This work uses machine learning to verify whether the Brazilian climate influences international soybean price prediction. For this, climatic data, dollar quotes, inflation, and annual soybean production were collected from different data sources. Then, the collected data were pre-processed and grouped by Brazilian state. Afterward, data from the five most productive Brazilian states are chosen, such as Mato Grosso (MT), Mato Grosso do Sul (MS), Goiás (GO), Paraná (PR), and Rio Grande do Sul (RS). Afterward, predictive models are built using the long short-term memory (LSTM) method, which is applied in each chosen state dataset considering two different settings: with and without climatic data. Thus, two models were built for each Brazilian state, totaling ten predictors. In the experimental evaluation, when trained with climatic data, the PR model achieved the lowest values of root mean squared error (RMSE) and mean absolute error (MAE). Regarding predictors trained without climate data, the RS and PR obtained the lowest values of RMSE and MAE, respectively. After conducting statistical hypothesis tests, no significant difference was found among models, stating, with 95% certainty, that, in this study, the Brazilian climatic data did not influence the model performance for predicting soybean prices. On the other hand, one of the main contributions of work is conducting an unprecedented study about soybean price prediction using Brazilian climatic data. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

One of the health problems that require special attention is diabetes, besides the growth of this disease infection is increasing in various circles ranging from children, adults, men, women and the elderly. So to detect diabetes at an early stage, machine learning algorithms are the right choice to help detect indications of diabetes. This paper presents experimental results related to the exploration of the use of a Super Vector Machine (SVM) for data classification of Diabetes. The model used in this experiment is the Binary Classification Model. Based on the test results, the highest accuracy is obtained by using a total of 700 lines of data, which is 75,7143%. The Best estimated feasible point in Box Constraint is 272.29 with a KernelScale area of 72.627. © 2021 IEEE

Additive manufacturing is an innovative production approach aimed at creating products that traditional techniques cannot produce with the desired quality and requirements. Throughout the additive manufacturing process, data is either used (such as materials properties, printer characteristics and settings) or generated (such as monitoring data during printing, slicing strategies setting parameters). However, managing such data with complex relationships remains a significant challenge in both research and industry in the additive manufacturing field. To address this issue, we developed a modular ontology that can be used as the basis for a framework that supports decision-making systems, facilitate semanticsaware data management, and enhance the understanding and optimization of additive manufacturing processes. In this paper we focus on one of the state-of-the-art additive manufacturing approaches, i.e., powder bed fusion. To show the use and the feasibility of our approach, we created a knowledge graph for an actual additive manufacturing experiment based on our ontology, and show how queries relevant to domain experts can be answered using this knowledge graph. © 2024 CEUR-WS. Attacks on web applications are constantly growing in both frequency and severity. Abundant data on the internet stimulates hackers to attempt different types of cyberattacks. Attack detection using conventional approaches and outdated data processing techniques has become outmoded as a result of this development. The purpose of this study is to investigate IoT attacks and discuss the efficient ML technique implementation strategies for restricting security risks. Among different security techniques, Machine learning (ML) systems demonstrated commendable feasibility in improving network and device security for the Internet of Things. The study with contextual research recognises and comprehends that modified 'Support Vector Machine (SVM)' as well as 'Random Forest (RF)' ML techniques showed optimal performance in IoT attack detection and prevention. © 2023 IEEE.

Automatic liver tumor detection from computed tomography (CT) makes clinical examinations more accurate. However, deep learning-based detection algorithms are characterized by high sensitivity and low precision, which hinders diagnosis given that false-positive tumors must first be identified and excluded. These false positives arise because detection models incorrectly identify partial volume artifacts as lesions, which in turn stems from the inability to learn the perihepatic structure from a global perspective. To overcome this limitation, we propose a novel slice-fusion method in which mining the global structural relationship between the tissues in the target CT slices and fusing the features of adjacent slices according to the importance of the tissues. Furthermore, we design a new network based on our slice-fusion method and Mask R-CNN detection model, called Pinpoint-Net. We evaluated proposed model on the Liver Tumor Segmentation Challenge (LiTS) dataset and our liver metastases dataset. Experiments demonstrated that our slice-fusion method not only enhance tumor detection ability via reducing the number of false-positive tumors smaller than 10mm, but also improve segmentation performance. Without bells and whistles, a single Pinpoint-Net showed outstanding performance in liver tumor detection and segmentation on LiTS test dataset compared with other state-of-the-art models. © 2004-2012 IEEE.

Kernel Principal Component Analysis (KPCA) is an effective nonlinear extension of the Principal Component Analysis for fault detection. For large-sized data, KPCA may drop its detection performance, occupy more storage space for the monitoring model, and take more execution time in the online part. Reduced KPCA pre-processes the training data before applying the KPCA method, the proposed approach selects samples based on class interval to reduce the number of observations in the training data set while maintaining decent detection performance. This approach is applied to the Tennessee Eastman Process and then compared to some of the existing approaches.

An efficient diagnosis is very important for a multiprocessor system. In this paper, we present a (α, β) -trees combination S(u, X, α, β) and give some conclusions about the local diagnosis. Based on the (α, β) -trees combination, we give a conditional fault local diagnosis algorithm to identify the fault or fault-free status of each processor correctly under the MM ∗ model when the number of faulty nodes does not exceed α+ 2 β- 3 and every node has at least one fault-free neighboring node. According to our results, a connected network with a (α, β) -trees combination S(u, X, α, β) for a node u is conditionally locally (α+ 2 β- 3 ) -diagnosable at node u and the time complexity of our algorithm to diagnose u is O(α2β+ αβ2). As an application, we show that our algorithm can identify all the faulty nodes of n-dimensional star graph Sn if the faulty node number does not exceed 3 n- 8. Compared with existing algorithms, our algorithm allows more faulty node in a multiprocessor system. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Indoor positioning systems (IPS) are gaining higher attention recently due to the increased demand for indoor location aware services. Visible light communication (VLC) is a promising technology to use for IPS. In particular, received signal strength (RSS) based visible light positioning (VLP) systems are gaining high attention due to their low complexity and cost, in addition to higher positioning accuracy compared to their radio frequency (RF) counterparts. One of the main challenges in RSS based VLP systems is encountered when the receiver (the target) is tilted and not placed in parallel with the transmitters (the anchors). RSS based trilateration techniques require a computationally expensive and time-consuming process to solve the nonlinear problem of tilted receivers. Fingerprint based systems generally provide high positioning accuracy with short positioning time, and maybe used to circumvent the need to deal with the high complexity associated with tilted receivers. However, the design of a fingerprinting VLP system for tilted receiver has not been explored yet as far as receivers with a single photodetector (PD) are concerned. In this work, a fingerprint based VLP system for tilted receivers using artificial neural networks (ANN) is proposed, where different types of input features for training the positioning algorithm are studied. We show that using the components of the normal vector to the PD's surface in addition to RSS values provides an excellent positioning accuracy with an average positioning error of 25.41 cm and a remarkably low average positioning time less than $\mathbf{5} \boldsymbol{\mu} \boldsymbol{s}$ . In addition, important research directions for future work are discussed.

OSM: Leveraging model checking for observing dynamic 1 behaviors in aspect-oriented applications

In the intricate domain of software systems verification, dynamically model checking multifaceted system characteristics remains paramount, yet challenging. This research proposes the advanced observe-based statistical model-checking (OSM) framework, devised to craft executable formal models directly from foundational system code. Leveraging model checking predicates, the framework melds seamlessly with aspect-oriented programming paradigms, yielding a potent method for the analytical verification of varied behavioral attributes. Exploiting the transformative capacity of OSM framework, primary system code undergoes a systematic metamorphosis into multifaceted analysis constructs. This not only simplifies the model verification process but also orchestrates feature interactions using an innovative observing join point abstraction mechanism. Within this framework, components encompassing parsing, formal verification, computational analytics, and rigorous validation are intrinsically interwoven. Marrying the principles of model checking with aspect-oriented (AO) modularization, OSM framework stands as a paragon, proficiently scrutinizing and affirming system specifications. This ensures the unyielding performance of electronic health record systems amidst shifting preconditions. OSM framework offers runtime verification of both object-oriented and AO deployments, positioning itself as an indispensable open-source resource, poised to automate the enhancement of system performance and scalability. The advent of digital technology has contributed to experiencing liquid lifestyles and flexible work arrangements with different mobility routes and targets. Escaping the exhausting routine of commuting to and from work has been a key driver of digital nomadism, a phenomenon that has become increasingly widespread across the globe and is often centered around cross-border travel and expatriate settlement. Due to their frequent mobility, digital nomads face unique challenges in fostering a sense of place-belongingness compared to most other types of workers. Despite the popularity of digital nomadic work/life in the current public discourse, there is no standardized guidebook for understanding how digital technology already supports or could potentially support the sense of place-belongingness among these voluntary migrants. Motivated by this line of research, in our paper, we propose an initial guide with practical methodological considerations on how to investigate this phenomenon using qualitative and quantitative materials. Such studies can assist strategists and organizations in attracting new talent and fostering more inclusive environments.
