Chulalongkorn University is the premier university in Thailand, and its memorial hall is a historical landmark that showcases the prestigious history and accomplishments of the university. As a result of coronavirus-related closures, the number of visitors who were able to visit this memorial was drastically lower over the last two years, and some relics were prohibited from being visited and appreciated as well. As a solution to these problems, a virtual tour using metaverse technology is described in this paper;specifically, the memorial hall is modeled digitally using three-dimensional (3D) models, and users can observe the virtual museum environment and perform various activities virtually. A mechanism called the multiplayer approach is adopted, where several visitors can enjoy the museum's tour simultaneously by using our web-based metaverse. An activity-based environment is created where the visitors can play the piano, find ancient items hidden inside the museum, and get a reward upon successful completion of the task. It is believed that this virtual tour will meet a visitor's needs while at the same time safeguarding priceless cultural and historical artifacts and other sources of knowledge. © 2023 IEEE.

The contribution begins with the attention that there is attention of directly grid connected wind turbine systems with generator designs adapting to the grid constraints. This paper considers permanent magnet synchronous generator topologies with rotor field coils to achieve reduced mass with good efficiency for smart grids. Conventional double-excited synchronous generators have surface mounted permanent magnets. However, the low relative permeability of PMs results in an increased air-gap size. This increased air-gap size limits the minimal copper-mass of the rotor-field-winding. To improve on this limitation, Interior permanent magnets (IPM) are used. Three rotor topologies with IPM are presented in this paper. The analysis of their 2D FEM results and optimization are shown considering their magnetizing current, torque, Back EMF for smart grids application. The three rotor topologies are compared on the overall active mass and their performance by considering PM and rotor copper mass, torque capabilities and efficiency. The spoke-type topology with rectangular magnets achieves the lowest total rotor mass reduction of 39% total mass reduction when compared to the topology with PMs that are buried horizontally. The reduced copper mass and flux variation capabilities are good characteristics in wind energy conversion generators with direct grid connections for smart grid. © 2023 IEEE.

A reflectarray antenna consisting of asymmetrical patch elements is proposed,which is capable of producing dual linear and dual circular polarized operation at 26GHz *** main purpose of this design is to support four different polarizations using the same patch *** proposed reflectarray has a single layer configuration with a linearly polarized feed and circular ring slots in the ground *** patch element is designed from a square patch element by tilting its one vertical side to some optimized inclination.A wide reflection phase range of 600°is obtained with the asymmetric patch element during unit cell measurements.A 332 element circular aperture reflectarray is designed with the proposed configuration and experimentally validated with a linearly polarized prime feed *** different orientations of mirror and non-mirror asymmetric patch elements on the surface of reflectarray are *** linear polarization is obtained with the mirror orientation of the asymmetric patch elements on the surface of ***,asymmetric patch elements without mirror orientation are demonstrated to produce dual circular polarization with the same linearly polarized feed.A maximum measured gain of 24.4 dB and 26.1 dB is achieved for dual linear and dual circular polarization,*** respective measured efficiencies are 28%and 41.3%,which are supported by amaximum−3 dB gain bandwidth of 13.8%and 11.5%.The circular polarization operation of the reflectarray is also supported by a 6 dB axial ratio bandwidth of 9.2%.The proposed asymmetric patch reflectarray antenna with polarization diversity,wide bandwidth and high gain is suitable to be used in many high frequency applications of 5G communication.

This paper proposes an intelligent reflecting surface (IRS) in visible light non-orthogonal multiple access (VL-NOMA): a network signal enhancement perspective. A light-emitting diode (LED) with advantages such as illumination, programmable nature, and flexibility is used as a carrier to transmit the signal to two users. The LED employ the technique of power allocation (PA) to assign power signal properly to the two users. The potential challenge is on how to redirect the reflected signal from the LED-IRS-to the two users. The IRS has been deployed with deep reinforcement learning (DRL) approach to direct the reflected signals in an indoor system to route toward pointing to the two users which resulted in an improved signal-to-noise-ratio (SNR). This process network the LED-IRS-two users considering the polar angles. The proposed communication system is synchronized to yield an improved SNR with a significantly high channel capacity, and superimposed signals. We optimized the system to see how the reflected signal behaves. We observe that the signal with optimization performs better than ones without. We illustrated the synchronized LED-IRS-two users channel performance and superimposed signal employing the MATLAB tool. © 2023 IEEE.

Six-pole microstrip bandpass filters composed of square C-shaped resonators are designed for 4G applications at 2.6 GHz. To improve the filters selectivity around the passband, two pairs of transmission zeros are introduced by coupling of multiple resonators. The filters, which have different topologies, contain two cross couplings of opposite types in order to obtain a very sharp skirt. The simulation and measurement results show very good reflection and transmission characteristics. The proposed filters are synthesized using AWR® and simulated using CST® simulation tools. The simulated reflection coefficients are better than -13dB whereas the simulated transmission coefficients are better than -1 dB. In order to validate the simulations, one filter has been manufactured and measured. The simulated and measured results are in good agreement. The measured reflection and transmission coefficients are better than -12 dB and -4 dB respectively. The simulated and measured 3dB bandwidths are 80MHz and 60MHz respectively. A small shift in the centre frequency is obtained which is attributed to mechanical tolerances and tolerances of the thickness and dielectric constant of the substrate used. © 2022 IEEE.

Smart Building Energy Management Systems schedule appliances when it is more convenient, e.g. during off-peak times or when power is produced by Renewable Energy Sources (RES). In order to do so, it is necessary for the system to know the power consumption profiles over time of the appliances present in the building. Nevertheless, obtaining this information with sufficient detail is not straightforward, since appliance consumption varies significantly over time as compared to the average consumption. Furthermore, considering appliances with different working cycles, i.e., different power consumption profiles, such as washing machines and dishwashers, the system does not know which cycle will be selected in advance. This paper proposes an appliance power profiling system that analyses the power consumption data collected by smart meters, identifies which features are most relevant for the specific appliance and, using the k-means algorithm, extracts the set of power consumption profiles that are associated with each appliance. Preliminary simulation results show that each profile can be approximated with a single reference consumption cycle representative for the entire cluster with errors that are always lower than 10%, considering both total energy consumption and power values time interval by time interval. © 2023 IEEE.

TinyML is an emerging field of machine learning that focuses on developing and deploying models on low-power microcontrollers in embedded systems and Internet of Things devices. Edge Impulse and TensorFlow are two popular machine learning platforms that can be used for TinyML model development and implementation for various applications, such as smart crop disease detection. Farmers can improve crop yield and quality through the employment of real-time monitoring facilitated by TinyML models. These models are operational on microcontrollers integrated with cameras or sensors, enabling the timely identification of crop diseases and pest infestations. In this paper, we compare the workflow of both platforms in terms of data collection and preprocessing, model development and training, model evaluation and testing, and model deployment and inference. We use a dataset of 12,344 raw images and 7454 augmented images of healthy and diseased maize leaves to evaluate each platform's features, performance, and usability for detecting crop diseases. We also discuss the advantages and disadvantages of each platform in terms of ease of use, flexibility, scalability, reliability, and integration with hardware and cloud services. Our results demonstrate that Edge Impulse has a slight edge over TensorFlow in terms of ease of use, reliability, and memory footprint, while TensorFlow offers more flexibility, customization options and higher accuracy. In conclusion, while both platforms are suitable for crop disease detection, combining them allows for leveraging the powerful training capabilities of TensorFlow for complex neural networks, along with the simplicity of Edge Impulse for deploying them on low-powered edge devices. © 2024 IEEE.

Underwater Acoustic (UWA) communication channels are varying in nature due to various underwater conditions. The efficiency of the UWA communication system can be increased by changing transmission parameters over UWA channels based on the state of the channel. The aim of Automatic Modulation Classification (AMC) is to recognize efficiently the modulation schemes from signals received over UWA channels. In this paper, we propose an efficient method that combines equalization, Gabor filtering of constellation diagrams, thresholding and deep convolutional neural networks (CNNs) for modulation classification over the Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) range of -10 to 30 dB in UWA systems. Simulation results of the proposed method indicated an acceptable performance over a wide SNR range. © 2023 IEEE.
