In the model of finite number (up to 24) of point Ising-like magnetic dipoles with magne-tostatic interaction on square 2D lattice within the framework of statistical physics, with using Gibbs formalism and by the means of Metropolis algorithm the heating dependence of temperature has been evaluated. The temperature dependence of the heat capacity on finite number of point dipoles has the finite value of maximum. Together with increase of the system in size the heating peak grows and moves to the area with higher temperature. The obtained results are useful in experimental verifica-tion of statistical models, as well as in development and testing of approximate calculation methods of systems with great number of particles. © (2016) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

Exact solutions of some fractional differential equations arising in mathematical biology

In the last decades Exp-function method has been used for solving fractional differential equations. In this paper, we obtain exact solutions of fractional generalized reaction Duff- ing model and nonlinear fractional diffusion-reaction equation. The fractional derivatives are described in the modified Riemann-Liouville sense. The fractional complex trans- form has been suggested to convert fractional-order differential equations with modified Riemann-Liouville derivatives into integer-order differential equations, and the reduced equations can be solved by symbolic computation.

Background: The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted gaps in health surveillance systems, disease prevention, and treatment globally. Among the many factors that might have led to these gaps is the issue of the financing of national health systems, especially in low-income and middle-income countries (LMICs), as well as a robust global system for pandemic preparedness. We aimed to provide a comparative assessment of global health spending at the onset of the pandemic;characterise the amount of development assistance for pandemic preparedness and response disbursed in the first 2 years of the COVID-19 pandemic;and examine expectations for future health spending and put into context the expected need for investment in pandemic preparedness. Methods: In this analysis of global health spending between 1990 and 2021, and prediction from 2021 to 2026, we estimated four sources of health spending: development assistance for health (DAH), government spending, out-of-pocket spending, and prepaid private spending across 204 countries and territories. We used the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD)'s Creditor Reporting System (CRS) and the WHO Global Health Expenditure Database (GHED) to estimate spending. We estimated development assistance for general health, COVID-19 response, and pandemic preparedness and response using a keyword search. Health spending estimates were combined with estimates of resources needed for pandemic prevention and preparedness to analyse future health spending patterns, relative to need. Findings: In 2019, at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, US$9·2 trillion (95% uncertainty interval [UI] 9·1–9·3) was spent on health worldwide. We found great disparities in the amount of resources devoted to health, with high-income countries spending $7·3 trillion (95% UI 7·2–7·4) in 2019;293·7 times the $24·8 billion (95% UI 24·3–25·3) spent by low-income countries in 2019. Autofluorescence imaging for improved visualization of joint structures during arthroscopic surgery

Background: The purpose of our study is to develop the arthroscopic autofluorescence imaging (AFI) system to improve the visualization during arthroscopic surgery by real-time enhancing the contrast between joint structures with autofluorescence imaging. Its validity was evaluated around the arthroscopic anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction, specifically improving the contrast between the femoral insertion site and its background. The feasibility of the AFI system was validated with bovine and human knees. The spectral responses of the femoral insertion site and its surrounding bone and cartilage were measured with a fluorospectrometer. A prototype of the AFI system was developed based on the spectral responses (SR) and test images of the insertion site. The accuracy was validated by evaluating the overlap between manually segmented insertion sites on the white light color images and on the corresponding spectral unmixed autofluorescence images. The final prototype of the AFI system was tested during arthroscopy in cadaveric knees. Results: The results showed that the joint structures have different SRs. Spectral unmixing enabled separation of the SRs and improved the contrast between the joint structures. The agreement between visible light and autofluorescence ligament insertions had a mean Dice coefficient of 0.84 and the mean Dice coefficient of the interobserver variability for visible light imaging was 0.85. Conclusions: We have shown that the femoral insertion site can be accurately visualized with autofluorescence imaging combined with spectral unmixing. The AFI system demonstrates the feasibility of real-time and subject-specific visualization of the femoral insertion site which can facilitate anatomic ACL reconstruction. In addition, the AFI system can facilitate arthroscopic procedures in other joints and can also be used as a diagnostic tool. © 2017, The Author(s).

We report on the shape relaxation of two-dimensional (2D) droplets, formed right after the spontaneous pinch-off of a capillary bridge droplet confined within a Hele-Shaw cell. An array of bridge droplets confined within a microchip device first undergoes neck thinning due to the evaporation-driven volume change. Subsequently, an abrupt topological change transforms each bridge droplet into a small central satellite droplet and the twin droplets pinned at the edges of the cell. We monitor the shape relaxation with high-temporal-resolution optical microscopy. Capillary action drives the 2D shape relaxation, while the viscous dissipation in the film retards it. As a result, the tip of the twin droplets exhibits a self-similar parabolic shape evolution. Based on these observations, the lubrication-approximation model accurately predicts the internal pressure evolution and the droplet tip displacement. The geometrical confinement substantially slows down the dynamics, facilitating visualization of the capillary-viscous regime, even for low-viscosity liquids. The characteristic relaxation timescale shows an explicit dependence on the confinement ratio (width/gap) and the capillary velocity of liquid. We verify the broad applicability of the model using different liquids.

The identification of the optic disc (OD) in fudus images is a useful landmark for a large number of ophthalmic diseases. The method proposed herein detects and segments the OD in a rather simple and fast manner, compared with those methods recently published. The procedure involves first: segment the blood vessel, then locate the OD using the highest intensity values found near the vessels. Finally, OD segmentation is performed using a modification of the elliptical Hough transform. The results are evaluated using five different metrics already used in the literature on the subject, and applied to a public database of 1200 fundus images, obtaining 89% in the Dice coefficient and 82% in Jaccard coefficient, and taking a processing time of 4.1 seconds per image. Compared with other published methodologies, the results presented with the current technique, improve speed performance while maintaining similar precision metrics.

Water is a notoriously difficult substance to model both accurately and efficiently. Here, we focus on descriptions with a single coarse-grained particle per molecule using the so-called Approximate Non-Conformal (ANC) and generalized Stockmayer potentials as the starting points. They are fitted using the radial distribution function and the liquid-gas density profile of the atomistic SPC/E model by downhill simplex optimization. We compare the results with monatomic water (mW), ELBA, as well as with direct Iterative Boltzmann Inversion (IBI) of SPC/E. The results show that symmetrical potentials result in non-transferable models, that is, they need to be reparametrized for new state-points. This indicates that transferability may require more complex models. Furthermore, the results also show that the addition of a point dipole is not sufficient to make the potentials accurate and transferable to different temperatures (300 K-500 K) and pressures without an appropriate choice of properties as targets during model optimization. Zero-watermarking techniques constructs zero watermarks without modifying the original host audio signal. This paper presents a robust zero-watermarking algorithm for stereo audio signals. The proposed algorithm exploits inter-channel redundancy of stereo audio signal in order to construct zero watermarks binary sequence. Here, the features are extracted from DWTDCT-SVD domain to construct zero watermarks, and are found to be robust against modified discrete cosine transform (MDCT)-based perceptual stereo audio coding schemes. Extensive experimental results assure that the proposed watermarking scheme is highly secure as well as robust to common attacks like, MP3 compression, cropping, filtering, re-sampling, amplitude scaling and re-quantisation, etc. To the best of our knowledge, zero-watermarking algorithm based on stereo audio properties is proposed first time.
