Renewable energy sources, such as solar and wind energy, present a practical option for fulfilling the electricity generation needs, particularly in areas without electricity access, like Matakus Island. This island has significant potential for utilizing renewable energy, particularly solar and wind energy, due to its coastal location. With an average Global Horizontal Irradiation (GHI) of 6.03 kWh/m2/day and an average wind speed of 6.3 m/s, Matakus Island is well-suited for utilizing these resources. To assess the stability of the proposed Hybrid Power Plant system, modeling is conducted using MATLAB/Simulink. These software tools allow for the evaluation and simulation of the system's performance under various conditions, ensuring its stability and reliability. The economic analysis of the hybrid power plant is carried out using HOMER Pro, which aids in determining the overall cost-effectiveness of the system. It optimizes the configuration by considering components such as PV panels, wind turbines, batteries, and diesel generators, to find the most economically efficient setup for the hybrid power plant. The electrical system, consisting of an 18.7 kW PV system, a 3kW wind turbine, and a 54 kWh battery, has a Cost of Energy (COE) of Rp. 7,467/kWh, achieves a 100% Renewable Fraction (RF), and results in total annual savings of Rp. 38.1 million. In contrast, relying solely on pure diesel generators leads to a higher COE of Rp. 10,990/kWh, a 0% RF, and generates CO2 emissions of 16, 75Skg/year. The COE using the PV-Wind-battery hybrid system is 32% cheaper than using a diesel generator, demonstrating the significant cost advantage of the hybrid system. By implementing a hybrid power plant that combines solar and wind energy with battery storage, Matakus Island can achieve stable and cost-effective electricity generation.
