To extract important information from the document images, document layout analysis research has been carried out. Previous research analyzes document layouts only for specific document formats. This paper proposes a document layout analysis method that adopts pre-processing based on document image classification to analyze document layouts for various document formats. From the application examples, we have confirmed that the proposed method can correctly analyze document layout by using training models trained for each document format. Furthermore, to evaluate the usefulness of the proposed method, we have compared the F score of the proposed method for document layout analysis using a single training model covering various document formats and using a training model generated for each document format. CNN-Based Multi-Output and Multi-Task Regression for Supershape Reconstruction from 3D Point Clouds

In a number of industries, including computer graphics, robotics, and medical imaging, three-dimensional reconstruction is essential. In this research, a CNN-based Multi-output and Multi-Task Regressor with deep learning capabilities is proposed for three-dimensional object reconstruction from 3D point cloud. Our approach is grounded in the original Point Net architecture, which addresses the difficulties associated with convolution when applied to point clouds. Firstly, this paper is modified using a Multi-Output Regressor to accurately recreate Super forms from 3D point clouds. Using this method, we first extract features from the 3D point cloud using Point Net. After that, a Multi-Output Regressor receives these data and uses them to anticipate the Super shape parameters needed to reconstruct the shape. Taking in the data, the Multi-Output Regressor retrieved characteristics from Point Net and simultaneously predicts several outcomes. Second, a Multi-Task Regressor is used to modify the Point Net. The network gains from the capacity to transfer knowledge from one task to another, improving the model's overall performance. The model would forecast the ten parameters needed to create the shape in the case of rebuilding Super shapes. The test findings were better than expected;they are intriguing in terms of prediction accuracy and cost, and they update the result by 80%, which is a good accomplishment for the study. © 2025 Slovene Society Informatika. Measuring semantic similarity and analyzing authorial style are fundamental tasks in Natural Language Processing (NLP), with applications in text classification, cultural analysis, and literary studies. This paper investigates the semantic similarity and stylistic features of Nakba short stories, a key component of Palestinian literature, using transformer-based models, AraBERT, BERT, and RoBERTa. The models effectively capture nuanced linguistic structures, cultural contexts, and stylistic variations in Arabic narratives, outperforming the traditional TF-IDF baseline. By comparing stories of similar length, we minimize biases and ensure a fair evaluation of both semantic and stylistic relationships. Experimental results indicate that RoBERTa achieves slightly higher performance, highlighting its ability to distinguish subtle stylistic patterns. This study demonstrates the potential of AI-driven tools to provide more in-depth insights into Arabic literature, and contributes to the systematic analysis of both semantic and stylistic elements in Nakba narratives. © 2025 Association for Computational Linguistics.

Real-time advisory systems (RTASs) are a crucial milestone on the road toward fully autonomous driving. Current proof-of-concept RTASs, which observe drivers and their environment to provide advice, are effective in addressing fundamental traffic issues (e.g., congestion mitigation). However, interactions between these advisors and drivers have not yet been studied. In this article, we present insights from the first user study to explore drivers' interactions with these progressive systems. We query the reactions of 16 drivers to congestion mitigation advisors (CMAs) in a driving simulator. We discuss drivers' sentiments toward CMAs exhibiting diverse behaviors and their preferences for various aspects of the interactions such as the advice provided and the user interface. The effects of the behaviors on driver trust and adaption are also explored. We present recommendations to inform the design of cooperative advisory systems that will be ubiquitous as vehicle technology moves toward full automation. © 2009-2012 IEEE.

In this paper, we enrich Arabic Natural Language Processing (NLP) resources by introducing the "Nakba Topic Classification Corpus (NTCC)," a novel annotated Arabic corpus derived from narratives about the Nakba. The NTCC comprises approximately 470 sentences extracted from eight short stories and captures the thematic depth of the Nakba narratives, providing insights into both historical and personal dimensions. The corpus was annotated in a two-step process. One third of the dataset was manually annotated, achieving an IAA of 87% (later resolved to 100%), while the rest was annotated using a rule-based system based on thematic patterns. This approach ensures consistency and reproducibility, enhancing the corpus’s reliability for NLP research. The NTCC contributes to the preservation of the Palestinian cultural heritage while addressing key challenges in Arabic NLP, such as data scarcity and linguistic complexity. By like topic modeling and classification tasks, the NTCC offers a valuable resource for advancing Arabic NLP research and fostering a deeper understanding of the Nakba narratives. © 2025 Association for Computational Linguistics.

The high mobility of uncrewed aerial vehicles (UAVs) has led to their usage in various computer vision applications, notably in intelligent traffic surveillance, where it enhances productivity and simplifies the process. Yet, there are still several challenges that must be resolved to automate these systems. One significant challenge is the accurate extraction of vehicle foregrounds in complex traffic scenarios. As a result, this article proposes a novel vehicle detection and tracking system for autonomous vehicle surveillance, which employs Fuzzy C-mean clustering to segment the aerial images. After segmentation, we employed the YOLOv4 deep learning algorithm, which is efficient in detecting small-sized objects in vehicle detection. Furthermore, an ID assignment and recovery algorithm based on Speed-Up Robust Feature (SURF) is used for multi-vehicle tracking across image frames. Vehicles are determined by counting in each image to estimate the traffic density at different time intervals. Finally, these vehicles were tracked using DeepSORT, which combines the Kalman filter with deep learning to produce accurate results. Furthermore, to understand the traffic flow direction, the path trajectories of each tracked vehicle is projected. Our proposed model demonstrates a noteworthy vehicle detection and tracking rate during experimental validation, attaining precision scores of 0.82 and 0.80 over UAVDT and KIT-AIS datasets for vehicle detection. For vehicle tracking, the precision is 0.87 over the UAVDT dataset and 0.83 for the KIT-AIS dataset. © 2025 Qureshi et al.

Deep neural network for emojis-based sentiment classification

Sentiment classification using emojis on social media has become increasingly crucial in recent years. Social media commonly uses emojis to convey feelings, emotions, and moods. Hence, in this article, a Jellyfish Algorithm based on a Deep Convolution Neural Network (JA-DCNN) is developed for the sentiment classification of the emojis. Initially, the emoji images are collected from the open-source system. The proposed sentiment classification process uses a Jellyfish Algorithm (JA) optimized Deep Convolution Neural Network (DCNN). In DCNN, the hyperparameters are selected with the help of JA to improve accuracy and efficiency. The proposed method aims to improve the training features, maintain the resolution, reduce memory consumption, and improve the system’s accuracy. The proposed method decreases the computation cost and memory consumption, which empowers the system’s performance in emojis-based sentiment classification. The proposed method is implemented in MATLAB, and performance metrics of similarity and quality measurements evaluate performances. To validate the performance of the proposed methodology, it is compared with conventional methods such as MobilenetV2, ResNet18, and ResNet50, which have been proven to obtain better performance metrics. © Bharati Vidyapeeth's Institute of computer Applications and Management 2025.

With the advent of state-of-the-art computer and digital technology, modern civilisation has been immensely facilitated and optimised. The Internet of Things (IoT) has grown in importance in recent years, allowing us to monitor our physical environments and broadening our horizons. The "practice, science, or art" of farming is defined as tending to land, growing crops with the use of different tools and techniques, and then selling the harvested food. If farmers optimise their operations with the help of a Wireless Sensor Network (WSN), they will be able to work much more efficiently and effectively. Data aggregation involves collecting information from multiple sensors. The data aggregation process is optimised by applying metaheuristic techniques. A Genetic Algorithm (GA) is a method for modelling evolution that uses mutation, crossover, and natural selection as its building blocks. The key benefit of the Artificial Bee Colony (ABC) approach is that it simultaneously considers local and global search, and it doesn't get trapped calculating its local minima. Naturalistic algorithms like ALO model their hunting behaviour after that of ant-lions and doodlebugs. It manages to find a happy medium between exploration and exploitation with just one operator. Experimental evidences show that the proposed metaheuristic technique, ABC-ALO, which combines the best elements of Artificial Bee Colony and Ant Lion Optimisation, is superior to existing metaheuristic approaches in terms of lifetime computation, or the number of alive nodes at different round counts. © 2025

MIDDLE: A Mobility-Driven Device-Edge-Cloud Federated Learning Framework

Federated learning (FL) can be implemented in large-scale wireless networks in a hierarchical way, introducing edge servers as relays between the cloud server and devices. These devices are dispersed within multiple clusters coordinated by edges. However, the devices are typically mobile users with unpredictable trajectories, and the impact of their mobility on the model training process is not well-studied. In this work, we propose a new MobIlity-Driven feDerated LEarning framework, namely MIDDLE. MIDDLE addresses unbalanced model updates by capitalizing on model aggregation opportunities on mobile devices due to their mobility across edges. It consists of two components: on-device model aggregation, which aggregates models from different edges carried by mobile devices as they move across edges, and in-edge device selection, adjusting the current edge optimization direction through careful device selection. Theoretical analysis emphasizes that on-device model aggregation can reduce bias in model updating on edges and the cloud, thereby accelerating the FL model convergence. Building on this analysis, we introduce on-device global control averaging, modifying the training process on mobile devices and extending MIDDLE into MIDDLE+. Extensive experimental results validate that MIDDLE and MIDDLE+ can reduce the time steps to reach the target accuracy by 19.44% and 20.37% at least, respectively. © 2002-2012 IEEE.

Enhancing Weakly-Supervised Video Anomaly Detection With Temporal Constraints

Anomaly Detection has been a significant field in Machine Learning since it began gaining traction. In the context of computer Vision, the increased interest is notorious as it enables the development of video processing models for different tasks without the need for a cumbersome effort with the annotation of possible events, that may be under represented. From the predominant strategies, weakly and semi-supervised, the former has demonstrated potential to achieve a higher score in its analysis, adding to its flexibility. This work shows that using temporal ranking constraints for Multiple Instance Learning can increase the performance of these models, allowing the focus on the most informative instances. Moreover, the results suggest that altering the ranking process to include information about adjacent instances generates best-performing models. © 2013 IEEE.
