Alloying/doping is a widely used technique for improving the electrical,mechanical,and optical properties of ***,this technology induces significant distortions in the lattice structure,mass distribution,and potential field,greatly enhancing phonon ***,we introduce the concept of alloying/doping path and employ crystal symmetry,lattice deformation,and electron distribution to characterize *** on this new concept,the phonon thermal transport behavior in alloyed/doped materials can be well designed,and along different alloying/doping paths,the difference in thermal conductivity can be up to 45 *** one hand,strategic alloying/doping that combines high crystal symmetry,large lattice contraction,and the same electron distribution suppresses phonon-phonon scattering phase space,induces phonon stiffening,and bolsters electronic structure symmetry,*** synergistic effects significantly improve thermal *** the other hand,random alloying/doping has a low symmetry,leading to the typical“U”shape of alloying/doping level-dependent thermal *** theory is corroborated in three-dimensional(3D)Si,2D MoS_(2),and quasi-1D TiS_(3),affirming its efficacy and broad applicability in controlling phonon transport.

A deep learning network is implemented for the phase segmentation of Ni/YSZ anode of solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs), as manual segmentation of focused ion beam-scanning electron microscopy (FIB-SEM) images is time-consuming. Segmentation is performed on two samples with different volume ratios of Ni to YSZ. The mean intersection over union (mIoU) reaches 0.9363, indicating good agreement between the predicted images and the manually segmented images. Furthermore, the impact of image augmentation on segmentation accuracy is investigated, and it is found that augmentation is necessary when the number of images in the training set is small or the training and testing sets come from different samples. Furthermore, mixing a sixth of manually segmented images from a new sample into the training set can significantly improve the accuracy of automated segmentation for the new sample. This strategy reduces the number of images requiring manual segmentation and improves processing efficiency. © The Electrochemical Society.

This paper introduces a new array synthesis method based on back propagation (BP) neural network agent model with a training set quickly generated by fast Fourier transform. Moreover, it can be conveniently generalized to array models on different scenarios. A test example for synthesizing uniformly spaced linear array with non-uniform excitations is conducted. Synthesis results prove the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed method.

Visual inspection of dual-energy X-ray radiographic images of cabin baggage requires high performance, but is hindered by various challenges such as low target prevalence, variability in target visibility, possible presence of multiple targets, and security personnel fatigue and inattention. Artificial intelligence (AI) techniques, particularly deep convolutional neural networks (CNNs), have shown promise in improving the automatic detection of explosives, even with low-resolution radiographic images, especially in high baggage throughput scenarios. In this paper, we focus on the detection of detonators as components of improvised explosive devices. The proposed approach involves comparing two experiments implemented in a deep CNN architecture using TensorFlow and Keras libraries. In the first experiment, raw dual-energy radiographic images without any enhancement were used. The second experiment includes three methods for contrast enhancement and feature extraction: the Contrast Limited Adaptive Histogram Equalization (CLAHE) method, the wavelet transform-based method, and the mixed CLAHE RGB-Wavelet method. In the latter two methods, Haar, Db2, Coif2, and Sym2 mother wavelet functions at two levels (HH and HL) were employed. The analysis of results focuses on a comparative study of performance measures such as accuracy, precision, recall, and F1 score. It was found that the preprocessing methods used in experiment 2, for the two evaluated classes (detonator and no detonator), achieved higher accuracy compared to the raw radiographic images used in experiment 1 (98.08%). The highest accuracies in experiment 2, with a value of 100%, were obtained with the CLAHE method (green channel in grayscale, blue channel in grayscale, and RGB channels) and the wavelet transform method with Haar mother wavelet at two levels HL © 2024 IEEE.

In simulation of railway traffic, it is crucial to incorporate realistic delays. Delay data can be obtained from historical records containing scheduled and actual times of trains. Labelled or unlabelled with delay causes, these data do not consistently indicate whether a delay is secondary (e.g., caused by another delayed train) or primary (i.e., caused by external or unknown events) for a specific simulation application due to missing, inconsistent, and biased data. In a realistic simulation, only primary delays should be injected, whereas secondary delays emerge from the simulated dynamics. The authors developed an approach to differentiate between primary and secondary delays that is flexible in regard to simulated resources, performing a network analysis and using different thresholds for blocking trains. Finally, the disaggregated primary delays were inserted into a simulation model, showing that it can reproduce the actual total delays with reasonable errors.

Traveling Salesman Problem (TSP) is a NP-hard problem, which has important application value in various fields. This paper optimizes and improves Genetic Algorithm and Simulates Annealing Algorithms respectively, combines each other's advantages and complements each other, and develops a Double-improved genetic-simulates annealing algorithm (DIGASA), which can solve TSP with better results and shorter time. The main improvements are as follows: (1) A new fitness function is defined that can increase with the evolution process; (2) The F-adaptive function is designed to optimize the crossover and mutation probability; (3) The local optimal search is introduced to speed up the convergence of the algorithm; (4) The adaptive Metropolis criterion is adopted in the group update part to make individual changes more adaptive; (5) The cooling function is improved to increase the tempering process. Subsequently, DIGASA is tested on eight standard TSP datasets of three sizes. Experimental results show that DAGASA performs well, almost reach the known optimal solution, and the running time is short, which proves the effectiveness and rationality of DIGASA.

Distributionally Robust Dispatch for Power System with Advanced Adiabatic Compressed Air Energy Storage Considering Frequency Security

In response to climate change and the need to decrease carbon emissions, the penetration of renewable energies into power grids is growing dramatically. However, the high intermittence and low inertia of renewable energy pose significant risks to frequency security. The advanced adiabatic compressed air energy storage (AA-CAES) is a promising solution to enhancing grid frequency security due to its flexible and high inertia properties. Therefore, based on distributionally robust optimization, this paper proposes a dispatch strategy with the participation of AA-CAES to enhance frequency security. Firstly, a dispatch-friendly model of AA-CAES is proposed and can reflect the impacts of the part-load features on the dis-/charging efficiencies and capacities. Subsequently, a frequency response model with AA-CAES is presented to establish frequency security constraints, ensuring compliance with minimum inertia and maximum frequency deviation requirements. Furthermore, to cope with the randomness of renewable energy, this proposed model is formulated as a distributionally robust optimization problem with a "min-max-min" structure. In the day-ahead stage, the optimal on/off schedules for generators and AA-CAES can be determined according to the worst probability distribution in the second stage for providing sufficient grid inertia. In the intra-day stage, the generation and AA-CAES can be adjusted to minimize the frequency deviation. Finally, numerical studies are tested on the modified IEEE-39 bus system. The simulation results demonstrate the validity and feasibility of the proposed strategy with AA-CAES in supporting grid frequency security. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Next generation Air Transportation systems are going to be strongly information-centered and will drive greater integration and connectivity of all the relevant communication endpoints. Focusing on the airborne domain, future communication infrastructures will require more integration among the different aircraft networks, overcoming the traditional partitioning into multiple, isolated security domains. Novel solutions are needed to support a more flexible approach, allowing bidirectional flows across domains with a strong assurance that safety-critical functions are adequately protected from misuse or cyber threats. The paper reports on research conducted to pilot the use of the seL4 microkernel to implement a high-assurance Cross-domain Guard Solution to support communication over domains of different assurance levels and enforce control on packets and payloads allowed to transition across those domains. Such a solution is designed to allow easy reconfiguration of the cross-domain policy while providing the highest guarantees of security by leveraging both the platform hardware security support and the formally-proven-correct seL4 separation kernel. The proposed solution also comprises a toolchain for quick and cost-effective customization and deployment: from the high-level representation of the desired configuration to the auto-generated configuration and integration code for the underlying platform. © 2024 IEEE.
