Flamelet-like models applied in scramjet combustors:A state of art and prospect

Developing supersonic combustion models with efficiency,accuracy and practicality is important foundation to deeply understand the complex combustion processes in scramjet *** by efficiency and intuition,the flamelet-like models are widely used models in computational combustion ***,the supersonic combustion flow field has the nature of strong compressibility,multiple modality,and multiple scales,which poses a great challenge to the traditional flamelet-like models with fixed boundary conditions,and then the complex chemical reaction mechanisms that may face will impose additional computational *** this context,this paper reviews the flamelet-like models used in scramjet engines,and summarizes prominent issues in the application practice,including modeling partially premixed combustion,defining progress variable,solving temperature efficiently,evaluating assumed Probability Density Function(PDF)models,and treating mixture fraction ***,possible prospects and directions of improvements are proposed and highlighted for the flamelet-like *** fully describe the physicochemical scenario and address the raised challenges,these improvements are dedicated to dealing with the compressibility,temperature rise,time-scales,species of interest,multi-inlet combustion,the progress variable definition,and the higher Mach number flight condition.

A Transient-Pressure-Based Numerical Approach for Interlayer Identification in Sand Reservoirs

Almost all sandstone reservoirs contain interlayers. The identification and characterization of these interlayers iscritical for minimizing the uncertainty associated with oilfield development and improving oil and gas *** interlayers outside wells using identification methods based on logging data and machine learning isdifficult and seismic-based identification techniques are expensive. Herein, a numerical model based on seepageand well-testing theories is introduced to identify interlayers using transient pressure data. The proposed modelrelies on the open-source MATLAB Reservoir Simulation Toolbox. The effects of the interlayer thickness, position,and width on the pressure response are thoroughly investigated. A procedure for inverting interlayer parametersin the reservoir using the bottom-hole pressure is also proposed. This method uses only transient pressuredata during well testing and can effectively identify the interlayer distribution near the wellbore at an extremelylow cost. The reliability of the model is verified using effective oilfield examples.

This article describes the standardization trends in the International Organization for Standardization/ International Electrotechnical Commission Joint Technical Committee 1 (ISO/IEC JTC 1)/Subcommit-tee 29 (SC 29), and International Telecommunication Union - Telecommunication Standardization Sector (ITU-T) Study Group 16 (SG16) as well as ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 27 and ITU-T SG17. Both SC 29 and SG16 deal with multimedia coding and transmission and are shaping the future of entertainment and business communication. To improve the efficiency of rust removal on telecommunication towers, we developed a prototype of a compact, lightweight rust-removal tool using a diffractive optical element and high-power laser that weighs only 500 g. With the aim of applying this technology to asbestos removal, we experimentally irradiated asbestos with a laser, and the results of the experiment suggest that using a laser in this manner can melt and remove asbestos and reduce its risk as a health hazard to workers. © 2022 Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corp.. The penetration of photovoltaics (PV) in the electric power system increases to make the decarbonization step successful. However, high penetration causes an increase in the voltage at the point of common coupling (PCC) due to the reverse power flow. Volt-VAR control plays a vital role in regulating the voltage by adjusting the reactive power. This paper offers the development of volt-VAR control with voltage sensitivity. Voltage sensitivity is obtained from changes in PCC voltage caused by PV active power. Using voltage sensitivity, the control operation changes as the PV active power changes, giving the impression that the PV system is 'responsible' for changes to the system. This study was verified by comparing the voltage profiles on without control, conventional control, and proposed control cases. The results show that the voltage profile caused by the proposed control is within the desired limits amidst the high PV output power. © 2022 IEEE.

This paper presents the development of a force feedback algorithm for remote control of the heavy-duty manipulators of the ITER blanket remote handling system (BRHS). In the process of inserting the gripping fingers into a first wall (FW) panel during the FW maintenance campaign, the deflection of the remote handling system caused by the weight of the manipulator and use of the radiation-hardened sensors in a high-radiation environment pose technical challenges in terms of available control methods. We approach these challenges by implementing a force feedback algorithm in the control system for the FW gripper having two gripping fingers. In this 2-peg-in-hole system, we installed a 5-axis force torque sensor at the base of each gripping finger for precise force detection. The sensor signals are linked with 6-degrees-of-freedom movement commands, which are based on the tool center point (TCP) at the master gripping finger. Movements to avoid excessive loading include rotation and Cartesian movement. We implemented the force feedback algorithm in an integrated control PC that operates an industrial robot. Using this approach, the gripping fingers were successfully inserted without excessive loading. Verifications to further optimize the force feedback algorithm are planned with our test equipment. The implementation of the force feedback algorithm in successful trials is an important step towards using the algorithm for the BRHS.

In recent years, information technology has been widely used in the field of education, which has played a positive role in promoting the education reform of higher education. In view of the disconnection between theoretical teaching and practical teaching in undergraduate education, it is necessary for teachers and students to study and solve the problem together. In this paper, based on the learning of Robot Principles and Application, from the perspective of undergraduate students in the integration of theory and practice, this paper summarizes the project-driven way to realize the student-subject learning mode: students learn theoretical knowledge independently and design 'knowledge-experiment-test' software as the task, to realize the integration of theory and practice learning method. The definition of a predominant geogenic source of ions and its respective background ranges are powerful tools for detecting contaminations coming from the unconventional gas industry at earlier stages. Reference data to compare pre- vs post-drilling may enforce the planning, monitoring, and management in favor of unconventional production sustainability in the long-term. In 2022, the Brazilian Government launched a pilot project named "Transparent well" for public consultation, intending to foment its incipient unconventional hydrocarbon industry. In this context, this study presents preliminary results to compound an environmental baseline to structure reference data about water resources in a pre-drilling scenario. Then, a characterization of surface water and a geochemical background proposal of Indaiá and Borrachudo basins, two potential tight gas plays inside the São Francisco Basin, was performed to understand hydrochemical processes and susceptibilities previously the unconventional industry development. Two sampling campaigns collecting 13 samples each were made to characterize the study area in two different scenarios. Chemical analysis was performed using an Inductively Coupled Plasma - Mass Spectrometry. To settle a hydrochemical background and its respective environmental thresholds, the ±2 Median Absolute Deviation method was applied. Piper and Chadha's diagrams were used to define water-type and the major cations/anions dynamics in the environment. Piper diagram shows three distinct predominant water-type in the study area, Group 1 (Ca-Mg-HCO3-type);Group 2(Na-K-Ca-HCO3-type);and Group 3 (Ca-Na-HCO3-type). Groups 1 and 2 reflect a geological control in the hydrochemistry due to an interaction between the surface water and interlayered strata of Carbonates and Siltstones from the Bambuí Group whereas Group 3 suggest a seasonal influences in water chemistry. Wireless communications, encompassing mobile communications, satellite communications, wireless local area networks (LANs), and fixed wireless systems, play a major role in communication networks. In preparation for the World Radiocommunication Conference 2023 (WRC-23) that was held in November 2023, the International Telecommunication Union - Radiocommunication Sector (ITU-R), a de jure standards organization, conducted studies and discussions broader than those limited to Beyond 5th-generation mobile communication system (5G) and 6G. The 3rd Generation Partnership project (3GPP), a private standardization organization, has also started to study specifications after Release 18 under the name "5G-Advanced," as a further evolved version of 5G. The IEEE 802.11 Working Group (WG), a WG of the Standards Association under the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), is studying next-generation wireless LANs. In recent years, digital core technology as an emerging numerical simulation method has been widely used in many fields. In this paper, the three-dimensional pore throat structure of sandstone was extracted by digital core computed tomography (CT) technique. And establish a core's realistic 3D pore network model by 3D visualization image processing technique for gas-liquid two-phase unsaturated microscopic seepage simulation. To realize two-phase unsaturated seepage simulation, using two-phase volume averaged momentum equation and continuity equation to construct the two-phase unsaturated seepage coupling equation. The two-phase saturation and relative permeability variations were described by the saturation relation and the VG-Mualem model. The results show that the saturation variation is uneven during unsaturated seepage due to the finger-in phenomenon. There is a dominant channel in the two-phase fluid seepage process, the flow lines are more intensive in the large pore throat, and the flow velocity varies widely. The relative permeability of two-phase at different parts is similar, the relative permeability curve is concave downward. The final relative permeability of the non-wetting phase is closed to 1. © 2023 57th US Rock Mechanics/Geomechanics Symposium. All Rights Reserved.
