Diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease with associated complications. Traditional methods of measuring blood glucose levels are painful, inconvenient, and can pose a risk of infection. Therefore, there is a need for a continuous and non-invasive blood glucose monitoring device that can accurately track changes in blood glucose levels. This paper reviews existing modern devices and ongoing research for non-invasive and continuous blood glucose measurement methods. Essential methods reviewed include photoacoustic, NIR, and other spectroscopy-based measurement. Developing non-invasive blood glucose monitoring devices remains a potential avenue for research, although crucial challenges, namely accuracy, affordability, and continuous measurement ability, still need to be addressed. © 2023 IEEE.

The application of renewable energy in the form of photovoltaics is a challenge to provide electrical energy for people lives in remote areas which in turn will improve their life quality. The proposed modified Cuk converter-based two-stage microinverter topology design that able to directly convert low voltage DC voltage output of single PV panel, DC-DC converter is put as the first stage, while modified Cuk converter works to convert into 220 Vac 50 Hz in the second stage. To anticipate the disturbance due to change of solar irradiance, this paper also proposes closed-loop system to keep the constant 220 Vac 50 Hz output. It can be shown that the proposed topology and control method is successfully generate constant output voltage from single PV panel input under irradiance disturbance conditions. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper presents an innovative approach to detect and estimate the pose of pallets in a warehouse environment using a combination of ArUco fiducial markers and a laser rangefinder sensor. ArUco markers are unique patterns placed on pallets to assist the detection process. Computer vision algorithms process the camera's information to estimate the pallet's position and orientation. Adding the laser rangefinder sensor enhances the accuracy of the distance estimation. Experiments and evaluations were conducted to examine the accuracy and reliability of the proposed system, showing highly accurate and reliable results. The study showed that the combined approach outperformed using ArUco or laser rangefinder separately. The distance measurement had an error rate below 1 percent and 0.82cm for the standard deviation. The orientation measurement had an average error of 1.21 degrees. Consequently, the combination method offers excellent accuracy and precision for distance and orientation measurements. The proposed method could be a solution for implementing an autonomous forklift to increase efficiency and productivity while reducing human error in the warehouse system. © 2023 IEEE.

Electric bicycle utilizes an electric motor, such as a brushless DC (BLDC) motor as the main propulsion system. The design criteria for an electric bicycle with a BLDC motor for electric bicycle are determined by the type of bicycle, the track the rider will take, the regulation speed with a maximum speed of 25 km/hour, and the rider's physique. The challenge in designing an electric motor, especially on an e-bike is geometry limitation which often limited by the maximum frame and tire size. This research is focused on efficiency improvement in BLDC motors for electric bicycles. Efficiency depends on losses, including iron and copper losses. Reduction of the losses generated by the motor leads to better efficiency. In this research, reference BLDC motor is BLDC hub motor in the market with rated power of 350 Watts (W) and 36 slot-40 pole configurations. A reverse-engineering process is carried out to obtain a more optimal design. The analysis is carried out by varying the winding motor parameters such as conductor diameter and the number of strands. In addition, slot and pole variations are also investigated due to relation with the iron loss of the motor. The efficiency more than 80% was achieved with wider diameter and more strand conductor. The 18-20 slot-pole combination were found to be the most suitable for the given performance. With further winding modification, efficiency is increased from 80,98% (reference model) to 84,8 % (proposed model) at 221 rpm and decrease power input from 338 W to 328 W. © 2023 IEEE.

The current control system is a necessary system to be able to utilize renewable energy, where the current controller compares the current connected to the power grid with the reference current. A power conversion system is needed to connect the energy storage system to the grid. The power conversion that matches this system is by using an inverter. Inverters with current controllers are needed to regulate the current entering the grid because the power from the inverter is injected into the power grid and the voltage can be obtained from the grid, so what can be controlled is the current that goes into the grid. Inverters can be controlled with conventional PI current controllers and multiresonant PI current control. Multiresonant PI control can be designed using the Naslin Polynomial method by determining the open loop and closed loop of the transfer function, so that the Kp and Ki values are obtained according to the required system. Conventional PI current control method and multiresonant PI are successful in controlling the inverter output. In this study, it was found that multiresonant PI current control and conventional PI can stabilize the system quickly in the event of load changes. Multiresonant PI and conventional PI have no steady state error, but conventional PI has steady state error when starting the system. The multiresonant PI current controller has a lower current ripple effect than the conventional PI controller. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper presents a machine learning based approach for optimizing handover in 5G networks. By using the capabilities of neural networks, the proposed method enables proactive decision-making for target cell selection in handover process. Through analysis of key neural networks parameters, such as hidden nodes and epoch number, the neural network model predicts the target cell for handover. The simulations demonstrated the download success rate for each handover (HO). The results validate the advantages of using neural networks for handover optimization in 5G networks, providing seamless connectivity and improved user experience. © 2023 IEEE.

Birds have a very large number of species that show remarkable diversity, but this diversity is threatened due to human activities and natural phenomena. Identifying bird species that still exist in an ecosystem is an initial action that can be taken to protect this bird diversity. In this study, a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) model was built to automate the process of identifying bird species in bird song data. In the experiments conducted, 24 CNN models were built, which had differences in architectures, feature extraction techniques, and types of input data. There are three architectures used: AlexNet, DenseNet, and VGG. There are four feature extraction techniques used: mel-spectrogram, harmonic component-based mel-spectrogram, percussive component-based mel-spectrogram, and MFCC. As for the types of data used, there are two: data that has been cleaned (clean data) and data that has not been cleaned (raw data). Based on the experiment's results, the CNN model with the best performance is obtained with the DenseNet architecture, feature extraction with percussive component-based mel-spectrogram, and clean data as model input. This evaluation process is carried out using two types of testing methods: testing using chunk data and testing with complete data. The accuracy of the best model reaches 85.67% for testing with chunk data (method 1) and 90.42% for testing with complete data (method 2). © 2023 IEEE.

This paper examines the impact of gamification on Quran reading learning through an analysis of the QuranLab mobile application. The application was developed using a waterfall model, and gamification was implemented through the Octalysis framework. The effectiveness of the app was evaluated using the HMSAM model, which employs a Likert scale. The findings of the study revealed that gamification resulted in 80,17% of participants expressing their intention to continue using the application in the future and 84,83 % strongly agreed that the app provided an enjoyable user experience. These compelling findings provide evidence for the positive influence of gamification on Quran reading learning and offer valuable insights for the development of effective mobile applications for religious education. © 2023 IEEE.

Lightning strikes pose a significant threat, as they have the potential to cause severe damage to both structures and oil tank farms, often resulting in catastrophic explosions. In response to this danger, the oil and gas industry in Indonesia has taken proactive steps by implementing the NFPA 780 Standard, which outlines guidelines for lightning protection systems. Despite these efforts, the problem persists, with tanks continuing to explode and refineries suffering shutdowns due to lightning strikes, both direct and indirect, occurring on an annual basis. This persistent issue underscores the need for a comprehensive evaluation of the self-protecting criteria specified in the NFPA 780 standard, especially concerning their suitability in tropical climates like Indonesia's. Some specific cases related to tank explosions in Indonesia will be closely examined. By studying these incidents, it becomes apparent that simply adhering to the NFPA 780 standard may not be sufficient to safeguard critical infrastructure in Indonesia effectively. Consequently, it will be demonstrated that Indonesia should consider adopting additional protective measures and strategies that go beyond the minimum requirements outlined in the standard. Such measures may include tailor-made lightning protection solutions designed to withstand the unique lightning risks posed in tropical climates, ensuring the safety and integrity of oil and gas facilities in the region. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper presents a system for identifying prohibited objects in x-ray baggage using a similarity approach. We evaluated several types of Siamese networks to determine the most suitable type for the system. The research was conducted using image sizes of 75x75x3, batch size 32, and with several deep learning backbones such as ResNet50, ResNet101, EfficientNetB7, and InceptionV3. We also evaluated several schemes of the support set. The research showed that the Siamese Neural Network (SNN) yielded the best performance, achieving an accuracy score of 88%, while conventional deep learning models only achieves an accuracy score of 74%. The system was also tested by zooming out the object categories into two: prohibited and not prohibited. With this scenario, the system achieves a higher accuracy of 91%. This work shows that our SNN model can identify new objects it has never seen in the training data, eliminating the need to retrain the model. © 2023 IEEE.
