With the start of the 5G operations, it will become more important to apply communication systems to automo-biles, which has been promoted in recent years as connected cars. Multi-band antennas are required to reduce the in-vehicle space which is occupied by communication equipment. We de-signed dual-band antennas for the sub-6 GHz 5G bands and the intelligent transport systems (ITS) especially the driving safety support system (DSSS) by loading helical elements to modified conical antennas (MCA), and conducted simulations and meas-urements. As a result, the antenna satisfied the sub-6 and ITS DSSS bands in the simulations. There were slightly differences between the calculated and measured results. © 2022 IEEE.

Portfolio selection is an important part of investment management that aims to select the right combination of assets to achieve an optimal risk-return ratio. This study integrates the Mean-Variance Theory utilizing the 30-year historical returns of the Philippine Stock Exchange. Three subsectors of the Industrial Sector were used as the investment pool. The back-test results showed that the MeanVariance portfolios of selected subsectors can outperform the industrial sector and not the market. Stakeholders must be cautious when investing in these three subsectors, considering the values obtained from the simulations. There are recommended portfolio selections wherein companies have a specific allocation that investors and financial managers can use whenever they decide to invest in these subsectors. Overall, this study offers a framework for investors to use as a guide in diversifying their stakes in the Philippine Stock Exchange.

Today’s rapid proliferation of information and technological advancements has led to complex and uncertain modern systems *** problems resulting from this increased complexity may surpass engineers’current capacity to perform effectively within the domain of complex *** response to this situation,the concept of systems Thinking(ST)has been advanced as an aid to building a mental map that offers a robust conceptual understanding to offset the challenges of modern system of systems(SoS)*** there has been some research regarding the effect of age and gender on ST preferences,there is still a lack of studies investigating how an individual’s ST skills preferences in system of systems(SoS)domain vary across educational *** addition,most of the extant literature focuses on one or two measures to assess the individual ST;thus,there is a need to include the full spectrum of ST measures to assess the ST skills preferences of an individual in the domain of complex *** address these gaps,this research uses an established ST skills preferences instrument to gauge an individual’s ST skills preferences in the SoS domain based on the educational *** hundred and fifty-eight participants with educational qualifications ranging from non-degree to graduate degree participated in the *** analysis of the responses was performed by a post-hoc test to show which groups differ *** the results obtained through aggregate individual responses,we conclude that each group(i.e bachelor,masters and phD),possesses a different ST skills preference profile on average,and the educational qualifications in the SoS environment has a moderation impact on individuals’system skills preferences.

The Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE), established in 1927, has significantly evolved, especially since the 1980s with major reforms and technological advancements. This paper analyzes the performance of portfolios in the Media, Telecommunications, and Information Technology sectors listed on the PSE over a 30year span. Using mean-variance analysis, it evaluates portfolio optimization by balancing risk and return. Drawing on data from 1993 to 2022, the study examines portfolios across various risk-return frontiers (RRFs) and compares the service sector’s performance. The results highlight varying portfolio metrics across RRFs, with some showing outperformance and higher RRFs leading to diminishing returns. The study also identifies key companies with significant stock allocations, providing strategic insights for portfolio construction. These findings offer investors guidance on optimizing portfolio strategies within the PSE for better decision-making and investment outcomes.

This study presents a more accurate evaluation method for assessing ankle spasticity compared to conventional goniometric techniques by utilizing measurements obtained from Inertial Measurement Units (IMU) and surface electromyography (sEMG) devices. Integrating IMU and EMG sensors provides substantial benefits for accurately determining the range of motion (ROM) associated with spasticity during targeted movements. In this study, the proposed method provides precise measurement and an objective evaluation of onset time detection of antagonistic muscle co-contraction, and accordingly the ROM of the actuated joint. Moreover, the implementation of cost-effective wearable sensors enables the monitoring of muscle spasticity in clinical environments and can be particularly valuable in regions with limited access to experienced therapists, providing a more efficient approach to tracking spasticity levels.

Student feedback is an important part of service quality of a private university. The purpose of the study was to evaluate undergraduate students' feedback towards service quality of private university. A total of 1555 questionnaires and a total of 201 negative comments were collected from one private university in the Philippines during one academic year. For students' comments, classification schemes were utilized to organize the meaningful categories. It showed that negative personality traits of the employees and poor student accommodation were two most frequent negative comments. Classification schemes were found as a powerful tool to evaluate the students' feedback towards service quality. Finally, that this approach can be applied and extended to analyze students' feedback in different private universities worldwide. © 2022 ACM.

The intuitive fuzzy set has found important application in decision-making and machine *** enrich and utilize the intuitive fuzzy set,this study designed and developed a deep neural network-based glaucoma eye detection using fuzzy difference equations in the domain where the retinal images *** image detections are categorized as normal eye recognition,suspected glaucomatous eye recognition,and glaucomatous eye *** degrees associated with weighted values are calculated to determine the level of concentration between the fuzzy partition and the retinal *** proposed model was used to diagnose glaucoma using retinal images and involved utilizing the Convolutional Neural Network(CNN)and deep learning to identify the fuzzy weighted regularization between *** methodology was used to clarify the input images and make them adequate for the process of glaucoma *** objective of this study was to propose a novel approach to the early diagnosis of glaucoma using the Fuzzy Expert System(FES)and Fuzzy differential equation(FDE).The intensities of the different regions in the images and their respective peak levels were *** the peak regions were identified,the recurrence relationships among those peaks were then *** partitioning was done due to varying degrees of similar and dissimilar concentrations in the *** and dissimilar concentration levels and spatial frequency generated a threshold image from the combined fuzzy matrix and *** distinguished between a normal and abnormal eye condition,thus detecting patients with glaucomatous eyes.

A surveillance system deploys multiple cameras to monitor a wide area in real time to detect abnormal situations such as a crime scene, traffic accident, and natural disaster. An Increased number of cameras results in the same number of monitors, which makes human decisions or automatic decisions difficult. To solve the problem, a smart surveillance scheme has recently been proposed. The smart surveillance system automatically detects an object and provides an alarm to a surveillant. In this paper, we present a metadata extraction method for object-based video summary. The proposed method adopts deep learning-based object detection and background elimination to correctly estimate an object region. Finally, metadata extraction is performed on the estimated object information. The proposed metadata consists of the representative color, size, aspect ratio, and patch of an object. The proposed method can extract reliable metadata without motion features in both static and dynamic cameras. One way to increase solar photovoltaic penetration in the grid is management of voltage fluctuations. This is because a photovoltaic plant cannot be interconnected to the grid if it causes voltage violations. Voltage violation is where voltage exceeds the acceptable range. Often, grid operators request photovoltaic plant owners to regulate voltage sufficiently with expensive and space-consuming static Var compensators. Unfortunately, this sometimes makes the project less feasible. This paper argues that there are better ways to regulate voltage. We ran a simulation with a 70 MWp photovoltaic plant as an addition to the grid. Without voltage regulation, voltage violations were found to be significant. This paper found that oversizing the inverter sufficiently would remove all voltage violations without deploying a static Var compensator. This is often a cheaper and space-saving solution for voltage management. This paper argues that economics and spatial efficiency of reactive power compensation devices is key to increasing photovoltaic penetration.
