Business models and business processes represent key concepts when describing the architectural and implementation level of an enterprise supporting the realization of the business strategy. Both levels, that are often seen and treated independently of each other, are changed and adapted in daily business - either due to market needs or by the adoption of various kinds of innovation. This often makes it very difficult to align both levels initially and even more challenging to keep these two levels aligned over time so as to ensure optimal business performance and resource utilization. This paper presents a method to systematically identify misalignments of business models and business processes as a first important step toward aligning them. The method includes a mapping based on the Business Model Canvas (BMC) and practically relevant business process modeling concepts based on the Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN). The alignment analysis of these two concepts is described in a structured procedure. Its application is demonstrated and evaluated by means of a real-world industrial case study and its results are presented and discussed. © 2025 Proceedings of the International Conferences IADIS Information Systems 2025 and e-Society 2025. In virtual Software-Defined Networks (vSDN) - where multiple tenants share the same physical SDN topology - control plane resilience has utmost importance. Although previous network hypervisor placement methods were able to provide single link and hypervisor failure resilience with short control paths, the placement had to be frequently adjusted if the vSDN requests changed dynamically. In this paper we propose two approaches which follow an intelligent design principle, i.e., besides maximizing acceptance ratio of current vSDN requests they also prepare the placement for the future. Our first method uses a representative request set and the network flexibility metric to maximize preparedness to unknown failures and traffic changes. Our second approach proposes a self-adjusting control plane, where for each new request set a single hypervisor instance and its corresponding control path might be migrated to a new location. We conduct thorough simulations to investigate the performance of the approaches, and demonstrate that they significantly outperform previous methods from the literature. © 2023 IEEE.

The Internet of Things (IoT) is a rapidly growing field that necessitates long-range, low-power communication solutions, particularly in remote areas. Direct-to-satellite IoT (DTS-IoT) connectivity is an appealing option because it eliminates the need for ground-based intermediaries, thereby simplifying and accelerating the widespread implementation of IoT infras-tructure. Low Power Wide Area Network (LPWAN) technology, with its long-range connectivity and low power consumption, is well-suited for Massive Machine-Type Communication (mMTC), a key application of IoT. Furthermore, LPWAN technology shows potential for communication with Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites, which offer wide coverage and low latency, making them ideal for IoT device connection. This paper investigates the integration of LPWA technology with LEO satellite-based IoT, a crucial step toward advancing communication mechanisms in this domain. The paper provides a comprehensive survey of LPWAN technologies suitable for DTS-IoT applications. In the context of LEO satellite communications, it is essential to consider certain fundamental aspects. This includes the challenges faced by LPWAN technology in DTS-IoT on LEO satellites, such as the Doppler Effect, limited field of view, visibility windows, and random access. LoRa and LR-FHSS are two promising candidates for DTS-IoT on LEO satellites as they meet the link budget requirement at altitudes over 500 km. They also exhibit good Doppler resilience compared to other technologies;however, further research is necessary to confirm these findings. In summary, there is a need for future work in developing algorithms and implementing them in hardware to overcome the existing limitations. © 2023 IEEE.

Ultra-high-performance seawater sea-sand concrete(UHPSSC)presents a prospective solution to address the natural resource shortage in marine infrastructure *** eliminate the corrosion risk of steel fibers and broaden the applicability of UHPSSC,this study investigates the mechanical properties and free chloride ion content as well as microstructures of UHPSSC reinforced with superfine stainless wires(SSWs)under natural *** results indicate that 1.5%SSWs can remarkably improve the flexural strength and toughness of UHPSSC by 127%and 1724%,respectively,and mitigate the long-term strength degradation of *** strong interfacial bond between SSW and UHPSSC improves the compactness of UHPSSC,thus reducing the growth space for Ca(OH)_(2) crystals and swelling hydration products generated by sulfate and magnesium *** can be supported by the observed reduction in the Ca/Si ratio of C–S–H gels,CH crystal orientation index,and ***,through mechanisms such as pull-out,rupture,overlapping network,and internal anchor interface,SSWs effectively prevent microcrack growth and propagation,transforming single long-connected microcracks into multiple-emission microcracks centered on ***,the free chloride ion content of the composites at 28 and 180 d meets the ACI 318-19 standard requirements for concrete exposed to *** compliance is attributed to the chloride immobilization facilitated by Friedel’s salt and C–S–H gels within the interfaces around SSWs and ***,SSWs-reinforced UHPSSC exhibits considerable potential for applications in sustainable marine infrastructures,demanding long-term mechanical properties and high durability.

LegalLens is a competition organized to encourage advancements in automatically detecting legal violations. This paper presents our solutions for two tasks Legal Named Entity Recognition (L-NER) and Legal Natural Language Inference (L-NLI). Our approach involves fine-tuning BERT-based models, designing methods based on data characteristics, and a novel prompting template for data augmentation using LLMs. As a result, we secured first place in L-NER and third place in L-NLI among thirty-six participants. We also perform error analysis to provide valuable insights and pave the way for future enhancements in legal NLP. Smart home healthcare technology has emerged as a promising solution for providing effective and personalized care to bedridden patients. By incorporating various smart devices and sensors into the home environment, healthcare providers can monitor the health status of patients remotely and intervene promptly when necessary. This paper presents a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) on smart home healthcare technology for bedridden patients. A search spanning five database sources (IEEE Xplore, ACM Digital Library, Science@Direct, Scopus, and Web of Science) from 2018 to 2023 was conducted. This review highlights the key findings and trends in smart home healthcare technology for bedridden patients, including the benefits of such technologies, challenges faced, and future directions for research in this area. By promoting SLR methodologies enhances the quality and reliability of evidence in this field, facilitating the development of effective smart home healthcare solutions for bedridden patients. © 2023 IEEE.

The development of Smart Systems has been followed by the emergence of security risks associated with cyber and artificial intelligence. Besides being the most significant source of risk for organizations, cybersecurity is also the most challenging risk for organizations to objectively define and assess. These challenges include: (i) the changing threat landscape, (ii) the complexity and dynamic nature of the technology landscape within the organization, and (iii) issues related to human resources. The complexity of the risk landscape increases with the massive development and utilization of artificial intelligence technologies. On the other hand, there are several limitations in security risk assessment. The main limitation of qualitative risk assessment approaches is the high subjectivity of the assessment, while quantitative assessments are highly dependent on the availability of adequate data. This study is intended to determine how the information security risk landscape in the cyber and artificial intelligence environment, challenges in security risk assessment, and prospective risk assessment methods can be effectively used in a Smart Systems, organization, or integrated in a Smart City. © 2023 IEEE.

Improved QT ınterval estimation using conditional generative adversarial networks

QT interval carries essential information about ventricular depolarization and repolarization. Therefore, in many investigations, it is vital to determine the QT interval accurately and monitor the corresponding QT interval variations. This paper presents a novel implementation of the Generative Adversarial Networks (GAN) to predict the QT waveform interval from the electrocardiogram. The network then estimates the Q and T locations to determine the QT interval. The accuracy of the proposed method in measuring the QT interval was 94.10%. The procedure is evaluated against ground truth performed by expert physicians, and the limits of agreement are used as the measure of performance. The bias in the estimate of the Q locations was 2.92 ms, with 11.48 ms as an upper limit of agreement and − 5.65 ms as the lower limit. The bias in estimating the T location was 1.14 ms with an upper limit of 15.04 ms and a lower limit of − 12.79 ms. Moreover, the bias in the estimate of the QT interval was − 7.10 ms with an upper limit of 50.17 ms and a lower limit of − 64.38 ms. These limits of agreements are clinically acceptable and show that the estimate of the QT interval agrees with the expert’s annotations. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag London Ltd., part of Springer Nature 2024.

This paper analyses the implementing of the Independent Single Buyer (ISB) mechanism in the Java-Bali electricity system to foster efficiency and competition. Three cost and electricity production scenarios were analyzed, focusing on the cost of generation (BPP) and operational efficiency. Ultra Super Critical (USC) technology at IPP PLTU Jawa 7 significantly improves efficiency and reduces fuel prices per unit. This study also highlights the importance of the authority held by PLN to regulate system operations independently. The simulation results show significant cost savings without reducing electricity production, supporting efficiency in the ISB scheme, and operating high-efficiency IPP plants. © 2024 IEEE.

the provision of meteorological, climatological, air quality and geophysical data is crucial in an archipelago and mountainous country like Indonesia. The availability of this data is closely related to the provision of internet access in areas that store BMKG sensors. But sometimes geographical constraints such as the natural contours of the Indonesian archipelago with the ocean, mountains and hills can hamper collection this information. Therefore, we need a data collection system that can handle the problem without the influence of geographical constraints. A radio communication system is proposed to meet the availability of information on climate data and other sensor data from the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), especially for areas not covered by cellular network services so that the availability of sensor data can increase. This communication system use the 433 MHz frequency spectrum which is become a Low Power Wide Area (LPWA) field. © 2023 IEEE.
