This paper investigates the possibility of the linearization for the aerodynamic load while considering the effect of the control system. Rotor thrusts which are calculated by Open FAST were used for deriving equations of the transfer function for aero-servo-dynamic loads, and RADIS (Radiation and Diffraction Solver), which is developed by Korea Maritime and Ocean University (KMOU) was used to construct the frequency domain analysis tool for the aero-hydro-servo-dynamics. The characteristics of the transfer function for both aero- and aero-servo dynamic loads, and estimating equations are suggested at the range of mean wind speeds 8 to 15 m/s. In addition, the results from the developed frequency domain model have good agreement with OpenFAST by comparing motion responses. © 2024 by the International Society of Offshore and Polar Engineers (ISOPE).

Multiphysics modeling of surface diffusion coupled with large deformation in 3D solids

This study presents a comprehensive theoretical and computational model that explores the behavior of a thin hydrated film bonded to a non-hydrated/impermeable soft substrate in the context of surface and bulk elasticity coupled with surface diffusion kinetics. This type of coupling manifests as an integral aspect in diverse engineering processes encountered in optical interference coatings, tissue engineering, soft electronics, and can prove important in the design process for the next generation of sensors and actuators, especially as the focus is shifted to systems in smaller length scales. The intricate interplay between solvent diffusion and deformation of the film is governed by surface poroelasticity, and the viscoelastic deformation of the substrate. While existing methodologies offer tools for studying coupled poroelasticity involving solvent diffusion and network deformation, there exists a gap in understanding how coupled poroelastic processes occurring in a film attached to the boundary of a highly deformable solid can influence its response. In this study, we introduce a non-equilibrium thermodynamics formulation encompassing the multiphysical processes of surface poroelasticity and bulk viscoelasticity, complemented by a corresponding finite element implementation. This study makes significant contributions to solid mechanics and computational modeling by (i) modeling surface diffusion coupled with a viscoelastic substrate, enabling the study of time-dependent responses critical for practical applications, (ii) providing a robust theoretical framework for coupling two materials (film and substrate) with distinct reference (stress-free) states, including a detailed analytical derivation of the initial state, and (iii) efficiently modeling the thin film using a 2D mesh to avoid the need for a fine 3D solid mesh, thus reducing computational costs while maintaining accuracy. Considering the reduction measures for floor impact noise, it is widely known the increasing the thickness of floor slabs and a method of using a sound insulating material as a finishing material shown the improvement. In this study, a dynamic damper using asphalt damping material is proposed as another new floor impact noise reduction method. We report the change in characteristic vibration during damper adjustment and the floor impact noise reduction effect when installed on a floor in 2×4 structure as an example of damper installation. © 2022 Architectural Institute of Japan. A host-switch graph was originally proposed as a graph that represents a network topology of a computer systems with 1-port host computers and (Formula presented.) -port switches. It has been studied from both theoretical and practical aspects in terms of the diameter, the average shortest path length, and the performance of real applications. In recent high-performance computing systems, however, a host computer is connected to multiple switches by using InfiniBand, NVSwitch, or Omni-Path, and consequently they provide high bandwidths. Since a host-switch graph cannot represent such systems, this article extends a host-switch graph so that it can represent such systems. As a result, a host-switch graph can include multi-ported hosts. Furthermore, we propose to use multi-port hosts for reducing the diameter. We show that the diameter minimization is equivalent to solving the degree diameter problem for bipartite graphs of diameter three. Our experimental results show that we can drastically reduce the diameter as well as increasing the bandwidth and improves performance of MPI applications by up to 162% as compared with networks with single-ported hosts. © 2020 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

Federated learning (FL) has emerged as a promising technique to realize distributed machine learning (ML) in practice. FL enables multiple clients to collaboratively train a common ML model without the need to collect raw data from clients, which therefore has merit in the protection of data privacy. On the other hand, it is known that quantum computing excels in solving specific problems that are computationally prohibitive on classical computers due to its ability to harness quantum superposition and entanglement. However, current noisy intermediate-scale quantum (NISQ) computers have difficulties in dealing with many-qubit computation due to the lack of reliable error-correction schemes, which renders hybrid quantum-classical computing with few qubits a promising alternative. In this paper, we investigate how hybrid quantum-classical computing can be applied to FL while considering the data heterogeneity among clients. To this end, we propose the two-qubit quantum circuit-embedded convolutional neural network (2QCNN) for each client, which incorporates parallel two-qubit variational quantum circuits (VQCs) between the fully connected layers of the CNN. Simulation results show that 2QCNN outperforms the comparison schemes in terms of test accuracies. In addition, the impacts of the number and depth of parallel two-qubit VQCs on the performance of 2QCNN under various degrees of data heterogeneity are further evaluated.

In future Sixth-Generation (6G) mobile communication, satellite communication is a crucial means of extending mobile networks worldwide. However, in satellite communication systems, the transmission capacity between ground stations and users has become a bottleneck for satellite communication systems. For this issue, Integrated Sensing and Communication (ISAC) technology and Artificial Intelligence (AI), which has been widely studied, has the potential to offer excellent solutions. This paper explores a Uformer-based sensing-assisted communication system that enhances channel estimation accuracy through the design of a Uformer-based channel estimation enhancement algorithm. By formulating a global optimization problem, we seek to improve resource efficiency through finding the optimal resource allocation schemes. Initially, the system utilizes radar data to obtain reconstructed channels and employs communication data for channel estimation. The proposed neural network model then fuses these data into a new and more accurate channel state information. Finally, we present a resource allocation algorithm and validate the performance of all proposed algorithms through simulations. © ICST Institute for Computer Sciences, Social Informatics and Telecommunications engineering 2025.

With the rapid advancement of intelligent IoT services, the need for high-quality and efficient wireless communication has become increasingly critical for information exchanges and collaborations among intelligent edge devices such as autonomous mobile robots (AMRs), robots in smart factories, and surveillance cameras, etc., Federated Learning (FL) is a promising distributed learning framework by exploring the computation capability on edge devices while protecting data privacy of users. On the other hand, Over-the-Air (OTA) computation techniques is a new paradigm of integrated computation and communication. OTA based FL (OTA-FL) can enhance spectrum efficiency by leveraging the superposition properties of wireless channels for model aggregations. The implementation of OTA-FL on edge devices can further protect user data privacy for clients, improve the throughput of inter-device communications, and enhance the distributed learning performance. However, despite these advantages, the convergence of OTA-FL systems remain vulnerable to model poisoning attacks, presenting significant challenges. In this study, we address these vulnerabilities by proposing a two-phase detection mechanism that secures OTA-FL system while preserving high spectral efficiency. Our simulation results demonstrate that under varying conditions, our approach can make distributed learning more secure and communication-efficient. © 2025 IEEE.

As the licensed spectrum has been scarce, the unlicensed spectrum is deemed as a strong supplement to the licensed band, particularly for diversified sensors connected to the metaverse. Moreover, as one of the key components in future communication networks, the massive connection is crucial to the massive sensors connected to the metaverse with object of maximizing the number of connected devices while minimizing their power consumption. Therefore, both licensed and unlicensed bands are used for metaverse users and sensors in this paper. First, a feasible implementation framework is proposed to minimize power consumption and maximize the number of connected sensors while guaranteeing their data rate requirements. Accordingly, a joint power, spectrum allocation and user association scheme is proposed. Finally, the simulation results are provided to verify the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm. © 2023 IEEE.

Sensor network localization (SNL) is a challenging problem due to its inherent non-convexity and the effects of noise in inter-node ranging measurements and anchor node position. We formulate a non-convex SNL problem as a multiplayer non-convex potential game and investigate the existence and uniqueness of a Nash equilibrium (NE) in both the ideal setting without measurement noise and the practical setting with measurement noise. We first show that the NE exists and is unique in the noiseless case, and corresponds to the precise network localization. Then, we study the SNL for the case with errors affecting the anchor node position and the inter-node distance measurements. Specifically, we establish that in case these errors are sufficiently small, the NE exists and is unique. It is shown that the NE is an approximate solution to the SNL problem, and that the position errors can be quantified accordingly. Based on these findings, we apply the results to case studies involving only inter-node distance measurement errors and only anchor position information inaccuracies. © 2024 IEEE.
