The use of blockchain technologies and Smart contracts to improve the quality of Microgrid network management is considered. The necessity of using a special mathematical apparatus for system analysis is noted, taking into account the nonlinear nature of dynamic processes in the network and, in particular, the presence of sharply changes in the load. The advantages and disadvantages of the approach known in the literature are analyzed, when the search for the optimal power distribution among generators to ensure the minimum costs of the Microgrid is carried out on the basis of nonlinear programming methods. Graphs of transient processes in the network are given and their corresponding analysis is carried out. © 2023 IEEE.

Computer vision systems designed for posture recognition could offer valuable solutions in the healthcare sector, improving healthy ageing and supporting elderly individuals in their daily routines. One area of interest is the automatic detection of falls, which has garnered attention from computer vision and pattern recognition communities. While many existing methods rely on wearable sensors, which demonstrate high accuracy in fall detection, some individuals may be reluctant to wear such devices. Consequently, alternative approaches, such as vision-based techniques, have been developed. The proposed method utilizes a vision-based system that employs a convolutional neural network (CNN) to recognize and categorize various postures (e.g., sitting, lying, standing) in each frame, if available. This approach begins by detecting the person in the frame, applying background subtraction for human body shape extraction, and associating each daily activity with the extracted shape. The proposed model achieved an accuracy of 93.75%, which shows an outstanding performance over existing models. Subsequently, it estimates bounding boxes encompassing the predicted person's body shape. Overall, the proposed technique shows promising results for indoor monitoring systems. © 2024 IEEE.

The quality of a website is said to be good if the display has a combination of elements consisting of system design, content on the system, navigation, and functionality on the system so that the website layout is aligned and balanced. Therefore, an assessment is needed from the user side who wants to see if the website is good or still some bugs that can be fixed later. The method used in this research is a cognitive walkthrough, which involves users in assessing the usability of a website. This research aimed to identify and analyze problems that users face accessing the sampled website and also provide recommendations and suggestions for improving the user interface. The results show that the proportion the effectiveness and efficiency obtained by 64% and 66.31%. It is below the standard set by Jeff Sauro of 78%. Besides that, the majority of participants failed in the fourth task scenario (ST4: finding address and contact us information) and found errors in the second task scenario (ST2: searching for company profile information) and the third scenario (ST3: finding product information). It was found that the proportion of error rates in the ST2 and ST4 are 40% and 100%. Moreover, the ST1 and ST3 task scenarios have error rates below average, by 0% and 13.33% respectively. © 2023 IEEE.

Cassandra can store spatial data natively, however, it still provides limited number of spatial operations and lacks the features for data retrieval querying when compared to SQL databases. In this paper, a system was developed to perform spatial data retrieval using SQL queries by utilizing the PostGIS extension. The system developed complements the spatial operations provided by Cassandra and enables data retrieval by using SQL queries. The system works by transforming an input SQL query into one or more CQL queries to retrieve data from Cassandra. Afterwards, the data is used to fill in the table declaration of the input SQL query. To utilize Cassandra's advantages in storing data per column inside a block of memory, the CQL query being constructed will involve only the necessary columns that are needed from a table. To optimize the system's performance in retrieving large amount of data, it identifies and translates the predicates that can be executed on Cassandra. The system also uses the streaming method and stores data temporarily in PostgreSQL for the excess data. To test its performance, the system will be given input queries with various spatial functions, subquery expressions, and the number of tables involved. The execution time for each query will then be measured for further analysis. Based on the evaluation results, it is concluded that the SQL interface has successfully able to retrieve spatial data records stored in Cassandra. © 2022 IEEE.

Balinese script is an integral part of Balinese cultural heritage, traditionally inscribed on palm leaves. The preservation of this ancient script faces challenges due to technological advancements and changing cultural dynamics. This paper presents a CNN-based image processing approach for recognizing Balinese characters on palm leaves. The proposed method employs Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) to identify and classify Balinese script from digitized lontar manuscripts. By applying techniques such as RealESRGAN for image resolution enhancement, Otsu thresholding for optimal segmentation, and morphological operations for image refinement, we have improved the recognition accuracy of Balinese characters. Our experimental results, using models like ResNet50, MobileNetV2, and DenseNet169, VGG16 and InceptionResNetV2 demonstrate significant stability in character recognition, with MobileNetV2 achieving an accuracy of $99.73 \%$. This study advances the accessibility and preservation of Balinese script, ensuring that this cultural heritage continues to be recognized and appreciated by future generations.

Advances in information technology and computer science have brought significant changes to various sectors of human life. In education, computers have helped ease a variety of human tasks, especially for large-scale and repetitive tasks such as essay grading. Current's computer capabilities make it possible to do essay scoring automatically. Research related to automatic essay scoring continues to develop by trying certain techniques and methods to improve the accuracy of automatic scoring close to that of human scoring. This systematic review aims to explore the 21st century applications of automated essay grading used in education. We carried out a bibliometric analysis of the meta data obtained from the SCOPUS database using the Bibliometrix and VOSviewer software reporting the main themes of implementing automated essay scoring applications in educational studies, providing an overview of the current state of the art and future directions of research and applications. Based on bibliometric analysis, we found that research related to automatic essay assessment in education has a fluctuating development trend and the current direction of AES research has used deep learning techniques such as long short-term memory, transfer learning and bert to build a better AES. © 2022 IEEE.

Filter Bank Multi Carrier with Offset Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (FBMC/OQAM) exhibits lower Out-of-Band (OOB) radiation compared to Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) due to the use of a prototype filter as a pulse shaping filter. However, similar to OFDM systems, the Peak Average-to-Power Ratio (PAPR) in FBMC/OQAM is also high. In Nonlinear High Power Amplifier (HPA), signals with high PAPR can lead to increased OOB radiation in the HPA output signal and a decrease in Bit Error Ratio (BER) performance at the receiver. The Discrete Fourier Transform - Spreading (DFT-Spread) technique is a widely applied PAPR reduction technique in multicarrier modulation systems. In this paper, we analyze the performance of the DFT-Spread technique for mitigating the nonlinear HPA effects in the FBMC/OQAM system. The applied DFT-Spread technique involves adding DFT and Subcarrier mapping processes at the transmitter side, and Subcarrier de-mapping and IDFT processes at the receiver side. In PAPR testing, the DFT-Spread technique can reduce PAPR by 1.4 dB to 2 dB. In BER performance testing with the addition of nonlinear HPA effects (IBO=20 dB), the DFT-Spread technique can improve BER performance by 1.6 dB. © 2023 IEEE.

E-learning can lead learners to achieve learning outcomes if it is designed based on several principles. One is applying assessments that motivate and inform ability levels. In Outcome-based Education (OBE), assessment is integral to the system. However, e-learning has limitations in providing assessment instruments according to needs, such as assessing complex and detailed aspects and accommodating a variety of numerical and linguistic assessment data. Moreover, the presence and involvement of learners affect their performance and learning outcomes. This study proposes a learner assessment system in e-learning with the OBE approach, including learning design, activity performance analysis, ability level determination, and recommendations. This system adds the e-rubric to e-learning to overcome instrument limitations and accommodate comprehensive assessments. Various numerical and linguistic assessment data are unified using 2-tuple fuzzy linguistics, producing ability levels as two tuples. Performance analysis was based on event log data using descriptive statistical technique and alignment-based conformance checking, from frequency, time, and sequence of activity objects, resulting in five activity performance variables. The performance value of each variable is converted into High, Medium, or Low levels. The ability and performance levels are processed using rule-based methods to produce recommendations for learning stages and activity performance directions. The results of this research can be used as input for academic stakeholders and online learning providers and potentially be applied to the advancement of e-learning in higher education. © Authors retain all copyrights.

In ultra wideband (UWB) based localization and ranging systems, the main error source of ranging is the multi path effect on the timestamping process. However, in the literature it is widely assumed that the receive timestamp has some Gaussian distribution. The paper uses simulations featuring the recommended channel model of the IEEE 802.15.4a standard to investigate the distribution of the receive timestamps in dense office indoor environments. It is shown here that the distribution of receive timestamps is dissimilar to the Gaussian distribution, and the paper proposes a distribution applicable for probability inference methods. © 2022 IEEE.

The developments in HVDC transmission are expected to extend to MV level in the future, where MVAC cables can be used for MVDC. In this regard, the DC conductivity is an important parameter for evaluating DC cable insulation and it is determined through DC leakage current measurements. This study evaluates the impact of accessories on the DC leakage current of MVDC XLPE cable systems. Therefore, one cable system with and one without a joint was set up to examine the influence of a joint and terminations on the leakage current. The investigation is significant due to the potential presence of accessories in future MVDC cable systems. Furthermore, this study presents leakage current measurement as a diagnostic tool that may allow for quick and efficient detection of cable degradation during operation. © 2024 The Korean Institute of Electrical Engineers (KIEE).
