The used of centralized system in government are common nowadays. However, by using the centralized database, only one authority that has the system can do everything to the the system. This aspect of centralized system can lead to collusion with the government officials or middleman in the process of issuing building permit. In this paper, we propose a blockchain based system to record all the transactions in the process of issuing a building permit. The purpose is to increase the transparency, data integrity and make it easier to track the transactions with the feature in blockchain. We use a case study of the building permit issuance process in one stop-service local government office in Jakarta. After knowing the process, we determine the participant, asset, transaction and access control of participant in the blockchain system. © 2022 IEEE.

Nation’s rapid urbanization growth and economic development, waste generation has significantly increased. An important environmental concern on a global scale is waste management. In a majority of the world’s nations, including India’s metropolitan centers, organic waste management is a major problem. Therefore, it is necessary to create a productive system that will either eliminate or significantly decrease this issue. It will assist us in effectively maintaining a hygienic environment, and natural atmosphere. The implementation of smart cities requires an effective garbage collection system. In the given paper, we propose a smart waste collection and management (SWCM) system centered on the Internet of Things (IoT) architecture. A deep learning (DL) approach for classifying waste is being used. The proposed framework includes the use of smart bins for the collection of garbage, the categorization of that waste into several groups, and the management of smart waste. For this study, data from smart garbage cans were gathered. The data was normalized during preprocessing. The efficacy of the proposed system is assessed and compared with conventional as well as existing recent studies based on performance metrics such as classification accuracy (%) and power consumption (%). The results of the study reveal that the proposed approach is impactful in the smart collection and management of waste. © Bharati Vidyapeeth's Institute of Computer Applications and Management 2024.

This paper discusses distribution network pricing in the presence of energy communities (EC) as new emerging user types. ECs can take many forms and by utilizing distributed energy resources (DER), they can aim to effectively minimize electricity bills of their members. However, if ECs either operate over the public distribution network or have a connection to it, they will impose costs on the distribution system operator (DSO). According to the requirements set by the European legislation, it should be made sure that ECs contribute to the cost sharing of the distribution system. In this paper, we discuss items related to distribution network pricing and what kind of challenges ECs might impose on the business of DSOs. As present distribution tariffs are designed for traditional load customers, they might not be suitable for different types of ECs as such. Present tariffs might result in a free-riding problem, which is problematic, e.g., from equality and cost-reflectivity perspectives. This pushes DSOs to develop alternative pricing schemes so that the requirements set to pricing by the legislation and common pricing principles are fulfilled. There is a clear need for a more thorough quantitative research regarding distribution tariffs of ECs in the future. © 2021 The Institution of Engineering and technology.

Accurate and efficient diagnosis of COVID-19 remains a significant challenge due to the limitations of current detection methods, such as blood tests and chest scans, which can be time-consuming and error-prone. This study aims to compare the performance of basic and hybrid data mining algorithms in diagnosing COVID-19, using blood test results and clinical information to identify the most effective approach. A dataset of 200 records from suspected and infected COVID-19 patients, with 23 characteristics and one diagnostic class, was analysed. Nine data mining algorithms were tested: four basic algorithms (Naive Bayes, Support Vector Machine, Decision Tree, K-Nearest Neighbor) and five hybrid algorithms (Random Forest, AdaBoost, Majority Voting, XGBoost, Bagging). The study also integrated Response Surface Methodology (RSM) and Adaptive-Network-based Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) to enhance model performance. The Bagging algorithm demonstrated superior performance with an accuracy of 88%, sensitivity of 74%, and F-criterion of 78%. The integration of RSM and ANFIS further showed that a smart model could be developed for efficient pandemic crisis management, achieving up to 100% accuracy when considering key factors like AST, Albumin, and CRP. The findings suggest that Bagging and hybrid data mining algorithms can significantly improve COVID-19 detection, reducing time and errors in identifying exposed individuals. The study highlights the potential of combining machine learning techniques with RSM-ANFIS models for effective pandemic management and decision-making in medical settings. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature 2025.

The implementation of digital signatures aims to improve the integrity, authenticity, non-repudiation, and confidentiality of digital data in an information system. This article focuses on implementing signatures for data communication and avoiding digital data forgery. The number of complaints from several campus managers will indicate forgery of signatures in validating completion data from students is the author’s background in conducting this research. This research is also expected to be a form of organizing smart campuses. This study uses the best-practice of waterfall system development lifecycle and data sources consisting of reference data from various previous studies and data from observation of some cases. With the digital signatures, the information system can anticipate the threat of cybercrime in public administration. Digital signatures information system also considered adequate, efficient, and accountable as a new form of organizing a smart campus.

The transition to 5G technology is disrupting the markets for wireless services and creating a higher need for energy to accommodate the required changes to deploy 5G technology. This study analyzes how patents of energy-efficient and power-saving features in mobile technologies have evolved and how these are impacted by the transition to 5G networks. The paper presents an overview of companies’ patent profiles related to energy efficiency and power saving in the mobile communication sector. The results show that the highest number of patent applications dealing with energy efficiency and power saving are associated with the topic of network interfaces. © 2022, The Authors. The ageing of the population creates new heterogeneous challenges for age-friendly living. The progressive decline in physical and cognitive skills tends to prevent elderly people from performing basic instrumental activities of daily living and there is a growing interest in technology for aging support. Digital health today can be exercised by anyone owning a smartphone and parameters such as heart rate, step counts, calorie intake, sleep quality, can be collected and used not only to monitor and improve the individual’s health condition but also to prevent illnesses. However, for the benefits of e-health to take place, digital health data, either Electronic Health Records (EHR) or sensor data from the IoMT, must be shared, maintaining privacy and security requirements but unlocking the potential for research an innovation throughout EU. This paper demonstrates the added value of such interoperability requirements, and a form of accomplishing them through a cross-project pilot. © 2022 CEUR-WS. All rights reserved.

In FEM-based EEG and MEG source analysis, the subtraction approach has been proposed to simulate sensor measurements generated by neural activity. While this approach possesses a rigorous foundation and produces accurate results, its major downside is that it is computationally prohibitively expensive in practical applications. To overcome this, we developed a new approach, called the localized subtraction approach. This approach is designed to preserve the mathematical foundation of the subtraction approach, while also leading to sparse right-hand sides in the FEM formulation, making it efficiently computable. We achieve this by introducing a cut-off into the subtraction, restricting its influence to the immediate neighborhood of the source. In this work, this approach will be presented, analyzed, and compared to other state-of-the-art FEM right-hand side approaches. Furthermore, we discuss how to arrive at an efficient and stable implementation. We perform validation in multi-layer sphere models where analytical solutions exist. There, we demonstrate that the localized subtraction approach is vastly more efficient than the subtraction approach. Moreover, we find that for the EEG forward problem, the localized subtraction approach is less dependent on the global structure of the FEM mesh, while the subtraction approach is sensitive to the mesh structure even at a distance to the source. Additionally, we show the localized subtraction approach to rival, and in many cases even surpass, the other investigated approaches in terms of accuracy. Especially for the MEG forward problem, where Biot-Savart’s law is employed, we show the localized subtraction approach and the subtraction approach to produce highly accurate approximations of the volume currents close to the source. The localized subtraction approach thus reduces the computational cost of the subtraction approach to an extent that makes it usable in practical applications without sacrificing the rigorousness and

Source analysis of Electroencephalography (EEG) data requires the computation of the scalp potential induced by current sources in the brain. This so-called EEG forward problem is based on an accurate estimation of the volume conduction effects in the human head, represented by a partial differential equation which can be solved using the finite element method (FEM). FEM offers flexibility when modeling anisotropic tissue conductivities but requires a volumetric discretization, a mesh, of the head domain. Structured hexahedral meshes are easy to create in an automatic fashion, while tetrahedral meshes are better suited to model curved geometries. Tetrahedral meshes thus offer better accuracy, but are more difficult to create. Methods: We introduce CutFEM for EEG forward simulations to integrate the strengths of hexahedra and tetrahedra. It belongs to the family of unfitted finite element methods, decoupling mesh and geometry representation. Following a description of the method, we will employ CutFEM in both controlled spherical scenarios and the reconstruction of somatosensory evoked potentials. Results: CutFEM outperforms competing FEM approaches with regard to numerical accuracy, memory consumption and computational speed while being able to mesh arbitrarily touching compartments. Conclusion: CutFEM balances numerical accuracy, computational efficiency and a smooth approximation of complex geometries that has previously not been available in FEM-based EEG forward modeling.
