A nonlinear neural network based on an analog DNA toehold mediated strand displacement reaction circuit

The DNA toehold mediated strand displacement reaction is one of the semi-synthetic biology technologies for next-generation computers. In this article, we present a framework for a novel nonlinear neural network based on an engineered biochemical circuit, which is constructed by several reaction modules including catalysis, degradation and adjustment reaction modules. The proposed neural network possesses an architecture that is similar to that of an error back propagation neural network, and is built of an input layer, hidden layer and output layer. As a proof of concept, we utilize this nonlinear neural network based on an analog DNA toehold mediated strand displacement reaction circuit to learn the standard quadratic form function and analyze the robustness of the nonlinear neural network toward DNA strand concentration detection, DNA strand displacement reaction rate and noise. Unlike in error back propagation neural networks, the adaptive behavior of this DNA molecular neural network system endows it with supervised learning capability. This investigation will highlight the potential of analog DNA displacement reaction circuits for implementing artificial intelligence.

Technological innovation is a dynamic process that spans the life cycle of an idea, fromscientific research to production. Within this process, there are often a few key innovations that significantly impact a technology's development, and the ability to identify and trace the development of these key innovations comes with a great payoff for researchers and technology managers. In this article, we present a framework for identifying the technology's main evolutionary pathway. What is unique about this framework is that we introduce new indicators that reflect the connectivity and the modularity in the interior citation network to distinguish between the stages of a technology's development. We also show how information about a family of patents can be used to build a comprehensive patent citation network. Finally, we apply integrated approaches of main path analysis (MPA)-namely global MPA and global key-route main analysis-for extracting technological trajectories at different technological stages. We illustrate this approach with dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs), a low-cost solar cell belonging to the group of thin-film solar cells, contributing to the remarkable growth in the renewable energy industry. The results show how this approach can trace the main development trajectory of a research field and distinguish key technologies to help decision makers manage the technological stages of their innovation processes more effectively. © 2021 Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc.. Skeletal bone age assessment (SBAA) is very important for both sides of parents and physicians to evaluate the irregular growth of children. SBAA process is carried out by radiologists who visually inspect the radiology image of the left hand according to the Greulich and Pyle (GP) or the Tanner-Whitehouse 2 (TW2) methods. However, human eyes have their own limitations and therefore the visual inspection procedure by radiologist involves a degree of error and also intra personal variability. To address these drawbacks, a deep learning-based approach is proposed here to precisely act on these X-ray images. The employed database contains 1391 X-ray left-hand image from Los Angeles children's hospital and 200 left hand x-ray image from different age and gender from Iranian children from Namazi hospital of Shiraz. Our results demonstrate the efficiency of proposed model (mean absolute error of 0.89) in this field.

The influence of social media lifestyle interventions on health behaviour: A study on patients with major depressive disorders and family caregivers

Background: The World Health Organisation (WHO) predicts that depression will be the second leading cause of diseases by 2020. If depression is not properly treated, it can develop into a depressive disorder and increase the risk of *** biopsychosocial factors, lifestyle is said to be a major cause of this disease and has led to an increase in its prevalence. Objective: The objective of this study was to study the intentions of patients with major depressive disorders and family caregivers to change their health behaviour and lifestyle through social media influences. Methods: This was a cross-sectional study. Participants were invited to take part in the research and give their informed consent. The sample consisted of 157 patients diagnosed with major depressive disorders, aged 18 years and over, and 110 family caregivers. Data were collected from the questionnaires designed according to the I-Change Model (ICM). Statistical results to confirm causal relationships were analysed based on Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) and by using the SmartPLS 3 software. Results: Patients and family caregivers were questioned about their perspectives on health matters and the influence on their motivations and intentions to change patients’ health behaviour and lifestyle, particularly social media interventions. The patients received information and counselling about health matters, health awareness, motivation and their intentions to change their health behaviour. The family caregivers were presented with the same information and counselling to motivate them to influence the depressive patients’ intentions to change their health behaviour. Conclusion: It is possible that lifestyle interventions on social media can influence the intention to change health behaviour in both patients and caregivers. The maritime industry is one of the most hazardous industries in the world. Risk assessment is applied in various contexts within this industry to prevent hazardous situations affecting systems and humans. Risk assessment in the maritime industry relates to accident situations and cybersecurity. In addition, many industries have studied data protection to mitigate risks associated with their customers’ personal data. The maritime industry has collected a significant amount of personal data within its systems, including passenger information, cargo details, and ship location data. Data protection assessment is a significant issue to security and privacy enhancement. In terms of data protection, The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) outlines risk assessment provisions in Article 35 (Data Protection Impact Assessment, DPIA), setting the standard for all industries. The risk assessment method is not specified as it depends on the organization's context and other related factors. system-Theoretic Process Analysis (STPA) is chosen and applied with DPIA as the assessment method in this study through a comparison with other methods commonly used in the maritime industry. STPA identifies risk causes in systems and human interactions, guiding mitigation efforts. This research aims to assess risk in data protection by applying STPA with DPIA for regulation alignment. The outcome shows the STPA approach in data protection assessment with four steps of analysis. This generic approach will enhance the processing of data protection in the maritime industry, both in operations and assessment, which could be applied in real business in the future. © 2025

The present research explores the behavioral perspective of the millennial generation on job pursuit intention on Multi-Level Marketing companies through social media. Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) and technology Acceptance Model (TAM) are used to assess the job pursuit intention. The data were analyzed by Structural Equation Model (SEM). Analysis reveals the strong influence of attitude on job pursuit intention. The result in this research can be used as the theoretical basis that can be very beneficial for MLM companies, investors, and academicians in marketing. Further theoretical and practical suggestions are discussed. © 2021 The Authors. Published by Elsevier B.V.

This study presents an investigation on the role of temperature on the failure of diffusion-bonded Aluminium and Nickel. During diffusion bonding processes, where the bulk materials is subjected to join at the temperature of 300 K, 500 K, and 700 K with pressure of 10 MPa for 200 ps, the applied temperature is significantly influencing the final result of diffusion-bonded Al-Ni both in term of qualitative analysis (diffusion behaviour) and quantitative calculation (concentration distribution). In this case, as the temperature increased, the thickness of the interfacial region/diffusion zone is increased. However, when it is subjected to tensile test, the applied temperature is only has a significant impact to the ultimate tensile strength, that as the temperature is increased the ultimate tensile strength is decreased, but the applied temperature during diffusion welding is not influencing both time and strain value of the sample when it starts to failure. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Blockchain technology has demonstrated to be extremely efficient at processing distributed transactions in a secured manner. It consists of a wide range of applications. B. To handle smart contacts and Bitcoin cash. Blockchain systems may allow automatic data exchange and thinking about, resulting in increased effectiveness and lower costs. This is made possible by the adoption of contract technology and decentralized ledgers. Additionally, blockchain technologies can enhance integrity and security of data, enabling more precise and reliable analysis of information. Ethereum along with information science integration may make it easier to create decentralized apps, opening up novel industries and income sources. However, there are still issues with adaptability, interconnection, and complexity in the combination of blockchain technology and data science. For this type of technology to achieve all of its potential advantages, it is imperative that studies and advancements in this field persist. Blockchain applications for data science are currently being investigated. This essay examines how blockchain technology is used in cybersecurity and data science.
