The rapid digitalisation process in power system has greatly benefited the large-scale integration of distributed energy resources (DERs), essentially accelerating the progress towards net zero. However, numerous cyber attacks such as false data injection (FDI) attacks are impeding the normal control and operation activities. This paper aims to establish a real-Time microgrid co-simulation platform to fully study the impacts of realistic attack events on micorgrid's control performance. Although there exist a large number of power-communication co-simulation platforms for the power system, they are designed to mainly provide validation services for control and operation algorithms and little attention has been paid to the cyber security. In the established microgrid platform, power and communication parts are simulated in Typhoon Hardware-in-The-loop(HIL) 602+ and EXata Network Simulator, respectively, and a dedicated synchronisation scheme is developed and embedded in Raspberry Pis to achieve master-slave data exchange between them. Based on the advanced cyber libraries provided by EXata, realistic FDI and packet drop attacks are mounted against the mapped communication links within EXata. The results indicate that these cyber attacks can severely influence the microgrid control performance including destabilising system states and specific state deviations, further demonstrating the necessity of deploying effective cyber-resilience enhancement mechanisms. © 2024 IEEE.

The Common Spatial Patterns (CSP) algorithm has shown great efficacy in extracting features for Brain-Computer Interfaces (BCIs), particularly in motor imagery BCIs. However, CSP performs poorly when dealing with limited labeled data, which leads to long calibration time at the beginning of each session. To overcome this challenge, we leverage source data, i.e., labeled data from other subjects, to transfer knowledge across subjects. This work proposes a novel approach termed Scaled and Warped CSP-based Transfer Learning (SW-CSP-TL). This method aligns source data with the temporal and amplitude structure of target data before computing CSP filters, ensuring optimization for capturing discriminative features relevant to the target domain. We evaluate the proposed SW-CSP-TL algorithm using the publicly available dataset 2a from BCI Competition IV and compare its performance with that of the classical CSP algorithm and the transfer learning CSP algorithm (CSP-TL) without amplitude scaling and temporal warping. Our algorithm exhibits superior performance particularly when the training data size is relatively small. Results demonstrate that for 5 and 15 training trials per class from the target session, SW-CSP-TL outperformed the classical CSP by an average of 10%, and 8%, respectively. © 2024 IEEE.

The performance and functionality of radio electronic equipment depends on various factors including external. One of them is electromagnetic interference, in particular ultra-wideband interference. The paper considers the protection of radio-electronic equipment from the impact of ultra-wideband interference by using modal filtering in flexible printed cables. These cables are feature by a high degree of design and application diversity, which makes them particularly attractive for providing interconnections in modern electronic equipment. This material has a relatively high dielectric permittivity, which allows for a higher per-unit-length mode delay. We fabricated a flexible printed cable to conduct a full-scale experiment and studied it in the frequency and time domains. To validate the experimental studies, we performed quasistatic simulations. The experiment demonstrated that the ultra-wideband interference can be successfully attenuated in the cable, and the maximum attenuation was 3.6 times of the original value, with a bandwidth of 118 MHz. The discrepancy between the simulation and experimental results can be attributed to the unaccounted influence of coaxial-microstrip and coaxial transitions, as well as the discrepancy in dielectric electrical characteristics. © 2024 IEEE.

Dynamic Bayesian Networks (DBNs) are useful tools for modelling complex systems whose network representations can be elicited a priori or learnt from data. In this paper, a maximum likelihood Doubly-Iterative Expectation Maximization (DI-EM) Algorithm is developed for the identification of grey-box ARMAX state-space model representations of DBNs involving known, noisy measurement processes. The grey-box model incorporates network dependencies among time series variables and exploits time series data of low longitudinal and high cross-sectional dimensions. A network learning procedure is developed using a score-based structure-selection method to find the underlying network of an input-driven dynamical system. By computing a finite data version of the Bayesian Information Criterion (BIC) for small sample sizes, the proposed method's performance is investigated on simulated and real-world data. The algorithm recovers the underlying ground-truth networks of simulated systems under finite data criteria with Jaccard Coefficient values of up to 0.84, and selects structures with improved weighted mean-squared error loss over a baseline black-box model fit on real-world data. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper presents a study of a low-profile printed microstrip UWB antenna in the frequency range of 4-15 GHz. The results of investigation of the characteristics of the UWB antennas (VSWR, gain, Radiation pattern characteristic, RCS) with different geometry of ground surfaces are presented. Several models of antennas are made, the comparative analysis of calculation results of experimental samples with their numerical models is carried out. A good agreement between the results of mathematical modeling and experimental characteristics of real antenna samples is shown. The influence of the substrate shape on the reduction of scattering characteristics of antennas is analyzed. Applying the presented topologies of the ground surface, makes possible to extend the operating frequency range of the antenna without using additional matching elements and reducing antenna dimensions. For this model, the operating frequency range was 2.7 GHz to 13 GHz, and it is realized only by modifying the shape of the ground surface. © 2024 IEEE.

Coverage control with a multi-robot system requires the robot team to be optimally distributed across some environment. This environment may have multiple, distinct areas of interest, each of which associated with a specific task that requires robots with particular capabilities. In such scenarios, the first problem to be solved is that of assigning each robot in the team to one of the importance areas, while accounting for the robots' capabilities and the task/area requirements. This paper investigates this problem and proposes a novel multi-robot task allocation (MRTA) scheme in the context of coverage control. More specifically, the proposed method employs integer linear programming (ILP) to solve the constrained robot-to-task allocation problem. The resulting algorithm allocates each robot in the heterogeneous team to one of the importance areas, subject to a number of realistic constraints such as the tasks' requirements, and the robots' capabilities and energy levels. Our approach introduces elements of fault tolerance and robustness to situational changes, since it can also be executed periodically during the coverage process, to reassign the robots in case of robot faults, changes in the tasks/areas, and other factors that alter the allocation solution. The proposed scheme also has the advantage of being separate from the coverage control algorithm, and therefore supports a modular framework. Finally, a set of realistic simulated scenarios are used to validate the task allocation scheme being proposed. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper presents the results of a signal integrity analysis for a structure with double modal redundancy (MR) before and after failures. Two failure cases are considered: open circuit and short circuit. The study investigates key signal integrity parameters such as S-parameters, signal phase, group delay time, and eye diagrams. The results show that after the first failure, the bandwidth of the structure increases, while it decreases after the second failure. The change in bandwidth affects the data rate that can be transmitted to the device input without significant signal distortion. Eye diagrams are analyzed for each case considering the data rate based on the bandwidth. The analysis of eye diagrams reveals that despite some deviations from the ideal eye shape in certain cases, the eye remains open, indicating a low probability of bit errors. A comparison of the results before and after failure, with the same data rate, shows that the failures in the redundant circuit have a negligible impact on the signal integrity within the bandwidth. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper illustrates the implementation of a practical model that can simulate one of the applications in modern industries while also displaying the results remotely. Moreover, three steps of the automation pyramid have been achieved, starting from the field level and ending with the supervisory level (SCADA), which allows us to catch up with the fourth industrial revolution that is trending. The article can be summarized into three sections. The first one is about building a virtual automated warehouse system that utilizes a conveyor and a PLC to control the production line. The simulation of these processes has been implemented via the Factory I/O platform. It is subdivided into four subcategories: color-based sorting, material-based sorting, box size-based sorting, and packaging optimization. The Human-Machine Interface (HMI) design is also discussed, which optimizes stock requests. The second aspect of this paper focuses on practical work, specifically sorting by size. It also explores the use of pneumatic cylinders in separating boxes based on different dimensions. These cylinders are actuated through solenoid valves, which receive instructions from sensors and transmit signals to the PLC for efficient control. Finally, the Internet of Things (IoT) has a share in this project, which allows remote monitoring of the production line to increase safety and efficiency. © 2023 IEEE.

Manufacturing efficiency and transport operations are being significantly improved by mobile robots. As the implementation of a configurable, lightweight, and stateof-the-art robotic system is required for current manufacturing sectors to maximize the use of mobile robots, this paper presents a software architecture comprised of perception and action systems for human following in real time. The perception system uses the YOLOv8 computer vision model to identify and estimate human pose. Additionally, an algorithm is developed using the 3D information from a stereo camera to determine which target and whether to follow. Once the perception system perceives the desired target information, the action system can control and coordinate the robot using the ROS. Experimental results from the physical robot demonstrate the feasibility of the system architecture. © 2024 IEEE.
