Recent advances and research trends for intelligent vehicles were studied. Vehicle-state sensing focuses on measuring a vehicle's movement and monitoring its actuators. Individual-vehicle-control research focuses mainly on guaranteeing driving safety. In similar fashion to western countries, ASEAN countries are also gearing up towards deregulation. Despite potentially different motivating drivers, the ultimate objectives are free market competition leading to efficient pricing signals as well as providing customers with the freedom to choose their electricity provider and benefit from competitive prices. This paper provides an ASEAN electricity market analysis and describes the development of electricity deregulation in ASEAN countries. By way of background it also highlights the objectives of deregulation, the potential challenges and also the impact areas focusing on existing Customer Information systems (CIS) that have been developed by other utilities. In addition, this paper proposes a new framework for improving CIS for ASEAN utilities facing deregulation. The framework outlines a CIS, which has intelligent features enabling the utility to estimate and predict customer behaviour with respect to consumption patterns. It describes how these features can assist the utility companies to retain their existing customers as well as attract more customers.

Being parallel to frequency domain robust steering controller designs, time domain approaches attract considerable interest in the last decade. Based on previous research results, a synthesized time design framework is proposed in this paper. The design task is constructed as a multi-objective optimization problem which simultaneously considers system stabilization, disturbance rejection, actuator saturation and time delay. A mixed L/sub 1//H/sub /spl infin// robust controller is finally obtained by solving a set of linear matrix equalities (LMI) that guarantee driving performance requirements. Simulations show the effectiveness of the proposed design method.

This paper presents a novel approach to plan an optimal joint trajectory for a manipulator robot performing a compliant motion task. In general, a two-step scheme are deployed to find the optimal robot joint curve. Firstly, we approximate the functional and use Newton's iteration to numerically calculate the joint trajectory's intermediate discretized points, instead of solving a corresponding nonlinear, implicit Euler-Lagrange equation. Secondly, we interpolate these points to get the final joint curve in a way such that the motion constraints will always be sustained throughout the movement. This paper presents a joint space formulation for robot manipulator's hybrid motion/force control. The motivations come from 1) extending the previous work to general (either constrained or redundant) robots; and 2) improving the robustness against disturbances originated at the joint level. Contact geometry and closed-loop dynamics are derived in this paper, also a joint space hybrid control scheme is proposed. At the end, we show some simulation results to verify the applicability of our theory on a constrained (4-degree-of-freedom) robot WAM.

The comfort and safety of driving tightly depends on good working condition of the vehicle tires. However, it is not easy for people to estimate tire pressure, temperature and tire/road friction force etc. correctly, especially when driving on road. As a result, numerous novel tire sensors and inspection devices were developed in the last two decades to make driving more safe and comfortable. In addition, these approaches also related to scrap tire pollution and highway noise reduction. This paper summarizes the various user-friendly options that power system analysis and simulation software toots offer today with varied add-ons and premium modules. The authors' main intention is to present the information and key features of available software tools in power engineering. Based on the study presented in this paper, one could conclude that the advanced analysis methodology combines generation, transmission, various elements, and market economics into one virtual environment to deliver location, time, user-dependent analysis results, and indicators. The authors hope that the information furnished in this paper is helpful to potential users in industry and academia, and enables them to make the right decision before purchasing appropriate software.
