Nowadays there is a more and more common need for one-off data collection in a specified area. For example, in case of searching for the survivors of disasters or wars, or for skiers who get into trouble. The simplest way of collecting such data is using wireless sensor network (WSN). However, data transmission within the network uses great amount of energy that may significantly reduce the lifetime and operation time of the battery-operated sensors. For this reason, the data transfer between the given sensor nodes is carried out by robots. In order to minimize the latency of data collection, it is possible to use cooperating robots. It frequently occurs that one of the nodes requires more urgent visit than the other ones, for example, the serious injuries require urgent medical attendance. The sensor nodes can also be moved to collect more usable data in a larger field. To solve this, path planning for data collection from priority and moving nodes are also presented here. The algorithm developed here to perform the one-off data collection operates so that the agents start from preliminary determined or random points and then visit all the sensor nodes, download the data from these nodes and after this arrive at a designated point where they upload the collected information. The goal here is the minimization of cost that include not only the walk-through time but also the consequences of the late visit of the higher priority nodes. With the development of remote sensing technology and computing science,remote sensing data present typical big data *** rapid development of remote sensing big data has brought a large number of data processing tasks,which bring huge challenges to *** computing is the primary means to process remote sensing big data,and task scheduling plays a key role in this *** study analyzes the characteristics of batch processing of remote sensing big *** paper uses the Hungarian algorithm as a basis for proposing a novel strategy for task assignment optimization of remote sensing big data batch workflow,called optimal sequence dynamic assignment algorithm,which is applicable to hetero-geneously distributed computing *** strategy has two core contents:the improved Hungarian algorithm model and the multi-level optimal assignment task queue ***,the strategy solves the dependency,mismatch,and computational resource idleness problems in the optimal scheduling of remote sensing batch processing *** proposed strategy likewise effectively improves data processing efficiency without increasing computer hardware resources and without optimizing the computational *** experimented with the aerosol optical depth retrieval algorithm workflow using this *** with the processing before optimization,the makespan of the proposed method was shortened by at least 20％.Compared with popular scheduling algorithm,the proposed method has evident competitiveness in acceleration effect and large-scale task scheduling.

In vapour phase soldering, the equipment and process control are usually based on temperature. Heat sensors are placed at different heights in the vapour area and the equipment makes decisions based on their values. The disadvantage of this method is that due to the physical parameters of the heat sensors, they may give different results in the same process. Due to the saturation nature of the temperature characteristics, idle times occur during the operation of the equipment. The aim of this research was to characterize the hydrostatic pressure conditions in the saturated vapour space to improve process control. A solution to the problems of pressure measurement was found, and the pressure response of an industrial vapour phase equipment was investigated. By comparing the results obtained with the temperature results, it was possible to establish the aforementioned idle time. The paper focuses on the development of the measurement device too, which serves as an IoT-enabled node for data logging. © 2023 IEEE.

The ongoing research employs both the neutrosophic set and the Decision Making and Evaluation Method (DEMATEL) to analyze and determine the factors influencing supplier selection within the realm of Supply Chain Management (SCM). Recognized as a proactive strategy for enhancing performance and securing competitive advantages, DEMATEL guides this investigation. The study utilizes neutrosophic set Theory to refine overall assessments, introducing a novel scale to distinctly represent each value. Through a practical case study focusing on selecting the optimal supplier for a distribution company, the proposed methodology's application is illustrated. The research framework integrates a neutrosophic DEMATEL approach for data collection, incorporating surveys among experts and interviews with professionals in management, procurement, and production. In addressing application-oriented challenges characterized by multiple criteria marked by ambiguity and varying degrees of accuracy, Smarandache introduced Treesoft sets an extension of hypersoft sets to effectively navigate through ambiguous and imprecise options. © (2023), (University of New Mexico). Exploring the potential of fish waste (Sardinella fimbriata) through pyrolysis: A study of kinetics and thermodynamics using isoconversional methods

The growing global demand for fish has led to an increase in fish waste (FW) production, necessitating efficient waste management strategies. Pyrolysis is a promising way to convert fish waste into high-value products. To achieve optimal waste mass reduction and gain insights into the pyrolysis process, estimating kinetic parameters is essential. This study investigated the pyrolysis of FW, Sardinella fimbriata, a previously unexplored waste source, using a thermogravimetric analyser. The study determined an average activation energy value of 84–124 kJ/mol using model-free isoconversional methods including Flynn-Wall–Ozawa, Kissinger–Akahira–Sunose, and Starink, whereas pre-exponential factor values were predicted to be between 102 and 1011 s−1. Further analysis using Criado's reduced master-plot approach showed that the experimental curves for pyrolysis coincided with many different theoretical plots for reaction mechanisms, with a concentration on reaction-order models. The analysis of thermodynamic parameters showed positive values of enthalpy change and Gibbs energy change for S. fimbriata FW pyrolysis, suggesting that the process is endothermic and non-spontaneous, while negative values of entropy change were observed across all conversion degrees as a result of the breakdown of complex organic molecules into simpler compounds. This study provides insights into the feasibility of thermal processes and offers new guidance for FW waste management and resource recovery, expanding the understanding of pyrolysis kinetics and thermodynamics for fish waste treatment. © 2023

Multiple breakthroughs have emerged across various applications due to deep learning. These advancements can also be adapted for Bridge Weigh-In-Motion (BWIM) systems. A deep learning-based algorithm has been developed previously by the authors, which can be integrated into these systems. That algorithm shows promising results when compared to so-called static methods. One of the main contributions of our developments is handling the error of the preprocessing steps more efficiently. A developed axle load estimator is presented in this paper that builds on our previous solution, and which was tested in operation on a cable-stayed bridge. The algorithm handles multi-lane scenarios more efficiently when compared to our previous solution. The comparison of this novel algorithm and Moses’ algorithm is also presented in this paper. Our solution achieves lower error rates both on a synthetic dataset, and a real measurement-based annotated dataset. © 2024 The Author(s).

Emotion recognition in text has become an essential research area within artificial intelligence and natural language processing due to its applications in sentiment analysis, human-computer interaction, and social media analysis. This paper introduces an approach for emotion recognition in social networks using transformer models enhanced with explainability techniques. By leveraging the advanced capabilities of transformers to analyze and classify emotions in written content, our finetuned models achieves high accuracy in identifying emotions according to the Ekman emotional model. The integration of LIME and SHAP provides transparency and interpretability to our model, making it more trustworthy for practical applications. Our findings indicate that models like XLNET report an exceptional performance in emotion recognition tasks. The explainability techniques illustrate the transformer model decision-making processes and the way that they utilize words and their continual information in sentences. © 2024 IEEE.

General anesthesia is an essential component of any surgical procedure, requiring careful monitoring and precise control. Administering the correct dosage is crucial to ensure the patient remains adequately anesthetized. The pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic (PK/PD) model that clarifies the interactions between the administered drug and patient’s response was used. In this paper, we introduce an optimized PID controller to automate the control of general anesthesia and adjust the infusion rate of the drug using the bispectral index (BIS) as the process variable. We tuned one PID controller for each individual patient and tested it on a group of 8 virtual patients. The controller utilizes the Coati Optimization Algorithm (COA) to optimize the PID controller parameters. Simulation period was 250 s and results were obtained using MATLAB software. The results demonstrate the effectiveness and robustness of the controller in accurately assessing and regulating the Depth of Hypnosis (DOH). © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.

As a high-level programming language, Python supports user-friendly coding and system integration. It is not only used for data analytics but is also applied in software development. Although it has several benefits, users have various issues while running Python code. When programmers face issues, they often use Stack Overflow (SO) to get assistance for their problems. However, many Pythonrelated questions on SO are not responded to and remain unanswered. Thus, in this paper, we analyzed these unanswered questions to identify potential weaknesses of user and discussion characteristics. We applied a mixed-methods approach, including quantitative and qualitative analysis of user reputation, question types, and discussion topics. Our analysis shows that unanswered questions are mostly from low-reputation users (72.52%), followed by mid-reputation users (17.93%), and high-reputation users (9.5 5%). The distribution of the unanswered question types shows that low-reputation users ask more 'how' type of question (38.90%) followed by mid and high-reputation users. In contrast, the 'what' and 'why' questions are mostly posted by high-reputation users, followed by mid and low-reputation users. Our word-cloud analysis suggests a correlation between user reputation and the question topics. We acknowledge that there are limitations in our study, include potential misclassifications due to the time of posting and biases in manual labeling, which may affect the accuracy of our findings. This study provides insights into unanswered questions posted by the community, open up potential areas for future work such as improving support mechanisms and community engagement. © 2024 IEEE.

Automation of interaction—interaction design at the crossroads of user experience (UX) and artificial intelligence (AI)

Interaction design/HCI seems to be at a crossroads. On the one hand, it is still about designing for engaging user experiences (UX). Still, on the other hand, it seems to be increasingly about reducing interaction and automating human–machine interaction through the use of AI and other new technologies. In this paper, we explore this seemingly unavoidable gap. First, we discuss the fundamental design rationality underpinning interaction and automation of interaction from the viewpoints of classic theoretical standpoints. We then illustrate how these two come together in interaction design practice. Here we examine four examples from already published research on automation of interaction, including how different levels of automation of interaction affect or enable new practices, including coffee making, self-tracking, automated driving, and conversations with AI-based chatbots. Through an interaction analysis of these four examples, we show (1) how interaction and automation are combined in the design, (2) how interaction is dependent on a certain level of automation, and vice versa, and (3) how each example illustrates a different balance between, and integration of interaction and automation. Based on this analysis, we propose a two-dimensional design space as a conceptual construct that takes these aspects into account to understand and analyze ways of combining interaction and automation in interaction design. We illustrate the use of the proposed two-dimensional design space, discuss its theoretical implications, and suggest it as a useful tool—when designing for engaging user experiences (UX), with interaction and automation as two design materials. © 2023, The Author(s).
