We present a diffusion probabilistic model (DPM) capable of generating high-quality electroencephalography (EEG) signals. In particular, we investigate the fidelity of synthesized visually evoked potentials and the performance of the novel class-conditioned continuous-time DPM that generates the signals. We carefully select our neural network architecture to prevent generated frequency artifacts in the multi-channel synthesized EEG signals. With progressive distillation, we are able to achieve a single-step diffusion model that still has a competitive performance. With generative metrics and statistical analysis, we show that using DPMs for brain signal generation is feasible. © 2023 IEEE.

The current work assesses the short-term and long-term electrochemical corrosion (ECC) behavior of SAC305 and SAC0307-Bi-xMn in 3.5 wt.% NaCl solution. The short-term assessment was implemented by linear sweep voltammetry (LSV) which showed no significant difference in corrosion current density values among the investigated alloys. However, the long-term assessment represented by cyclic series of open circuit potential (OCP) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) illustrated that SAC0307-Bi-xMn exhibited superior long-term ECC performance, notably delaying the onset of localized corrosion initiation. It is believed that the combination effect of reducing Ag content in SAC alloys and doping with Bi and Mn enhance the corrosion resistance of the native oxide film on the SAC solder surface. Such findings illustrate the importance of the surface native (pre-existed) oxide film in postponing the commencement of local corrosion of SAC alloys in NaCl solution. © 2023 IEEE.

The Lightning Protection System (LPS) plays an important role in protecting oil and gas tanks from the destructive effects of lightning strikes. Oil and gas tanks are vulnerable to lightning strikes due to their large surface area and flammable contents. The examination of safety systems in gas and oil tanks is frequently restricted to a two-dimensional method, which may not be effective enough to safeguard the entire tank. Consequently, the goal of this study is to conduct a three-dimensional analysis of the protective system to offer a more thorough understanding of the potential advantages and benefits of this methodology. Through the Decision matrix, the EMT and FSM design is chosen as the best lightning protection system, proven through simulation to reduce the number of air terminal installations by about 50%-58% compared to the conventional system. The author has simulated a 3-dimensional protection system that has fewer EMT and FSM installations than the 2-dimensional simulation, using 77 air terminals to protect an area of 207,783.12m2 in the Plaju area. © 2024 IEEE.

To observe the effect of a culture-based design approach in developing a web-based application for Indonesian citizens, as well as attempt to increase the efficiency and satisfaction of its usage, the World Education website was localized according to a culture-based process model. The website was localized in two iterations, during which six primary features were designed and implemented. Cultural considerations during the development process include local user observation, local site audit, and a cultural analysis based on Hofstede's model. The localized website was tested against the original website during the final iteration, in which an increase in usability and user experience goal scores, as well as the overall satisfaction of the website's interface was observed. © 2023 IEEE.

Twisted wires made of insulated strands, known as stranded conductors or litz wires, are used in various areas where the eddy current loss within the wire needs to be reduced. These areas include induction heating, resonance-based wireless energy transfer, and certain radio frequency devices. Some litz wires consist of thousands of individual conductor strands that are twisted together in multiple stages, creating a hierarchical bundle structure. Computer simulations (typically using finite element analysis) are used in the optimal design of the bundle structure. However, detailed three-dimensional models are computationally demanding. In this work, a two-dimensional finite element model was presented for simulating the eddy current loss in cables made of twisted wires. The key element of the model is considering the bundle structure (generally referred to as 3D configuration conditions) within the cross-sectional model domain. The accuracy of the proposed model is tested against 3D finite element simulations. The new method is shown to be accurate, and its computational cost is by orders of magnitude lower than that of 3D models. © 2024 Budapest University of technology and Economics. This paper discusses novel method to significantly reduce electric field stress on gas insulated switchgear (GIS) spacer mainly at its triple junction area. Spacer is secondary insulation used in GIS, with it primary insulation being gas. Spacer is used to hold conductor inside GIS so that it doesn't move and remain stationary during its operational. Spacer has been well known as most vulnerable part of GIS Installation, and its vulnerability could be traced back at triple junction area. This area is where SF6 gas, Spacer, and Conductor meet, and due to its high electric field nature, is one of the causes of Spacer failure. To further increase its mechanical strength property, notches is added inside spacer to hold conductor bulge to fill said notches). This paper tests the effect of said notches on electric field distribution both inside and on the surface (mainly at its triple junction area). Size of notches is varied from 6mm to 24mm with 3mm increment. The result suggests that that the smaller the conductor notches, the intensity of electric field will increase. It is also observed that, the change of conductor notches size inside spacer will have effect on spacer surface. Increasing the size of conductor notches inside spacer could potentially reduced electric field intensity on triple junction area by more than 80% compared to original design with 3mm notches. © 2023 IEEE.

Until now, computational burden alleviation and stability issues for the three-phase four-leg converter has not yet been thoroughly investigated. However, compared to the conventional controllers, the implementation of predictive current control approach for 3-Ø, 4-L inverter suffers a large computational burden due to its additional fourth-leg. Motivated by this fact, this article provides an alternative predictive current control implementation for 3-Ø, 4-L inverter which offers reduced computational effort to achieve similar performance as the conventional FCS-MPC and ensures the global stability of the closed-loop system. To further understand the consequences of the developed control law, theoretical stability analysis has been carried out that links Lyapunov's direct method with the closed-loop system behavior. The outcome of the theoretical stability analysis demonstrates the global stability of the overall system which is later supported by the experimental results. With the proposed method, the number of possible voltage vectors required to obtain the optimal voltage vector in each sampling interval reduces from sixteen to five and thereby simplifies the prediction process. It is also derived that the Lyapunov function-based approach actually yields to the dead-beat control, which has not been previously highlighted in the previous papers. The current work also provides experimental results for different loading conditions (balanced and unbalanced) which further demonstrates the efficacy of the proposed method. © 2023 Budapest University of technology and Economics. Indoor air quality (IAQ) is an important yet often overlooked aspect of public health, with poor IAQ contributing to a significant number of diverse health problems worldwide. Existing air quality standards have failed to fully address the problem, however emerging technologies in the field of IoT have demonstrated promise in effectively addressing this issue. This concept paper advocates a hybrid hierarchy system for IAQ monitoring that incorporates both offline and online connectivity. The system utilizes sensing elements that can perform a wide range of functions, including autocalibration, pollution event detection, and more, autonomously from the network. By combining a gateway device, the system's capabilities are enhanced, providing increased data granularity, additional calibration and sensing options as well as connection with Building Management Systems (BMS). Furthermore, by connecting the gateway to the cloud, the system can perform more advanced data analysis and machine learning, providing users with insights into not only air quality but also general environmental quality. Key features of the envisioned system include the integration of subjective perception of pollution via crowdsourcing, a TinyML technology at the edge, digital twins, and an optimised redundancy of sensors that can alleviate poor accuracy and drift as well as capture the spatial dispersion of pollution. © 2023 IEEE.

In this paper, we introduce a detailed realization of industrial mobile robot navigation abilities among human workers. We extend the navigation layers with state of the art person detection and adapt them to influence trajectory planning. We present our edge-based architecture, how time-critical onboard components offloaded from the robot, and how person detection is integrated into navigation. The system also incorporates social awareness, allowing the robot to take into account the presence and actions of people in its environment and adjust its navigation in line with the requirements of industry 5.0. The realization is evaluated in a series of experiments where results show that it is able to effectively navigate in industrial environment with people present, maintain safe distance and avoid collision with people or other objects. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper presents an initial study of Wireless Power Transfer systems design for Industrial Mobile Robots. Prerequisite for all industrial applications is that it shall be able to perform constantly, whereas currently the Industrial Mobile Robots must stop at fixed location to charge batteries. The time that robots are unutilized therefore should be minimized, to which we propose possible solutions. The designs apply an additional, intermediate energy buffer that increases the maximum applicable current. The proposed systems are split in two categories based on location, the first is a fixed, stationary type and the second is a type of phased array system built-in the plant floor. © 2023 IEEE.
