Water scarcity has led to the search for sustainable methods of wastewater management in recent years. This article presents a comprehensive analysis of wastewater management through a systematic literature review, examining thirty articles published between 2012 and 2022. The main contribution lies in the in-depth analysis conducted on the management wastewater supply chain, focusing on the dimensions of sustainability studied, how they are addressed in models, the types of decisions made, and the methodologies employed. This provides insight into how sustainability has been approached in wastewater management while highlighting areas for improvement and future research.A positive trend is observed in related research, indicating a growing interest in the topic of sustainable management of wastewater supply chains up to the year 2020. To assess sustainability, optimization, and case studies were predominantly utilized, with evolutionary algorithms commonly employed in optimizations, complemented by uncertainty *** suggestions for future research, it is recommended to include political and technological aspects in the analysis of sustainability. Additionally, integrating methodologies with a greater capacity to incorporate multiple objective functions, along with a case study to illustrate their applicability, would be valuable. Addressing these outstanding issues could contribute to a better understanding of sustainable wastewater management and provide more effective solutions.

Single-tree detection is one of the main research topics in quantifying the structural properties of forests. Drone Li DAR systems and terrestrial laser scanning systems produce high-density point clouds that offer great promise for forest inventories in limited areas. However, most studies have focused on the upper canopy layer and neglected the lower forest structure. This paper describes an innovative tree detection method using drone Li DAR data from a new perspective of the under-canopy structure. This method relies on trunk point clouds, with undercanopy sections split into heights ranging from 1 to 7 m, which were processed and compared, to determine a suitable height threshold to detect trees. The method was tested in a dense cedar plantation forest in the Aichi Prefecture, Japan, which has a stem density of 1140 stems·ha^(-1) and an average tree age of 42 years. Dense point cloud data were generated from the drone Li DAR system and terrestrial laser scanning with an average point density of 5000 and 6500 points·m^(-2), respectively. Tree detection was achieved by drawing point-cloud section projections of tree trunks at different heights and calculating the center coordinates. The results show that this trunk-section-based method significantly reduces the difficulty of tree detection in dense plantation forests with high accuracy(F1-Score=0.9395). This method can be extended to different forest scenarios or conditions by changing section parameters.

Device-to-Device (D2D) communications facilitate direct data exchange between two devices, bypassing the necessity of routing through a central base station. This proximity-based communication offers advantages such as high data rates, low latency, reduced power consumption, and efficient frequency reuse. In the cellular spectrum, D2D operations encompass overlay D2D and underlay D2D. Overlay D2D allocates orthogonal radio resources to D2D and cellular users, resulting in inefficient frequency reuse. On the other hand, underlay D2D shares the same radio resources among D2D and cellular users, necessitating centralized coordination and extensive exchanges of channel and traffic information for effective interference management. To address the limitations of overlay and underlay D2D, we introduce a scheme that allows D2D users to simultaneously and non-orthogonally transmit both D2D and cellular signals. This approach resembles underlay D2D in terms of high frequency reuse but eliminates the need for centralized interference management. In this paper, we investigate various system design aspects based on this scheme, including power allocation, multiple-antenna extension, scheduling constraints, and different interference cancellation techniques. Incorporating a coordinated scheduling method, the proposed scheme enhances the sum rate of a conventional multiple-antenna overlay D2D system by 2.14 times, with only a negligible impact on the cellular communication rate. Furthermore, the proposed scheme improves the sum rate by up to 87% within conventional underlay D2D systems, all without the need for additional centralized coordination.
