In this study, two deep learning models for automatic tattoo detection were analyzed; a modified Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) and pre-trained ResNet-50 model. In order to achieve this, ResNet-50 uses transfer learning with fine-tuning. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the accuracy, precision, recall, F1-score, and computational efficiency of the system being considered. To augment the dataset included 1000 photos that were equally divided between those showing tattoos and those that did not show tattoos. A k-fold cross-validation approach was employed in training and testing the models. Although custom CNNs are effective, utilizing pre-trained ones like ResNet-50 can offer even better outcomes. Specifically, ResNet-50 attained a higher accuracy (0.86 compared to 0.79), precision (0.85 versus 0.78), recall (0.91 against 0.86), and F1-score (0.91 vis-a-vis 0.86) as compared to custom CNNs. In selecting these models for examination, two main motivations were considered. The first motivation is to see whether transfer learning with a pre-trained ResNet-50 model does well when compared with a customized CNN designed specifically for tattoo detection. Secondly,the intent of this study is to know what advantages can be derived from each approach and their demerits too. Furthermore, it seeks to determine if transfer learning can provide an alternative in contrast to the common CNN techniques with regards to precision and computational efficiency. In this research, two models will be evaluated in order to answer the question of what is better for tattoo detection: transfer learning or designing custom architectures.

We propose a method that links character string having a certain semantic meaning on papers in real world to the digital information in cyberspace, and call it Ultimatelink. Ultimatelink adds additional information to characters by superimposing a circular color mark on the characters without changing the shape of the characters. A URL (Universal Resource Locator) can be generated by connecting additional information of semantically organized characters which are come from captured images by digital devices. In the experiment, we investigated the behavior of Ultimatelink for the five type of Japanese characters. The target characters are multiple katakana characters, multiple kanji characters only, multiple kanji and hiragana characters, kanji with a few strokes, and kanji with many strokes. As a result of experiments, it was confirmed that information superimposition and information extraction are possible in most cases, but there are problems such as failure to extract a single character or the ability to extract color markers appropriately depending on the character shape.

Long-term desk work with lousy posture causes physical disabilities. To solve this problem, we have developed a smart chair with a controllable seat angle in our previous research. In order to control the seat angle and guide the user to the correct posture using this smart chair, it is necessary to investigate how the posture changes in response to the seat angle change. In this study, we first constructed a dataset by capturing posture data from 30 subjects while changing the seat angle of the smart chair. This dataset trained a model based on a graph neural network to predict posture in response to seat angle changes. We compared the model's prediction performance in the evaluation experiment depending on the training data and the body part.

Digital holographic microscopy (DHM) can provide three-dimensional information. For this reason, this technology has been applied to various fields such as malaria diagnosis using red blood cell (RBC)s and automatic cancer diagnosis using living cells. In research on automatic diagnosis using deep learning, the quality of training data is very important to improve performance. Therefore, we propose an accurate cell segmentation technology for automatic diagnostic assistance of DHM in this paper. The proposed method uses a segmentation algorithm, Segment Anything, and an image recognition algorithm, Xception. In this paper, to evaluate the proposed method, we use five images containing multiple RBCs and calculate the detection rate and false detection rate. This method can reduce the cost of data acquisition and obtain accurate data by automatically acquiring RBCs from images containing multiple RBCs, making it suitable for the automatic diagnosis of DHM using deep learning.

We report a compact modeling framework based on the Grove-Frohman (GF) model and artificial neural networks (ANNs) for emerging gate-all-around (GAA) MOSFETs. The framework consists of two ANNs;the first ANN constructed with the drain current model not only can capture the main trend of device I - V characteristics but also can predict its variation even when the amount of training data for the ANN is insufficient or outside the range of applied biases. The second one is then designed to improve the model accuracy by further minimizing the errors between the target and the model outputs. We implement the proposed framework to accurately model emerging GAA nanosheet (NS) MOSFETs and complementary FETs (CFETs) without suffering from divergent issues in circuit simulation. In addition, nonphysical behaviors, such as nonzero current at zero bias, do not occur in the modeling framework. Compared to recently reported machine-learning (ML) models, our approach can achieve a similar level of model accuracy with merely 20% amount of the training data. © 1963-2012 IEEE.

Neural networks with relatively shallow layers and simple structures may have limited ability in accurately identifying pneumonia. In addition, deep neural networks also have a large demand for computing resources, which may cause convolutional neural networks to be unable to be implemented on terminals. Therefore, this paper will carry out the optimal classification of convolutional neural networks. Firstly, according to the characteristics of pneumonia images, AlexNet and InceptionV3 were selected to obtain better image recognition results. Combining the features of medical images, the forward neural network with deeper and more complex structure is learned. Finally, knowledge extraction technology is used to extract the obtained data into the AlexNet model to achieve the purpose of improving computing efficiency and reducing computing costs. The results showed that the prediction accuracy, specificity, and sensitivity of the trained AlexNet model increased by 4.25 percentage points, 7.85 percentage points, and 2.32 percentage points respectively. The graphics processing usage has decreased by 51% compared to the InceptionV3 mode. © 2024 IEEE.

In this paper, we exploit caches on intermediate nodes for QoE enhancement of multi-view video and audio transmission over ICN/CCN by controlling the content request start timing of consumers. We assume the selected single viewpoint transmission method; a consumer receives video and audio streams of a requested viewpoint. We perform a simple experiment with two consumers. When the consumers play video and audio with the time difference, we assess the effect of cached content by the former consumer's request on the output quality of the latter consumer. We deal with two types of viewpoint change strategies for the former consumer, which affect the efficiency of cache utilization. From the assessment results, we see that cache utilization has an important factor in enhancing QoE.

Information security risk is of utmost importance and a crucial concern, particularly within a clinical laboratory responsible for managing sensitive public health information. Various endeavors have been undertaken by institutions to tackle this pressing challenge effectively. This research seeks to develop a computer-based decision model for assessing information security risks. The model is scientifically constructed using the fuzzy logic method as its core approach and designed through an object-oriented approach. Impressively, the model successfully simulates 31 risk scenarios with an accuracy rate of 93.55%.

In this study, we report the process variation effect (PVE) including the work function fluctuation (WKF) on the DC/AC characteristic fluctuation of stacked gate-all-around silicon complementary field-effect transistors (CFETs). The PVE affects characteristic fluctuation significantly;in particular, for the variability of off-state current. Owing to the bottom channel of a fin-type, the P-FET suffers from the worst off-state current fluctuation (more than 200% variation) compared to the N-FET. The device variability induced by the WKF is marginal because of amorphous-type metal grains. As input features to an artificial neural network (ANN) model, low and high work function values, as well as parameters of PVE that have prevalent effects on CEFT transfer characteristics are further considered and modeled. The estimated values of R2-score prove that the ANN model properly grasps information from the dataset successfully;thus, it can be used to model emerging CFETs for circuit simulation. © 2002-2012 IEEE.
