This paper proposes an adaptive multi-class support vector machine for simultaneous microarray classification and gene selection. By evaluating the gene ranking significance, the adaptive multi-class support vector machine is shown to encourage an adaptive grouping effect in the process of building classifiers, thus leading a sparse multi-classifiers with enhanced interpretability. Based on a reasonable correlation between the two regularization parameters, an efficient solution path algorithm is developed for solving the proposed support vector machine. Experiments performed on the leukaemia data set are provided to verify the obtained results.

This paper presents a comparative study between scale, rotation and translation invariant descriptors for shape representation and retrieval. Specifically, we studied Fourier, angular radial transform and image moment descriptors for shape representation. Since shape is one of the most widely used image feature exploited in content-based image retrieval systems, we studied for each descriptor, the number of coefficients needed for indexing and their retrieval performance. Results showed that moment descriptors present the best performance in both terms of shape representation quality as well as in the amount of required coefficients.

This paper presents a stereo based vision system which will be used to determine the stethoscope location on the human body in a cardiac auscultation tele-diagnostic system. The system is aimed at overcoming the problem of insufficient number of doctors comparing with the higher number of patients. The stereo vision system simulates human vision. The reconstruction of the point in three-dimensional space can be done by using the knowledge of camera calibration, image rectification, epipolar geometry, and disparity computation.

Peculiarity-oriented mining (POM) is a new data mining method consisting of peculiar data identification and peculiar data analysis. Peculiarity factor (PF) and local peculiarity factor (LPF) are important concepts employed to describe the peculiarity of points in the identification step. One can study the notions at both attribute and record levels. In this paper, a new record LPF called distance based record LPF (D-record LPF) is proposed, which is defined as the sum of distances between a point and its nearest neighbors. It is proved mathematically that D-record LPF can characterize accurately the probability density function of a continuous m-dimensional distribution. This provides a theoretical basis for some existing distance based anomaly detection techniques. More important, it also provides an effective method for describing the class conditional probabilities in the Bayesian classifier. The result enables us to apply peculiarity analysis for classification problems. A novel algorithm called LPF-Bayes classifier and its kernelized implementation are presented, which have some connection to the Bayesian classifier. Experimental results on several benchmark data sets demonstrate that the proposed classifiers are effective.

This paper presents a constraint-based contract net protocol for agent-based configuration of a Build-To-Order (BTO) supply chain. Applicability of BTO supply chain configuration using intelligent agents has been proved in many research works. Mainly this is due to the fact that both agent-based systems and supply chains consist of a number of independent units that have to collaborate in order to achieve the goal set. Here presented negotiation protocol is a development of the contract net protocol. The latter has been extended with iterative negotiation process, constraint-based information exchange/processing and other features. This allowed improving solutions, but the negotiation time increased. The analysis of the negotiation time for the modified protocol showed that it linearly depends on the product complexity (number of product components) and quadratically on the being configured supply chain complexity (number of suppliers). Fingerprint recognition algorithm based on minutiae has large computation, slow recognition speed as a result of complex processing, such as image enhance, smooth, binary, and thinning. A novel fingerprint recognition algorithm Using 2DPCA(Two-Dimensional Principal Component Analysis) has been proposed in this paper. Firstly, original images are decomposed into high-frequency and lowfrequency components with the help of Wavelet Transform (WT), and high-frequency components are ignored, so the prime features of original images can be attained. Secondly, the projected features are solved by 2DPCAFinallyfingerprint recognition can be realized by Radial Basis Function Neural Network (RBFNN). The algorithm combines the optimization of the 2DPCA and the adaptability of RBFNN. The experimental results based on FVC2002 have verified that the proposed algorithm has higher robustness to the fingerprint images which has the change of shift and rotation and light than IDFFWNN. © 2009 Binary Information Press.

The stability of networked control systems (NCSs) with compensation for data packet dropout is analyzed under a novel model in this paper. This work is the first study for the relationship between the compensated algorithm of data packet dropout and the model of NCSs. A Markov chain model is established to describe the dynamical process of the NCS, which is modeled as a four-event constraint asynchronous dynamical systems (ADS). To compensate the lost packets, a compensator with n-predictor is established. The sufficient conditions for exponential stability of the new model are derived by Lyapunov theory in the form of Linear Matrix Inequalities (LMIs). Numerical example shows the correctness and effectiveness of our analysis.

In this paper,iterative learning control(ILC) is applied to network-based control problems in which communication channels are subject to random transport delay and data *** averaging ILC algorithm is used to overcome the random *** analysis,it is shown that ILC can perform well and achieve asymptotical convergence in ensemble average along the iteration axis,as far as the probability of the transmission delay and data dropout are known a priori.A unique contribution in this work is to illustrate the applicability of ILC to nonlinear systems while both the one-step delay and the data-dropout phenomena are taken into *** analysis and simulations validate the effectiveness of the ILC algorithm for network-based control tasks.

We address robust stabilization problem for networked control systems with nonlinear uncertainties and packet losses by modelling such systems as a class of uncertain switched systems. Based on theories on switched Lyapunov functions, we derive the robustly stabilizing conditions for state feedback stabilization and design packet-loss dependent controllers by solving some matrix inequalities. A numerical example and some simulations are worked out to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed design method.

A partial feedback control scheme with a probabilistic fuzzy estimator (PFE) is presented for the robust control of quantum systems. In this scheme, a probabilistic fuzzy simulator is trained to estimate the quantum states for feedback control of quantum systems. Usually, the estimated state is fed back to design a controller. However, when the estimated quantum state is an almost-eigenstate, a projective measurement will be triggered for the quantum system and the measurement results will be fed back to construct the controller and regulate the fuzzy estimator. This scheme is a partial feedback strategy with controlled discontinuous measurement, where the quantum measurement serves as a control tool and is helpful for driving the quantum system to a desired state tracking even in the presence of unknown disturbances and stochastic noises. An example of a two-spin-¿ system is also presented to demonstrate the proposed approach.
