For achieving the encoding and the decoding of high-resolution digital video streams, high efficiency video coding (HEVC) is implemented to many devices. HEVC can encode input video with a high compression ratio by adopting MC (motion compensation) -DCT method. Additionally, HEVC can control the video sequence quality by a quantization parameter (QP). However, there is high possibility that redundant bits are generated by MC-DCT method which calculate the rate-distortion cost by the prediction method, variable block size, QP, etc. In this paper, the generated bits are adjusted by QP value based on saliency-detection map. The simulation result show that the proposed algorithm do not affect the subjective evaluation and achieve 11.02% average reduction of bit-rate. © 2018 The Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan.

Recently, information hiding technique in image data has attracted attention as a countermeasure against illegal distribution, tampering and copyright infringement. In conventional information hiding, the image after the embedding (stego-image) is degraded. In application where image degradation is not tolerated, information hiding with reversible degradation is desired. Reversibility in this case is the ability to restore the original image from the strego-image. In this paper, we propose a method which can add reversibility to conventional method by using error correction code. Using computer simulations, we show that the proposed method is much better than conventional reversible information hiding techniques when the image underwent image tampering. © 2014 IEEE.

An Adaptive Weighted QITE-VQE Algorithm for Combinatorial Optimization Problems

The variational quantum eigensolver (VQE) is a promising algorithm for finding the ground states of a given Hamiltonian. Its application to binary-formulated combinatorial optimization (CO) has been intensively studied in recent years. However, typical VQE approaches for CO problems often suffer from local minima or barren plateaus, limiting their ability to achieve optimal solutions. The quantum imaginary time evolution (QITE) offers an alternative approach for effective ground-state preparation but requires large circuits to approximate non-unitary operations. Although compressed QITE (cQITE) reduces circuit depth, accumulated errors eventually cause energy increases. To address these challenges, we propose an Adaptive Weighted QITE-VQE (AWQV) algorithm that integrates the VQE gradients with the cQITE updates through an adaptive weighting scheme during optimization. In numerical experiments of MaxCut on unweighted regular graphs, AWQV achieves near-optimal approximation ratios, while for weighted ErdősRényi instances, it outperforms the classical Goemans-Williamson algorithm. © 2025, CC BY.

With the advance of network technology in recent years, the dissemination and exchange of massive documents has become commonplace. Accordingly, the importance of content analysis techniques is increasing. Topic analysis in large-scale document streams such as E-mails and news articles is an important research issue. This paper addresses techniques for "topic activation analysis" for document streams. For example, when news articles with a strong relationship to a given topic arrive frequently in a news stream, we can regard the activation level of the topic as high. In [I], Kleinberg proposed a method for analyzing document streams. Although the main objective of his method was to detect bursts of topics, it can also be used for topic activation analysis. His method, however, has a serious limitation in that it only looks at the arrival rate of documents and ignores the degree of relevance for each document. Another limitation is that his method is "batch-oriented." This paper first proposes a novel topic activation analysis scheme that incorporates both document arrival rate and relevance to address the first problem. It then presents an incremental scheme more appropriate for a document streaming environment. The proposed schemes are validated by experiments using real CNN news articles. Copyright 2005 ACM.

After the COVID-19 pandemic, broadband internet utilization is predicted to continue to grow and experience a significant increase. The pandemic has changed how people work, study, communicate, shop, and carry out many aspects of daily life. Research reported that since 2018, research on broadband internet has continued to increase until now. This quantitative study examines the impact of the four critical variables on the link between attitude, availability, pricing, and quality of service (QoS) on broadband internet customer satisfaction using the Structural Equation Model approach and the Partial Lease Square technique. Three hundred and sixty-one citizen respondents in DKI Jakarta Province were collected using the snowball sampling method facilitated by Google Forms. At the same time, the COVID-19 post-pandemic was still ongoing in Indonesia. Through rigorous statistical analysis, the results show that customer satisfaction with broadband internet services is influenced by all factors, from attitude towards broadband Internet, broadband Internet availability, broadband Internet price, and service quality. The implications of this research are significant for service providers. They provide actionable insights for developing effective strategies to improve customer satisfaction and increase broadband internet subscriptions. © 2023 IEEE.

Errors in diagnosing the disease is a critical risk that must be faced by any person giving treatment to the hospital. Medical treatment can not always be done with perfect accuracy. Lung cancer is one of the most deadly disease that prone to misdiagnose. In general, some practitioners tend to read cancer in x-ray rontgen image as tumor this could be fatal. To generate a diagnose, a general practitioner use three kind of examination i.e : patient History, Radiologic examination, phisical examination. In this paper, Gray color for image indexing and retrieval are investigated. The features are derived based on the statistical distribution of Harralick feature from image sample. By utilizing the proposed invariant features, the similarity measure between query and database images provides reliable retrieval results. © 2010 IEEE.

This study used a water-soluble inclusion complex, fullerene/ß-cyclodextrins(C60/ß-CDs), as additive abrasive with conventional SiO2 slurry for the chemical mechanical polishing/planarization(CMP) of the silicon carbide substrate wafer. The hydrodynamic size(dH) of C60/ß-CDs suspension was measured by the dynamic light scattering(DLS) method;the appearance of a C60/ß-CDs inclusion complex is observed by TEM. The C60/ßCDs hybrid SiO2-based slurry performed a higher removal rate than conventional SiO2 slurry, and the polished surface showed a lower depression and roughness, too. © 2021 The Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers.

The training of embedded software engineers in educational institutions is required for embedded systems companies. We focus on computer architecture education for learning about the operations and architectures of processors. We use the Kyutech Easily Reconstructive Naked Educational (KERNEL) system, which was designed for computer architecture education. The KERNEL system enables users to observe the internal architecture and states of processors during execution. It helps beginners to learn the basics of a computer architecture by writing their programs into the KERNEL memory so they can observe the processor's execution. This paper describes a field-programmable gate array (FPGA)-based educational system cooperating with mobile applications, and offers a performance evaluation of its wireless communications. The system consists of an FPGA board implemented with one's own K16 model processor that designed for computer hardware educations in the KERNEL system and mobile applications that become a console for setting and displaying the internal state of the processor. It is possible for users to write their programs, set registers in the processor, and observe the internal state of the processor during execution by using a mobile application. Communications between the FPGA and the mobile application uses classic Bluetooth and Bluetooth Low Energy technology. © 2018 The Institute of Electronics and Information Engineers.

Improving the company's performance to compete globally, in rapid growth market economy condition, is practically required. One of the important things is right decision in issues of supplier selection. The improper supplier affects consequence negatively to the quality of company's business process. Thus, the right way to answer the issues is incredibly crucial to be proposed. This study aims to design an application to determine the sub-criteria weight with Fuzzy-AHP method, select the best supplier via Fuzzy-TOPSIS method, and calculate the allocation of quota to each supplier thru Fuzzy-MOLP method. The study was conducted on high class store by taking the object of material gymnastic product (spandex). Simulation confidently demonstrates that the Fuzzy-AHP approach is able to be operated to generate parameter Quality Product as the best sub-criteria (with value 0.221), the Fuzzy-TOPSIS technique can be used to ring out the supplier (where CV. Maju Jaya Abadi as the best supplier), and the method Fuzzy-MOLP is exploited to calculate the allocation of quota (where CV. Maju Jaya Abadi as a supplier with the highest percentage of 44.40%). © 2018 IEEE.

The study of the adoption of Blockchain Technology (BT) of the Supply Chain Management System (SCMS) automotive components industry still in infancy. BT's previous research topic mostly in virtual currency, security, and IoT. However, the automotive market's significant development causes several issues in the SCMS automotive components industry, such as fake components. Blockchain Technology (BT), as identified, might be possible as a way out for the development of SCMS automotive components. There are several research questions in this research, such as how BT can facilitate SCMS open issues? What is the BT impact in the SCM area? The study method used the systematic literature review (SLR) method to gather all information from 12 publishers and an international index journal. Seven open issues identified in this study and SCM's core operational aspect, such as supplier, logistics, manufacturer, distribution, and customer, have been identified impact with BT. © 2020 IEEE.
