Autonomous Underwater Gliders (AUGs) are extensively developed vehicles capable of prolonged exploration and observation in complex marine environments. Control of the AUG is challenging due to its slow response system and its constraints. In this research, a linear model representation of AutoRegressive eXogenous input (ARX) will be constructed using input and output data from the AUG system, built Model Predictive Control (MPC), analyzed the performance, comparing with traditional Proportional-Integral-Derivative (PID). The objective is to enhance setpoint tracking accuracy and minimize energy to extend exploration time while faced with constraints. Simulation results reveal MPC exhibits potential setpoint tracking, low overshoot as low as 0.6% up to 0.3m/s maximum depth rate, has relatively low input changes indicating good efficiency compared to PID. MPC approach effectively addresses slow response systems, managing momentum, and handling actuator constraints commonly encountered in AUG. © 2023 IEEE.

With the development of transportation technology, online transportation is one of the choices of public transportation which is currently growing rapidly. Passengers can book transportation services through the app. The application will appoint a driver to fulfill the order. It takes a system that can prioritize service to loyal customers, to get priority to be served first. This is important in retaining loyal customers. In this research, the Recency Frequency Monetary (RFM) method was used to classify loyal customers. Based on this classification, drivers are appointed to fulfill orders from passengers (order matching). The method used to pair drivers and passengers is the Hungarian method. The simulation of this system will be tested using the Google Maps API. Based on the tests carried out, the results obtained that the system made was able to prioritize the fulfillment of orders from passengers based on its Recency Frequency Monetary value. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd 2023.

Sophisticated cyber threats are seen on Online Social Networks (OSNs) social media accounts automated to imitate human behaviours has an impactful effect on distorting public thoughts and opinions. OSNs are weaponized to diffuse deception, misinformation, and malicious activities, that forms a serious threat to society. The deceptive nature of imitating human behaviour has become a challenging and crucial task to detect automated accounts (socialbots). This research, however, proposes a hybrid metaheuristic optimisation algorithm for socialbot detection. Specifically, a hybrid B-Hill Climbing (B-HC) optimisation algorithm works in tandem with a k-NN nearest neighbour classifier to accurately select a relevant feature subset. It is applied to be tested for fake followers account on Twitter data. Experimental results showed that the proposed method is better than the traditional and the latest feature selection techniques as well as the rule-set methods. The B-HC alongside with k-NN method achieved promising results using only relevant feature subset. © 2023 IEEE.

Financial services institutions are one of the prime targets of information security breaches because of the potential of the attackers to reap financial rewards from launching the attacks. Information security culture which is a collection of socio-cultural processes implemented by firms, is forecast to forestall the scourge of information security breaches. Information security culture targets to safeguard the information assets of firms through influencing employees to conduct themselves in a manner that is compatible with the protection of firms' assets. Information security awareness, subjective norms and shared tacit assumptions are proposed as some of the main determinants of information security culture in the financial services. Therefore, this paper investigates the impact that information security awareness, subjective norms and shared tacit assumptions exert on financial services firms' information security culture. This paper is a quantitative case study of four financial services firms in Zimbabwe. The results of this study show that information security awareness and subjective norms are predictors of information security culture in the financial services. Conversely, the study established that shared tacit assumptions are not related to information security culture in the financial services. © 2023 IEEE.

The influence of incorporating iron nanoparticles through flux doping (0-2wt.%) in lead-free SAC305 (Sn3.5Ag0.5Cu) solder joints of chip-sized surface-mounted (SMD) components on electromigration has been investigated. To ensure high current densities throughout the experiment, track-To-pad joining angles of 135° on the anode site and 90° on the cathode site were implemented. The temperature was kept relatively low to minimize material transport attributable to thermal effects. Microstructural changes were examined through cross-sectional analysis, and push-off shear tests were performed to assess the influence of current loading on mechanical reliability. After 2000 and 4000 h of loading the samples with 4 A, joints with 0402 resistors showed copper dissolution from the tracks at the cathode sites in samples prepared with undoped flux. However, among the NP doped samples, the joints produced with 0.5 wt.% Fe-NPs showed no copper dissolution. Shear performance of joints with 0402 components deteriorated in all cases after 4000 hours of current loading. © 2024 IEEE.

The optimization of power consumption of manufacturing lines (ML) is a relevant topic in the context of increasing electricity prices. This paper presents the topic of optimizing the energy consumption of a production system, through optimization technique based on the multi-objective PSO (Particle Swarm Optimization) algorithm. The novelty of the approach lies in the development of an Advanced PSO algorithm (APSO), which brings superior results in optimizing energy consumption. The research was carried out in successive stages, starting with data collection, and ending with the implementation of the results on the production line, everything being subordinated to the criterion of optimizing energy consumption. APSO's advanced optimization technique was implemented on a flexible manufacturing line (FML) composed of five linearly interconnected workstations. The APSO optimization algorithm, following implementation and testing on FML, provides a solution for controlling the conveyor speeds of each station that guarantees in the overall approach to the process a minimum energy consumption, but also a minimum execution time of the algorithm. © 2024, Politechnica University of Bucharest. Blockchains provides a decentralized, distributed and immutable ledger which is verifiable and digitally available over a network, bringing in a technological revolution in this fast-forwarding digital world which helps in building smart supplychains, eGovernance, eHospital, etc. Nevertheless, blockchains are bound by divergent issues such as scalability, security and privacy. Privacy issues are of great concern these days, when every Nation is fighting against various potential privacy hackers and safe guarding the data from various types of heists. Despite numerous endeavors to concoct and merge new privacy techniques, present day blockchain methods are quite farfetched to survive the privacy issues. This situation undermines rights of the user, similar as the option to become anonymous in specific cases, the option to edit or delete data, thus decreasing the consummation of a rightful privacy preserving system on the framework of blockchain. Retaliatory action to overcome multitudes of crime causing havoc to the blockchain privacy and to work on the existing privacy mechanisms is the main focus for blockchain developers and users. The Zero Knowledge Proof (ZKP) is a method of cryptography which has the prospects to change how data is processed. It provisions to prove the users’ validity without sharing any other private information, thereby opening possibilities in preserving the privacy of blockchain applications. Further we discuss a use-case which is studied and evaluated with ZKP model to facilitate user verification without gathering any other private information. Artificial intelligence (AI) and image recognition technologies are developing rapidly, creating new opportunities for process improvement in industry, especially in spare parts classification. Spare parts classification using images has not been thoroughly researched and utilized in the car repair industry, especially in Malaysia. This project seeks to create a reliable and effective system that uses AI to identify and classify spare parts from user-uploaded images precisely. The main goals are to simplify inventory management and improve the precision and speed of part identification in diverse industrial environments. In the end, an accuracy of 98.70% was achieved for spare part type classification and 89.70% for both type and car brand classification with the use of transfer learning, finetuning, and object detection techniques. © 2024 IEEE.

Elliptical gear transmissions although not as widely used as cylindrical ones, offer the advantage of varying the rotation speed within the same turn without the need of complicated mechanisms or driving motors. In the meantime, the elliptical gears present some particularities regarding the teeth geometry that will influence the stress/strain distribution. Since the teeth for an elliptical gear are not identical, a comprehensive analysis of the stress/strain distribution is more complex because it implies analysis for different positions of the gears. Keeping this in mind, the authors present in the paper analytical (for the contact pressure – Hertz formula), 2D and 3D static and transient finite element analysis (FEA) for an elliptical gear transmission with fixed distance between shafts and straight teeth. To fully describe the materials involved in the analysis, a device for measuring the static friction coefficient has been developed by the authors. Analytical results were compared with FEA ones. The results obtained by the authors were compared with the one obtained by other researchers. Conclusions and discussions regarding the stress distribution are presented. © 2022, Politechnica University of Bucharest. All rights reserved.

Big-Data integration and sharing is a key aspect of the manufacturing industry, as it enables real-time monitoring and control of production processes. However, integrating and sharing Big-Data also raises concerns about performance, privacy, and security. This study presents a hybrid architecture for integrating and sharing Big-Data in the manufacturing industry, with a focus on addressing performance, privacy, and security concerns. The proposed architecture combines Apache Spark, IPFS, and Blockchain technology, and is based on a sharding approach that encrypts and distributes data to enable faster and more efficient data transfer. The Blockchain network is used to provide a secure and tamper-proof record of the data transfer, ensuring that the data is only accessible to authorized parties and that any changes are visible to all parties on the network. While the proposed architecture includes a verification method to meet quality requirements, only the uploading and downloading processes were validated through specification. © 2023 IEEE.
