectively by coffee farmers. As for the classification of coffee fruit maturity levels automatically, it can be faster with objective determination, therefore the use of image processing is relatively easier, faster, and based on a quantified descriptive assessment to determine coffee maturity. Image Processing is a method used to process or manipulate images in 2-dimensional form. In the classification process, there are many methods used to obtain classification of objects based on training data. One of the algorithms used for the classification process is K-Nearest Neighbor (KNN). KNN is a classification technique for objects based on training data that is the closest or has similar characteristics to the object. KNN includes supervised learning algorithms, where the results of the new query instance are classified based on the majority of the categories in K-Nearest Neighbors (K-NN). The finding indicated that class classification of ripe and unripe were 88,24 % and 100% respectively with 93,33% accuracy level. © 2023 IEEE.

Rainfall frequency analysis using event-maximum rainfalls – An event-based mixture distribution modeling approach

Rainfall frequency analysis, an essential work for water resources management, is often conducted by using the annual maximum rainfall series. For rainfall stations with short record lengths and outliers presence, the use of annual maximum series for rainfall frequency analysis may yield design rainfall estimates of higher uncertainties. Moreover, for regions with cyclostationary climate patterns, the annual maximum rainfalls may be caused by different prevalent storm types, which differ in terms of their occurrence frequency and storm rainfall characteristics. In this study, we propose a novel event-maximum-rainfall-based mixture distribution modeling approach for rainfall frequency analysis. By considering the event-maximum rainfalls of individual storm events, the sample size for parameter estimation increases, and the uncertainty of design rainfall estimates reduces. Mixture distribution modeling enables a thorough investigation of the contributing probabilities of different storm types to the annual maximum rainfall. Through rigorous stochastic simulation, we demonstrated the superiority of the proposed approach over the conventional annual maximum rainfall approach. The proposed approach was applied to four representative rainfall stations in Taiwan, and the results revealed that the proposed approach is more robust than the conventional annual maximum rainfall approach. The results provide insights into the contributions of individual storm types to the annual maximum rainfall. © 2023 The Authors

Based on the achievements regarding the 2020 targets, the Renewable Energy Directive established a new, higher target for 2030, reflecting a significant increase of interest for renewable energy sources (RES). As a result, various new software simulation packages, featuring models of RES, have been developed and being used in academia as well as in industry for research, educational or training purposes. In this paper Wind turbine (WT) characteristics and wind speed data obtained from a commissioned wind farm in Cyprus are used to implement a simulation model in two different software programs featuring RES simulation capabilities. Power System Computer Aided Design (PSCAD) is used to investigate the electrical power output of a WT model, and KYAMOS software is used to investigate the modelling of the blades, the resulting primary torque and the resulting rotor rotational speed. The investigation result novelty is the establishment of the ability of the proposed, under development, software program to satisfy the three required characteristics. Therefore, Deviation from measured values of the turbine characteristics is observed for both programs, user interface and blade modelling, and the potential of integrating results of one software into the other is investigated. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper aims to analyze passenger needs for network connectivity on the ship during traveling at the shipping line of Indonesian XYZ Company. The current connectivity infrastructure on board is supported by VSAT technology, but limited only for the ship's crew. Meanwhile, the passengers have difficulty to connect mobile cellular services while sailing. Therefore, providing the service over such a connectivity to the passengers can be an added values for the XYZ Company. This study uses Kano Model of the 11 attributes, and collect a primary data from 138 passengers sailing at PQR ship. It results recommendations portraying the passenger's need for shipping telecommunications during the sailing trip. © 2021 IEEE.

This working-in-progress paper aims to present a three-dimensional reconstruction using aerial images in different environments. The experiments were conducted with aircraft in both external and internal settings, starting with image acquisition, followed by the application of specific photogrammetry software—both commercial and open-source—and concluding with a qualitative evaluation of the results.

Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) are widely applied in various industries and fields. Because they use a variety of rotor types, from single rotors to multi-rotors, UAVs offer a wide array of functions. However, continuously rotating rotors can be dangerous if they accidentally encounter foreign objects or bare hands. Therefore, non-rotor UAVs are the focus of discussion and modification in the present study. Non-rotor UAVs do not contain visible rotor mechanical components. Compared with the development of popularized multirotor UAVs, that of non-rotor UAVs is challenging in terms of structure and flight control. To address this challenge, wind tunnel structure models were developed in this study for different levels of aerodynamic force, and computer-aided engineering was used to conduct structural and flow field analyses to determine the key elements that reinforce non-rotor UAV structures. The research results revealed that the thickness and fillet design at the joint of the non-rotor UAV aerodynamic wind tunnel system were crucial factors influencing the system's performance. Motor rotors can be embedded inside support structures to reduce airflow turbulence in the wind tunnel. © 2021 Institute of Physics Publishing. All rights reserved.

Collaborative Robotics is one of the high-interest research topics in the area of academia and *** has been progressively utilized in numerous applications,particularly in intelligent surveillance *** allows the deployment of smart cameras or optical sensors with computer vision techniques,which may serve in several object detection and tracking *** tasks have been considered challenging and high-level perceptual problems,frequently dominated by relative information about the environment,where main concerns such as occlusion,illumination,background,object deformation,and object class variations are *** order to show the importance of top view surveillance,a collaborative robotics framework has been *** can assist in the detection and tracking of multiple objects in top view *** framework consists of a smart robotic camera embedded with the visual processing *** existing pre-trained deep learning models named SSD and YOLO has been adopted for object detection and *** detection models are further combined with different tracking algorithms,including GOTURN,MEDIANFLOW,TLD,KCF,MIL,and *** algorithms,along with detection models,help to track and predict the trajectories of detected *** pre-trained models are employed;therefore,the generalization performance is also investigated through testing the models on various sequences of top view data *** detection models achieved maximum True Detection Rate 93%to 90%with a maximum 0.6%False Detection *** tracking results of different algorithms are nearly identical,with tracking accuracy ranging from 90%to 94%.Furthermore,a discussion has been carried out on output results along with future guidelines.

COVID-19 has struck the Philippines in December 2019 and has brought great panic to the country's healthcare system. In a short period of time, the number of infected increased exponentially. Hospitals are suddenly filled with patients infected by the virus to the extent that patients wait for hours to days to be admitted. Others die on the road even before finding hospitals that can accommodate them. The hospitals and the country's healthcare system must consider this increasing demand to serve patients fully. Patient planning is commonly used in other countries to maximize bed allocation. A recent study using Bernoulli Distributed Random Variable represents the binary integer program. The approach combines the queuing model and simulation to reduce the patient dismissal rate and increase hospital output. On the other hand, this paper deals with strategic hospital bed capacity optimization using linear integer programming by considering the diverse resources, such as doctors, nurses, beds, and hospital rooms. © 2022 ACM.

This research evaluates the effectiveness of Mean-Variance (MV) and Safety-First (SF) portfolio selection strategies for high-volume/high-value traded stocks on the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE). Analyzing data from 288 stocks over 7,670 trading days (30 years), we estimated stock returns, assigned probability weights, and conducted optimization models. The results show that the Mean-Variance (MV0.5) strategy achieved the best balance between risk and return, boasting the highest mean and cumulative returns with moderate volatility. The Safety-First (SF) strategy, however, yielded negative cumulative returns, indicating potential issues. The Market strategy had the lowest mean return but also the least risk, appealing to risk-averse investors. The Portfolio Mean-Variance (PMV) strategy provided a reasonable balance of returns and risk. Statistical analysis revealed that only the MV0.5 strategy outperformed market returns. These findings offer crucial insights into risk assessment and portfolio management for investors evaluating these strategies against market performance.
