This research proposes a new strategy for a multi-lane truck platoon with tasks over long distances to merge into one lane for better traffic management and travel time optimization. The increasing demand for goods transportation and the growing concern over environmental issues have driven the need for more efficient and sustainable truck operations. We propose a new approach for automatically merging multi-lane truck platoons on public roads. When there is slow traffic ahead in some lanes, the platoon will merge into the fastest lane, reducing the travel time while ensuring safety and energy consumption by choosing an optimal gear. By the proposed approach, we can achieve more time-efficient truck operation and contribute to a more sustainable and intelligent transportation system. Based on our simulation results for two different situations, the platoon's travel time was reduced by up to 13% for the same path using our devised method. This study can serve as a foundation for further research into developing new technologies and solutions for enhancing the potential of truck platoon merging in multi-lane environments.

Nickel Phase Invades Ysz Electrolyte Through Ysz/Ysz Grain Boundary During Long-Term Operation of Sofc

A solid oxide fuel cell after long-term operation more than 5000 hours, nickel (Ni) phase is observed at YSZ/YSZ grain boundaries (GBs) within electrolyte. By using a humidified hydrogen, the single cell is electrochemically operated at 720℃ under 0.10 A·cm-2. The thickness of anode/electrolyte interface is thinned to less than 100 nm by a dual beam focused ion beam-scanning electron microscope (FIB-SEM). As-thinned electrolyte is analyzed by using High-Resolution Transmission Electron Microscopy (HR-TEM). The discrete nanostructures ranging from 50nm to 5nm are observed to have developed exclusively along the YSZ/YSZ grain boundaries. It is noted that the nickel phase is found in YSZ GBs of the electrolyte. FFT patterns shows that the invasion phase of nickel is FCC-Ni. A suggested mechanism has been put forth to explain the invasion of Ni phases into the electrolyte through YSZ/YSZ grain boundary. This mechanism takes into consideration the evolution of nanostructures, as well as the diffusion and nucleation of Ni, which involves the formation of Ni-OH species. © 2023, The Authors. Cause identification of single-line-to-ground fault in the distribution system is of great significance to the electric workers for fault isolation and rapid maintenance. The key of fault cause identification is to accurately and quickly distinguish human electric shock faults from non-biological faults. In this paper, human electric shock faults and non-biological faults are modeled and fault characteristics are analyzed. Based on the differences between shape and rotation characteristic of the volt-ampere characteristic curves, a fault cause identification method which can distinguish human electric shock faults from non-biological faults is proposed. simulations show the effectiveness of the method. © 2021 IEEE.

Our previous study proved that the acid-pretreatment process could efficiently activate red mud(RM)for the selective catalytic reduction(SCR)of NO_(x).However,in terms of the molding process,which is the key step determining whether it can be applied in large-scale industrial,the surface acidity and reducibility of catalyst always decreased dramatically,and part of surface area and pore structure were *** this study,we prepared monolithic honeycomb red mud(MHRM)catalysts with activated carbon(AC)as an accelerant and investigated the effect of AC on the *** results showed that the MHRM with 3 wt.%of AC(MHRM-AC3)exhibited the best SCR performance,and kept more than 80%NO_(x)conversion in the range of 325℃–400℃.Compared with the MHRM,MHRM-AC1,and HMRM-AC5,the MHRM-AC3 has more mesoporous and macroporous structures,which can provide more adsorption active *** AC significantly improved NH3 adsorption and surface reducibility,which was mainly due to the increase of the surface acid sites(especially the Brönsted acid sites),the concentration of Fe(II),and the surface adsorbed *** presence of more Fe(Ⅱ)enriched the surface oxygen vacancies,as well as the surface adsorbed oxygen,due to the charge imbalance and unsaturated chemical *** surface adsorbed oxygen exhibited more active than lattice oxygen owing to its higher mobility,which was conducive to NO_(x)reduction in the SCR reaction.

Risk Assessment with Generic Energy Storage under Exogenous and Endogenous Uncertainty

Current risk assessment ignores the stochastic nature of energy storage availability itself and thus lead to potential risk during operation. This paper proposes the redefinition of generic energy storage (GES) that is allowed to offer probabilistic reserve. A data-driven unified model with exogenous and endogenous uncertainty (EXU & EDU) description is presented for four typical types of GES. Moreover, risk indices are proposed to assess the impact of overlooking (EXU & EDU) of GES. Comparative results between EXU & EDU are illustrated in distribution system with day-ahead chance-constrained optimization (CCO) and more severe risks are observed for the latter, which indicate that system operator (SO) should adopt novel strategies for EDU uncertainty. © 2022, CC BY.

Optimal car-following control for intelligent vehicles using online road-slope approximation method

The design of a car-following control system is a multiobjective optimization problem that involves issues in rider safety, ride comfort, and fuel economy. This study proposes a hierarchical design of optimal car-following control where the system is intuitively split into two subsystems with different dynamic properties. Specifically, the high-level subsystem is a linear car-following system with a measurable disturbance of the preceding vehicle's acceleration, while the low-level subsystem is a nonlinear accelerationtracking system with an unmeasurable road slope. In the design of optimal car-following control, the measurable disturbance of the preceding vehicle's acceleration is considered from a theoretical perspective, and the unmeasurable road slope is estimated by a novel engineering-oriented approximation method to reduce the influence of driveline oscillation. The performance of the proposed optimal control scheme is evaluated through simulation and real-vehicle experiments, which show that the proposed control algorithm provides a satisfactory road-slope approximation accuracy and that the car-following performance of the proposed optimal control system is better than that of a factory-installed adaptive cruise controller.

Boosting Co2 Absorption and Desorption of Biphasic Solvent by Nanoparticles for Efficient Carbon Dioxide Capture

Introduction of nanoparticles (NPs) in the solvent was treated an efficient route to enhance mass and heat transfer, therefore, it was a promising strategy to boost carbon dioxide (CO2) absorption and desorption, especially for the biphasic solvent with weak absorption rate and low heat capacity. Herein, powder TiO2 and SiO2 with nanoscale was selected to prepare nanofluid for CO2 capture, based on DMPA-NHD biphasic solvent. The stability of nanofluid and the effect of NPs on CO2 absorption-desorption, phase-splitting was comprehensively explored in this work. Experimental results revealed that 0.06wt% 60nm TiO2 presented excellent performance for CO2 absorption. The liquid film resistance decreased by 11% after introducing NPs, therefore, the maximum mass transfer coefficient is 1.7×10-10 mol·cm-2·s-1·Pa (at 40 °C), increasing by 27% than the blank. In addition, 0.06wt% 50nm SiO2 leaded to significant promotion for CO2 desorption, with the maximum desorption rate at 3.9 mmol/min, and the desorption energy consumption reduced by 9.5% compared with blank case. Importantly, introduction of NPs had no significant effect on the phase splitting behavior, according to the time-profile phase-splitting measurements. The influence of NPs on biphasic solvent behavior was firstly explored to provide a reference for subsequent practice application. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

A C2 computing framework for unmanned systems to perform complex tasks is proposed using methods of system of systems engineering, which is formed by combining the macro-scale command and control (C2) process mechanism model (PREA loop) and micro-scale C2 process mechanism model (OODA loop). Guided by PREA loop and OODA loop, the computing framework is divided into four steps and three kinds of transformations. The four steps are design, construction, operation monitoring, and assessment. The three transformations are tactical feedback, campaign feedback, and strategic feedback. A C2 organization model of joint landing combat force is established against the background of a typical complex task of joint landing operation, and the C2 computing framework based on the PREA &OODA is used to implement the C2 activities of the joint landing combat force. The influence of the computing framework on the performance of unmanned systems under different task conditions is verified, including task coordination load, task efficiency and sensitivity of unmanned systems response. Phase-locked loop (PLL) based on traditional second-order generalized integrator (SOGI) cannot obtain the voltage, frequency and phase information accurately when there are multiple harmonic interference and DC offset in grid voltage. To solve this problem, this paper proposes an improved PLL that can suppress harmonic and eliminate DC component to extract the synchronous signal accurately. First of all, based on the derivation of distorted grid voltage expression, the problem offluctuation in extracting synchronous signal from three-phase unbalanced voltage with harmonic by traditional PLL is analyzed. Then, the design of improved PLL is proposed, which is composed of an improved second-order generalized integrator and a frequency correction component which can suppress harmonics and eliminate disturbances under the condition of grid voltage distortion, and has self-adaptability in large frequency offset. Determine the control parameters to ensure that the proposed PLL structure has a better rejection to harmonic distortion than previous approaches, and realize accurate tracking of grid fundamental frequency synchronization information. Finally, the behavior of the proposed system is verified with MATLAB/Simulink simulation and Hardware-in-Loop Experimental Platform which prove the proposed PLL can realize the synchronous tracking performance of grid frequency and phase quickly and accurately in the non-ideal grid environment, and the results are consistent with the theoretical analysis. © 2021 IEEE
