Engineering related research, such as research on worst-case execution time, uses experimentation to evaluate ideas. For these experiments we need example programs. Furthermore, to make the research experimentation repeatable those programs shall be made publicly available. We collected open-source programs, adapted them to a common coding style, and provide the collection in open-source. The benchmark collection is called TACLeBench and is available from GitHub in version 1.9 at the publication date of this paper. The identification of the optic disc (OD) in fudus images is a useful landmark for a large number of ophthalmic diseases. The method proposed herein detects and segments the OD in a rather simple and fast manner, compared with those methods recently published. The procedure involves first: segment the blood vessel, then locate the OD using the highest intensity values found near the vessels. Finally, OD segmentation is performed using a modification of the elliptical Hough transform. The results are evaluated using five different metrics already used in the literature on the subject, and applied to a public database of 1200 fundus images, obtaining 89% in the Dice coefficient and 82% in Jaccard coefficient, and taking a processing time of 4.1 seconds per image. Compared with other published methodologies, the results presented with the current technique, improve speed performance while maintaining similar precision metrics. © 2016 IEEE.

The approach that we propose in this paper is part of the optimization of the collaborative learning in the e-learning environment. It is particularly interested in the automatic creation of groups called homogeneous teams, based on a set of criteria to highlight the similarity between the learners. This similarity is calculated using a similarity index that is the Euclidean distance. Then an optimal path guiding each community is built, through a dynamic adaptation of the optimization technique by ant colony. In this article, we have implemented the methodological framework and the algorithmic modeling of our approach, given that our future work will focus on the implementation and the empirical validation of our design.

The research of one-dimensional Ising model with the different number of neighbors and the different sign of the exchange integral were performed. The clustered order parameter is proposed for the description of the magnetic transition in spin systems regardless of the sign of the exchange integral and the number of neighbors. The method of calculation of critical field to change the magnetic states was presented. For diluted 1D antiferromagnetic model two plateaus in magnetization behavior are observed, and explained. Influence of length of interaction plays critical role for phase transition of dipoles system. Dipoles on hexagonal lattice show the phase transition only in model of long range interaction, and there isn't critical behavior for short range. The approach to calculation of spin system in Heisenberg model is proposed.

Data mining remains as one of the most important research domain in Knowledge Discovery and Database (KDD). Moving deeper, Association Rule Mining (ARM) is one of the most prominent areas in detecting pattern analysis especially for crucial business decision making. It aims to extract interesting correlations, frequent patterns, association or casual structures among set of items in the transaction databases or other data repositories. Even though most of these data repositories are dealing with flat files, current trend is focusing on using relational Database Management System (DBMS) for the more systematic and structured management of data. In response to the importance of adopting relational database, in this paper we implement MySQL (My Structured Query Language) as our association rule mining database engine in testing benchmark dense datasets which available from Frequent Itemset Mining (FIMI) online repository. Our study is focusing on Eclat algorithm as well as its variants in generating frequent and interesting rule, as a continual from our previous studies. The performance result shows a promising signal as to confirm on the benefits of relational database mechanism in storing any transaction data. © 2015 IEEE.

Manifold-learning techniques are routinely used in mining complex spatiotemporal data to extract useful, parsimonious data representations/parametrizations;these are, in turn, useful in nonlinear model identification tasks. We focus here on the case of time series data that can ultimately be modelled as a spatially distributed system (e.g. a partial differential equation, PDE), but where we do not know the space in which this PDE should be formulated. Hence, even the spatial coordinates for the distributed system themselves need to be identified - to "emerge from"- the data mining process. We will first validate this "emergent space" reconstruction for time series sampled without space labels in known PDEs;this brings up the issue of observability of physical space from temporal observation data, and the transition from spatially resolved to lumped (order-parameter-based) representations by tuning the scale of the data mining kernels. We will then present actual emergent space "discovery" illustrations. Our illustrative examples include chimera states (states of coexisting coherent and incoherent dynamics), and chaotic as well as quasiperiodic spatiotemporal dynamics, arising in partial differential equations and/or in heterogeneous networks. We also discuss how datadriven "spatial" coordinates can be extracted in ways invariant to the nature of the measuring instrument. Such gauge-invariant data mining can go beyond the fusion of heterogeneous observations of the same system, to the possible matching of apparently different systems. We investigate quantum state tomography(QST) for pure states and quantum process tomography(QPT) for unitary channels via adaptive measurements. For a quantum system with a d-dimensional Hilbert space, we first propose an adaptive protocol where only 2d. 1 measurement outcomes are used to accomplish the QST for all pure states. This idea is then extended to study QPT for unitary channels, where an adaptive unitary process tomography(AUPT) protocol of d2+d.1measurement outcomes is constructed for any unitary channel. We experimentally implement the AUPT protocol in a 2-qubit nuclear magnetic resonance system. We examine the performance of the AUPT protocol when applied to Hadamard gate, T gate(/8 phase gate), and controlled-NOT gate,respectively, as these gates form the universal gate set for quantum information processing purpose. As a comparison, standard QPT is also implemented for each gate. Our experimental results show that the AUPT protocol that reconstructing unitary channels via adaptive measurements significantly reduce the number of experiments required by standard QPT without considerable loss of fidelity.
