In the domain of industrial automation many companies nowadays need to serve a mass market while at the same time customers demand individual customer-specific solutions. Such customizations often apply to individual products only but may also be needed at the level of product lines for whole market segments. To handle this problem, development is frequently organized in software ecosystems (SECOs), i.e., interrelated software product lines involving internal and external developers. This paper introduces an approach supporting feature-oriented, distributed development and evolution in industrial SECOs. It is common industrial practice to first derive initial products from a product line, then adding and adapting features to satisfy individual customer requirements, possibly followed by merging back these changes into the original product line. Our approach goes beyond this practice and also allows to share new or updated features by transferring them to other product lines in the ecosystem. This is for instance useful when a feature developed in an individual customer project becomes relevant for another market segment or when updates of features need to be transferred to related products in the ecosystem. We describe and motivate research challenges based on the industrial ecosystem of an industry partner. We outline the key elements and operations of our approach, including an implementation in our FORCE2 development environment. We demonstrate application scenarios from the well-known Pick-and-Place Unit (PPU) system as a proof of concept.

3D display has become increasingly popular in many fields. It can provide incredible immersion compared with 2D display. There are many researches referring to the change of user about no matter subjective experience or objective physiology signal while watching 3D content. Similarly, in this paper, we study the variation of user’s EEG when the user watched 3D content. However, we only focus on parallax cue and avoid other cues of 3D content by using Random Dot Stereogram(RDS) as visual stimulus. We designed an experiment which asked the subject to watch RDS with nine kinds of parallaxes(0,±0.5,±1.1,±1.3,±1.7). The users watched one RDS for 1 minute and then closed eyes and rest for 1 minute every time. During watching, EEG signal with 30-channel was recorded. The result suggests that significant variation of the user’s EEG data occurred in the Alpha(8-13Hz) and Beta(14-30Hz) frequency band by different parallax’s comparison. And we found not only parallax but also electrode position can impact the user’s EEG data significantly. Accurately, the EEG data has a significant change in six electrodes position in both frequency bands including CZ 、 PZ 、 OZ 、 O2 in international 10-20 system. It means those electrode positions we detect can be regarded as typical positions where we record EEG signal. It will simplify the process of EEG signal acquisition when we need to study the relationship between parallax cue of 3D display and the user further. © 2018 SID.

Multi-scale dynamic graph convolutional network for hyperspectral image classification

Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) has demonstrated impressive ability to represent hyperspectral images and to achieve promising results in hyperspectral image classification. However, traditional CNN models can only operate convolution on regular square image regions with fixed size and weights, so they cannot universally adapt to the distinct local regions with various object distributions and geometric appearances. Therefore, their classification performances are still to be improved, especially in class boundaries. To alleviate this shortcoming, we consider employing the recently proposed Graph Convolutional Network (GCN) for hyperspectral image classification, as it can conduct the convolution on arbitrarily structured non-Euclidean data and is applicable to the irregular image regions represented by graph topological information. Different from the commonly used GCN models which work on a fixed graph, we enable the graph to be dynamically updated along with the graph convolution process, so that these two steps can be benefited from each other to gradually produce the discriminative embedded features as well as a refined graph. Moreover, to comprehensively deploy the multi-scale information inherited by hyperspectral images, we establish multiple input graphs with different neighborhood scales to extensively exploit the diversified spectral-spatial correlations at multiple scales. Therefore, our method is termed 'Multi-scale Dynamic Graph Convolutional Network' (MDGCN). The experimental results on three typical benchmark datasets firmly demonstrate the superiority of the proposed MDGCN to other state-of-the-art methods in both qualitative and quantitative aspects. Cross-lingual Entity Alignment (CEA) aims at identifying entities with their counterparts in different language knowledge graphs. Knowledge embedding alignment plays an important role in CEA due to its advantages of easy implementation and run-time robustness. However, existing embedding alignment methods haven't considered the problem of embedding distribution alignment which refers to the alignment of spatial shapes of embedding spaces. To this end, we present a new Adversarial Knowledge Embedding framework (AKE for short) that jointly learns the representation, mapping and adversarial modules in an end-to-end manner. By reducing the discrepancy of embedding distributions, AKE can approximately preserve an isomorphism between source and target embeddings. In addition, we introduce two new orthogonality constraints into mapping to obtain the self-consistency and numerical stability of transformation. Experiments on real-world datasets demonstrate that our method significantly outperforms state-of-the-art baselines.

In the past decades many density-functional theory methods and codes adopting periodic boundary conditions have been developed and are now extensively used in condensed matter physics and materials science research. Only in 2016, however, their precision (i.e., to which extent properties computed with different codes agree among each other) was systematically assessed on elemental crystals: a first crucial step to evaluate the reliability of such computations. We discuss here general recommendations for verification studies aiming at further testing precision and transferability of density-functional-theory computational approaches and codes. We illustrate such recommendations using a greatly expanded protocol covering the whole periodic table from Z=1 to 96 and characterizing 10 prototypical cubic compounds for each element: 4 unaries and 6 oxides, spanning a wide range of coordination numbers and oxidation states. The primary outcome is a reference dataset of 960 equations of state cross-checked between two all-electron codes, then used to verify and improve nine pseudopotential-based approaches. Such effort is facilitated by deploying AiiDA common workflows that perform automatic input parameter selection, provide identical input/output interfaces across codes, and ensure full reproducibility. Cloud computing represents the promise of outsourcing of scientific computing such as matrix multiplication. However, this can introduce new vulnerabilities such as information leakage. Cloud server intentionally or unintentionally may reveal sensitive input matrices of the client as well as multiplication results to unauthorised entities. In this paper, we propose two protocols that use sparse matrices to prevent information leakage in outsourcing matrix multiplications to cloud computing without encryption. The protocols are considered lightweight compared to other comparable approaches. We also provide a running example to demonstrate how the protocols ensure no information leakage of client data.

General formation control for multi-agent systems with double-integrator dynamics

We study the general formation problem for a group of mobile agents in a plane, in which the agents are required to maintain a distribution pattern, as well as to rotate around or remain static relative to a static/moving target. The prescribed distribution pattern is a class of general formations that the distances between neighboring agents or the distances from each agent to the target do not need to be equal. Each agent is modeled as a double integrator and can merely perceive the relative information of the target and its neighbors. A distributed control law is designed using the limit-cycle based idea to solve the problem. One merit of the controller is that it can be implemented by each agent in its Frenet-Serret frame so that only local information is utilized without knowing global information. Theoretical analysis is provided of the equilibrium of the N-agent system and of the convergence of its converging part. Numerical simulations are given to show the effectiveness and performance of the proposed controller. Copyright © 2018, The Authors. All rights reserved.

The existing domain-specific methods for mining information networks in machine learning aims to represent the nodes of an information network into a vector format. However, the real-world large-scale information network cannot make well network representations by one network. When the information of the network structure transferred from one network to another network, the performance of network representation might decrease sharply. To achieve these ends, we propose a novel framework to transfer useful information across relational large-scale information networks (FTLSIN). The framework consists of a 2-layer random walks to measure the relations between two networks and predict links across them. Experiments on real-world datasets demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed model.

Service-based cloud applications are software systems that continuously evolve to satisfy new user requirements and technological changes. This kind of applications also require elasticity, scalability, and high availability, which means that deployment of new functionalities or architectural adaptations to fulfill service level agreements (SLAs) should be performed while the application is in execution. Dynamic architectural reconfiguration is essential to minimize system disruptions while new or modified services are being integrated into existing cloud applications. Thus, cloud applications should be developed following principles that support dynamic reconfiguration of services, and also tools to automate these reconfigurations at runtime are needed. This paper presents an extension of a model-driven method for dynamic and incremental architecture reconfiguration of cloud services that allows developers to specify new services as software increments, and the tool to generate the implementation code for the services integration logic and the deployment and architectural reconfiguration scripts specific to the cloud environment in which the service will be deployed (e.g., Microsoft Azure). We also report the results of a quasi-experiment that empirically validate our method. It was conducted to evaluate their perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, and perceived intention to use. The results show that the participants perceive the method to be useful, and they also expressed their intention to use the method in the future. Although further experiments must be carried out to corroborate these results, the method has proven to be a promising architectural reconfiguration process for cloud applications in the context of agile and incremental development processes. Prior to the deep learning era, shape was commonly used to describe the objects. Nowadays, state-of-the-art (SOTA) algorithms in medical imaging are predominantly diverging from computer vision, where voxel grids, meshes, point clouds, and implicit surface models are used. This is seen from numerous shape-related publications in premier vision conferences as well as the growing popularity of ShapeNet (about 51,300 models) and Princeton ModelNet (127,915 models). For the medical domain, we present a large collection of anatomical shapes (e.g., bones, organs, vessels) and 3D models of surgical instrument, called MedShapeNet, created to facilitate the translation of data-driven vision algorithms to medical applications and to adapt SOTA vision algorithms to medical problems. As a unique feature, we directly model the majority of shapes on the imaging data of real patients. As of today, MedShapeNet includes 23 datasets with more than 100,000 shapes that are paired with annotations (ground truth). Our data is freely accessible via a web interface and a Python application programming interface (API) and can be used for discriminative, reconstructive, and variational benchmarks as well as various applications in virtual, augmented, or mixed reality, and 3D printing. Exemplary, we present use cases in the fields of classification of brain tumors, skull reconstructions, multi-class anatomy completion, education, and 3D printing.
