A circuit technique for increasing the maximum output voltage slew rate (SR) of an integrated operational amplifier (OpAmp) with the HA2700 microchip architecture based on the modernization of the input differential stage (DS) is considered. An OpAmp architecture is proposed in which the influence of parasitic capacitances of DS reference current sources and capacitances on the transistor substrate on the SR is minimized. This allows the use of micron technological processes in the fabrication of CBJT OpAmps, which are widely used to improve the radiation resistance of microchips. Computer simulation of the proposed OpAmp is performed, which shows that the SR of the new circuit differs from the SR of the well-known serial OpAmp by more than 40 times and reaches values of about 800 V/μs at the emitter current of the input transistors of the DC in the range of up to 80-100 μA. The developed OpAmp is recommended for practical use in discrete-to-analog filters on switched capacitors. © 2024 IEEE.

In this paper, we develop an uncertainty-aware decision-making and motion-planning method for an autonomous ego vehicle in forced merging scenarios, considering the motion uncertainty of surrounding vehicles. The method dynamically captures the uncertainty of surrounding vehicles by online estimation of their acceleration bounds, enabling a reactive but rapid understanding of the uncertainty characteristics of the surrounding vehicles. By leveraging these estimated bounds, a non-conservative forward occupancy of surrounding vehicles is predicted over a horizon, which is incorporated in both the decision-making process and the motion-planning strategy, to enhance the resilience and safety of the planned reference trajectory. The method successfully fulfills the tasks in challenging forced merging scenarios, and the properties are illustrated by comparison with several alternative approaches. © 2024 IEEE.

In Ivanovo State Power engineering University (ISPEU, Ivanovo, Russia) digital instrument current and voltage transformers (DCVTs) has developed. Numerous studies and tests of DCVTs have been carried out;these devices already have operating experience in existing electrical facilities. However, some areas of application of DCVTs require additional research. The article presents a methodology for experimental study of 6(10) kV DCVTs under conditions of arc intermittent single-phase ground faults, a diagram of a test installation, as well as the results of testing the methodology. The article presents the quantitative characteristics of the modes obtained in laboratory conditions. The modes of arc intermittent single-phase ground faults and ferroresonance were simulated using electromagnetic measuring voltage transformers in the installation. However, during the experiments, some shortcomings in the methodology of the experiment were revealed. The article also indicates measures to improve the methodology for conducting further experimental studies of DCVTs. © 2023 IEEE.

To design linear control systems a new method is suggested on the basis of the principle of output and impacts control. The main difference of this principle consists in the use of only measurable variables and separate operators for each input signal of the control device. The design problem has a solution if the plant is completely controllable, and at least the controllable variable is measured. The suggested approach makes it possible to eliminate the well-known contradiction between the accuracy and stability of systems with control on deviation, and to provide the required astatism orders or selective invariance to the external actions. At the same time, the conditions of ensuring the direct indicators of the transient quality and the physical implementation of the control device are taken into account. The coefficients of the equation of the output and impacts control device are determined by solving a system of linear algebraic equations. The control device can be implemented on the basis of either operational amplifiers or sufficiently high-speed digital automation tools. The suggested method can be applied for designing high-quality linear control systems for various purposes. © 2023 IEEE.

Within the realm of flexible manufacturing, fixture layout planning allows manufacturers to rapidly deploy optimal fixturing plans that can reduce surface deformation that leads to crack propagation in components during manufacturing tasks. The role of fixture layout planning has evolved from being performed by experienced engineers to computational methods due to the number of possible configurations for components. Current optimisation methods commonly fall into sub-optimal positions due to the existence of local optima, with data-driven machine learning techniques relying on costly to collect labelled training data. In this paper, we present a framework for multiagent reinforcement learning with team decision theory to find optimal fixturing plans for manufacturing tasks. We demonstrate our approach on two representative aerospace components with complex geometries across a set of drilling tasks, illustrating the capabilities of our method;we will compare this against state of the art methods to showcase our method’s improvement at finding optimal fixturing plans with 3 times the improvement in deformation control within tolerance bounds. © 2024, CC BY.

To solve the power imbalance problem caused by the difference between the equivalent impedance of the inverter and the line impedance, and the power quality problem caused by the disturbance of load mutation, unbalanced load and nonlinear load, this paper proposes a closed-loop feedback dynamic compensation strategy based on the equivalent virtual impedance of the residual generator. Firstly, based on the parallel topology of inverters, a quasi-steady-state model is established on the dq axis. Based on the model, the power imbalance caused by the difference of output impedance and line impedance of different inverters and the power quality problems caused by load switching, unbalanced load, nonlinear load and other disturbances in parallel inverters are ***, a residual generator is established based on the inverter model. A virtual impedance equivalent controller Qvir(S) based on the residual generator is designed by the Luenberger observer principle. The disturbance information is fed back in real time through the feedback structure, and then the virtual impedance is adjusted to realize the power sharing of the inverter parallel system. Then, based on Euler parameterization and coprime factorization theory, a dynamic compensation architecture based on residual generator is designed. The transfer function of the dynamic compensation controller Qcom (S) is obtained by model matching to realize the steady-state operation of parallel inverters and the improvement of system power quality. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed architecture is verified on the experimental platform. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper proposes the participation of wind generation in the decentralized control of load frequency of a hybrid power system consisting of, in addition to wind generation, conventional generation and battery storage. The wind generation is modelled as a ‘Virtual Synchronous Generator (VSG)’ in a separate control area with its own virtual frequency. It has also been proposed to operate the wind generation system in a ‘de-loaded’ mode, thereby allowing it to take part in frequency regulation services. For the purposes of a decentralized control design, the overall system model is decomposed into three subsystems. Static state-feedback control gains are computed by posing the decentralized control problem as a set of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) subject to structural and stabilizing constraints.

Fine-grained plant pathology classification is an important task for precision agriculture, but at the same time, it is challenging due to the subtle difference in plant categories. Variances in the lighting conditions, position, and stages of disease symptoms usually lead to degradation of classification accuracy. Knowledge distillation is a popular method to improve the model performance to deal with the indistinguishable image classification problem. It aims to have a well-optimised small student network guided by a large teacher network. Existing knowledge distillation methods mainly consider training a teacher network that needs a high storage space and considerable computing resources. Self-knowledge distillation methods have been proposed to distil knowledge from the same network. Although self-knowledge distillation saves time and space compared with knowledge distillation, it only learns label knowledge. In this paper, we propose a novel self-distillation method to recognize the fine-grained plant category, which considers holistic knowledge based on the Squeeze and Excitation Network. We label this new method as holistic self-distillation because it captures knowledge through spatial features and labels. The performance validation of the proposed approach is performed on two public fine-grained plant datasets: Plant Pathology 2021 and Plant Pathology 2020 with the accuracy of 98.22% and 90.72% respectively. We also present experiments on the state-of-the-art algorithm (ResNet-50). The classification results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach with respect to accuracy.

The problem of confrontation games between multi-agent teams has attracted considerable interest, and the question of how to ensure effective coordination of heterogeneous agents in dynamic and adversarial environments remains a significant challenge. In this paper, we present a decision-making methodology for a confrontation game between two teams, which is based on large language models (LLMs). The game is designed as a competitive Seek-and-Take task comprising three distinct robot types: reconnaissance, grabbing, and blocking robots. The LLMs enhance the robot team’s decision-making efficiency, delivering high-level commands that significantly improve coordination and adversarial performance. The game is initially formalized as a partially observable Markov decision process. Subsequently, a systematic construction of the LLM agents is provided, enabling real-time decisions based on the state information of a heterogeneous robot team (HRT). Detailed prompt design and the "Zero-shot-CoT" procedure are provided, and a cue word iteration method with reflections is proposed as a means of enhancing the decision-making efficiency of the LLMs and generating optimal collaboration strategies. Finally, the efficacy of the methodology is validated through experimentation with multiple LLMs in a multi-robot simulation environment. The results demonstrate that LLMs improve the efficiency and adaptability of decision-making in dynamic environments by serving as a core decision module, generating optimal strategies through real-time analysis. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper proposes a hybrid computational framework for fault detection during the coil winding manufacturing process by using a combination of Discrete Event Simulation (DES) model with a Supervised Machine Learning (SML) algorithm. The conventional End of the Line (EoL) tests are insufficient in detecting faults during process resulting in increased manufacturing costs and lead times. The proposed methodology utilises a Knowledge Distillation (KD) approach to address the challenges associated with the technique and optimise the student model's performance by employing architecture search and data augmentation. Multiple SML algorithms were evaluated to determine their effectiveness in predicting faults during manufacturing. The random forest algorithm demonstrated superior performance due to its ability to handle complex data and identify the impact of interdependencies of process parameters on the final product quality. The method was validated by conducting physical experiments on a linear coil-winding machine, and the results indicated that the random forest algorithm has the potential to decrease simulation time from 2 minutes to less than a second. The proposed methodology has the potential to reduce manufacturing time, enhance stator quality, and ultimately improve their reliability and safety.
