Ecological Footprint Model of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport from the Perspective of the Local Community

Soekarno-Hatta International Airport is prone to various environmental problems. The problem of population growth has an impact on increasing economic activity which directly impacts the environment. In every production activity from the environmental side, it will bring up the carrying capacity of the environment and the carrying capacity of the environment or ecological footprint. The problem will be difficult if it turns out that the ecological footprint that occurs exceeds the capacity of the existing environmental carrying capacity, also for airport problems. This will result in the airport being unsustainable. This article will discuss the model of the airport environmental footprint that is currently occurring at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport by utilizing the opinions of respondents who live and have activities around the airport. The factor analysis method is used to process the respondent's data to obtain the factors that influence the environmental footprint and then through these findings a model can be developed which is expected to be able to abstract the current conditions. The research results show that the dominant environmental footprint at Soekarno-Hatta airport is overload airport activities impact, operational slot time optimization, and renewable of airport energy, which can then be built as an instrument to evaluate, build and develop airport control policies that are environmentally friendly and sustainable.

Among a set of tools to emerge in recent years in environmental management, one appears to meet the criteria necessary to bridge this gap is the environmental footprint analysis based on biophysical reality of sustainable living, people must use natural renewable products and services not sooner than they are replacedand produces no waste faster than nature can absorb. The purpose of this study is to develop a model of noise environment footprint toward sustainability airport with the environmental assessment at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport. The results showed that the airport ecological footprint of the model can be built through the factors analysis that can give an idea of the influence of ecoairport. The conclusion of this study is to obtain the noise ecological footprint provides a method for the total impact of air transport to be assessed, the ecological footprint can be used as a communication and awareness tool to inform communities about the impact they make. It can lead to shifts to public transport for airport access, ecological footprint can be used by airports and airlines to identify operations where energy efficiency measures can be made and where resource consumption can be reduced

In an oil drilling area, there are two oil drilling companies that have obtained permits to drill. As time goes by, the availability of existing petroleum decreases. To anticipate natural resources the government only prioritizes one company. Competition occurs between the two of them to explore petroleum from the ground so that they can drill. The purpose of this study is to provide an overview, how to make a system dynamics model related to the problem of oil drilling as an increasingly limited natural resource, by taking the case of the relationship between drilling companies in facing business competition. The method used is system dynamics with a standard model of mutual difficulties (drifting goals). The result obtained is a system dynamics model that can be used to demonstrate the behavior of a simulated petroleum drilling model to get an overview or condition of the limitations of petroleum and future availability.

Drought and salinity intrusion (DSI) increasingly threaten agriculture and aquaculture in coastal regions. Focusing on the Vietnamese Mekong Delta (VMD), we examined how DSI from 2000 to 2020 influences rice cropping, aquaculture area, and rice yield across seven coastal provinces. In-situ discharge and salinity monitoring, combined with satellite-derived land-use data and yield validation, revealed the highest DSI impacts during the 2010–2011, 2015–2016, and 2019–2020 dry seasons. Local governments employed strategies such as drought-tolerant rice, improved irrigation, and revised cropping schedules to mitigate losses, yet further investments remain vital. Our findings provide evidence-based insights for managing DSI and strengthening agricultural resilience in the VMD and other vulnerable deltas worldwide.

Perception Analysis of Airport Noise on Environment, Sosial, and Economic at Halim Perdana Kusuma Airport

The increase in aircraft noise is an inevitable impact of Halim Perdanakusuma Airport (HLP) commercial operations since 2014. The perception of noise risk from people living around airports is a factor that must be considered for formulating strategic, comprehensive airport noise control plans and policies, and participatory. The purpose of this study is to analyze the noise conditions and the perception of environmental noise risk to the perception of socioeconomic risks that live around the HLP Airport. The results of the WECPNL calculation in area of Jaticempaka and Makasar was ranged between 73.80—79.72. The environmental noise risk of the community in HLP Airport's vicinity was studied from knowledge aspects, perception aspects, and behavior aspects. Most of respondent were in the moderate category of environmental noise risk knowledge and environmental noise risk perception. While for environmental noise risk behavior aspects most respondent were in the low category. The social and economic risk perception for most respondent were in the moderate category. The conclusion of this research is that the community settlements in HLP Airport's vicinity at the distance of 300 m and 600 m does not meet the environmental noise standard for a residential area which is regulated at 55 dB(A). The ideal area for settlement use in the vicinity of HLP Airport is Makassar area which is located 600 m from HLP Airport's runway.

Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) are widely applied in various industries and fields. Because they use a variety of rotor types, from single rotors to multi-rotors, UAVs offer a wide array of functions. However, continuously rotating rotors can be dangerous if they accidentally encounter foreign objects or bare hands. Therefore, non-rotor UAVs are the focus of discussion and modification in the present study. Non-rotor UAVs do not contain visible rotor mechanical components. Compared with the development of popularized multirotor UAVs, that of non-rotor UAVs is challenging in terms of structure and flight control. To address this challenge, wind tunnel structure models were developed in this study for different levels of aerodynamic force, and computer-aided engineering was used to conduct structural and flow field analyses to determine the key elements that reinforce non-rotor UAV structures. The research results revealed that the thickness and fillet design at the joint of the non-rotor UAV aerodynamic wind tunnel system were crucial factors influencing the system's performance. Motor rotors can be embedded inside support structures to reduce airflow turbulence in the wind tunnel.

Purpose: Impacts of long term, chronic stress cause concern among farm operators, workers, and their family members. The team involved with this work has built partnerships and program collaborations that connect the issue of chronic farm stress with high rates of workplace injury and occupational health problems common in the agricultural industry. Acute and chronic stress contribute often to distraction while performing work activity and feelings of being overwhelmed, and they complicate a farm operator’s or employee’s ability to make optimal operational and financial decisions. Our farm stress educational and technical support programs have focused on the biology and physiology of chronic stress, stress management practices and behaviors, communication, and taking control of one’s financial future. Methods: A team of approximately 30 educators, researchers, and partner personnel created a comprehensive web-based resource center focused on interventions connected to chronic farm stress, suicide prevention, communication, and financial tools that help guide farmers and ranchers through difficult financial conditions and decisions. These efforts have also focused on teaching farmers, ranchers, agricultural service providers, and other allied community professionals about linkages between chronic stress, high injury rates (resulting from fatigue, distraction, and error rates), and disease (cardiovascular, type 2 diabetes, infection, etc.). Findings: The work is ongoing and has been led by a cross-disciplinary team with member expertise including agricultural health and safety, financial management, farm family relationships, program evaluation, and human health and well-being. An intervention evaluation “question bank” has been created that contains specific program evaluation questions developed for 16 different program curricula/series including those developed by the team or by other partner organizations. Anaerobic digestion (AD) is a traditional process to achieve energy recovery from a variety of organic waste streams. However, the AD performance in terms of biogas production and process stability relies on the cooperation of the functional microbial communities and the operating parameters. The latest progress in machine learning for AD processes including optimization, parametric prediction, perturbation detection, and long-term monitoring were critically reviewed. The explainable data-driven models including black-box machine learning (ML) models and nature-inspired optimization techniques were compared, while summarizing their applications. The review also highlighted the challenges, perspectives, and opportunities for future research of applying ML for AD processes. © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Classification of the Structural Integrity by the General Vibration Method

Traditionally, for the purpose of classifying the integrity of an engineering structure, one may use the information of the natural frequencies or mode shapes or some other measures derived from the two. In this research, we propose a classification method on the basis of the general vibration model. The general vibration model is essentially a set of differential equations describing the dynamics of the structure under consideration. For the purpose of damage detection, a deviation of the general vibration model from the dynamic equilibrium point marks the occurrence of the damage. To demonstrate the effectiveness of the method, we study two simplest dynamical systems consisting of one- and two-concentrated masses subjected to a prescribed dynamic load. The structural damages are introduced artificially by reducing the stiffness of spring in the structures. We find that the general vibration model is more sensitive to damages than the traditional methods.
