Controlling the tissue temperature rise during retinal laser therapy is essential for predictable outcomes,especially at non-damaging *** demonstrate a method for determining the temperature rise in the retina using phase-sensitive optical coherence tomography(pOCT)in *** based on the thermally induced optical path length changes(ΔOPL)in the retina during a 10-ms laser pulse allow detection of the temperature rise with a precision less than 1 ℃,which is sufficient for calibration of the laser power for patient-specific non-damaging *** observed a significant difference in confinement of the retinal deformations between the normal and the degenerate retina:in wild-type rats,thermal deformations are localized between the retinal pigment epithelium(RPE)and the photoreceptors' inner segments(IS),as opposed to a deep penetration of the deformations into the inner retinal layers in the degenerate *** implies the presence of a structural component within healthy photoreceptors that dampens the tissue expansion induced by the laser heating of the RPE and pigmented *** hypothesize that the thin and soft cilium connecting the inner and outer segments(IS,OS)of photoreceptors may absorb the deformations of the OS and thereby preclude the tissue expansion further *** difference in the confinement of the retinal deformations induced by a laser pulse in healthy and degenerate retina may be used as a biomechanical diagnostic tool for the characterization of photoreceptors degeneration.

This paper presents the algorithm and very-large-scale integration (VLSI) architecture of a high-throughput and highly efficient independent component analysis (ICA) processor for self-interference cancellation (SIC) in in-band full-duplex (IBFD) systems. This is the first VLSI architecture reported in the literature based on the state-of-the-art entropy bound minimization (EBM) approach. A novel ICA algorithm is presented in this paper with momentum gradient descent optimization. Simulation results show that the number of iterations for the proposed algorithm is significantly reduced compared to the conventional ICA algorithms. Furthermore, a novel early-distribution estimation scheme is proposed in the designed ICA processor to compute multiple distribution functions with low latency and low complexity. The processing flow and the efficiency for the hardware utilization are specifically designed so that the processing speed is maximized with minimum employment of hardware components. The proposed ICA processor is designed and implemented based on the application-specific-integrated circuit (ASIC) flow. The post-layout estimations show that compared with the conventional EBM-based scheme, the proposed design improves the throughput and efficiency by 30x. In addition, compared to prior designs shown in the literature, the proposed ICA processor also demonstrates a significant enhancement in terms of throughput and efficiency. © 1983-2012 IEEE.

This manuscript proposes a single-feed dual-beam switchable array antenna using PIN diodes. The proposed an-Tenna contains three microstrip patch antenna elements and a switchable feed network loaded with two PIN diodes. The feed network creates a 90° phase difference between the center element and the right or left antenna elements. The antenna can tilt its main beam direction to θ=± 12° by exciting either right or left antenna elements along with the center patch through two PIN diodes, respectively. The concept is experimentally verified with better than 8 dBi gain for every condition at φ=0°-plane. © 2022 IEEE.

Versatile Video Coding (H.266/VVC) is the newest video coding standard jointly developed by the Joint Video Experts Team (JVET), which is organized by the ITU-T Video Coding Experts Group (VCEG) and the ISO/IEC Moving Picture Experts Group (MPEG). H.266/VVC provides about 40% bitrate reduction compared with High Efficiency Video Coding (H.265/HEVC) for the same visual quality. This paper introduces in detail the core structure of H.266/VVC by highlighting its features within block partitioning structure, intra/inter prediction, transform, quantization, and in-loop filtering, compared to its predecessor (H.265/HEVC). H.266/VVC yields significantly improved the coding performance, but it increased the computational complexity, particularly for the encoder side, which remains a problem to be tackled for successful commercialization in the future. This paper examined the statistical performance of H.266/VVC coding tools from the bitstreams encoded by the VVC test model (VTM12.0) encoder through rate-distortion optimization under the JVET common test conditions. In addition, the complexity and performance analyses are conducted on the block partitioning structure and group of picture structure. It is expected that an optimized H.266/VVC encoder can be designed and developed by minimizing the coding loss based on the analysis data. © 2023 Institute of electronics and Information Engineers. Coordination of time delay overcurrent relays becomes more difficult when renewable energy sources are incorporated into power networks. Because these sources provide changing current patterns, standard relay settings may not be enough. To ensure reliable fault prevention in systems that display the unpredictability associated with renewable energy sources such as solar and wind, this article looks at ways to enhance relay coordination. To determine the ideal time delay settings that guarantee selectivity and shorten outage length, it presents a framework that combines simulation-based fault analysis with cutting-edge optimization techniques including genetic algorithms and machine learning. The paper highlights the need of adaptive relaying strategies thus could enhance operating resilience on the system along facing changing system conditions. Our results show that relay coordination can be modified to meet industry needs and drastically reduce the fault response time. The findings of this study support additional initiative to integrate renewable energy generation into current energy infrastructures in an effective manner for sustainability and reliability improvement.

As part of the fight against climate change that involves the whole planet, Chile since 2018 has embarked on a plan for the progressive closure/conversion of the country's coal-fired thermal power plants that will end by 2040. This decarbonization process involves increasing use of renewable energy technologies for the production of electricity, causing changes in the behaviour of the country's electricity system. The object of the research is to study the effects of this change on the temporal evolution of the equivalent impedance of the network at the busbars feeding three of the most important mines of the country. For one of them, the future suitability of the harmonic filtering system present today in the plant was assessed. The analysis was carried out by simulation using the DIgSilent Power Factory software. The results obtained provided important indications, for the next decade, related to the resilience of the national electricity system (SEN) in the substations analyzed and the power quality of the distribution system at one representative mine. © 2023 IEEE.

Diabetes is a prevalent chronic health disease affecting millions of people over the world. Early detection and effective management contribute in preventing its complications. This study investigates the use of machine learning algorithms to predict the risk of acquiring diabetes based on multiple clinical parameters (Indian PIMA Dataset). In the study, advanced data preprocessing techniques like missing data handling, outlier rejection, robust scaling and SOMTE oversampling are consolidated with eight traditional machine learning. Effectiveness of those eight models such as Gradient Boosting (GB), XGBoost (EGB), Random Forest (RF), Light GBM (LGBM), Cat Boost (CB), Ada Boost (AB), Decision Tree (DT) and K-Nearest Neighbor (KNN) are analyzed and compared. The prediction outcomes of each model are contrasted using accuracy, roc score and F1 score. After evaluating the model's performances, GB has provided the highest accuracy of 90.25%, ROC score of 96.38% and F1 score of 86.48%. © 2024 IEEE.

The development of multimedia content has resulted in a massiveincrease in network traffic for video streaming. It demands such types ofsolutions that can be addressed to obtain the user’s Quality-of-Experience(QoE). 360-degree videos have already taken up the user’s behavior by ***, the users only focus on the part of 360-degree videos, known as aviewport. Despite the immense hype, 360-degree videos convey a loathsomeside effect about viewport prediction, making viewers feel uncomfortablebecause user viewport needs to be pre-fetched in advance. Ideally, we canminimize the bandwidth consumption if we know what the user motionin advance. Looking into the problem definition, we propose an EncoderDecoder based Long-Short Term Memory (LSTM) model to more accuratelycapture the non-linear relationship between past and future viewport positions. This model takes the transforming data instead of taking the direct inputto predict the future user movement. Then, this prediction model is combinedwith a rate adaptation approach that assigns the bitrates to various tiles for360-degree video frames under a given network capacity. Hence, our proposedwork aims to facilitate improved system performance when QoE parametersare jointly optimized. Some experiments were carried out and compared withexisting work to prove the performance of the proposed model. Last but notleast, the experiments implementation of our proposed work provides highuser’s QoE than its competitors.

In this paper, a comprehensive study is conducted on a large-scale single layer microstrip patch array antenna with a $16 \times 16$ element configuration. The main focus is on its capability to achieve circular polarization (CP), which is crucial for long-distance wireless communication applications like Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) and satellite communications. Extensive simulations are performed to evaluate the performance and effectiveness of the proposed design on Advanced Design System (ADS) software with a high-configuring computer. An initial feed circuit is designed using both-sided Microwave Integrated Circuit (MIC) technology to create a $2 \times 2$ array antenna. This design is then expanded to a $4 \times 4$ array and further implemented into an $8 \times 8$ array. By continuing this process, a $16 \times 16$ microstrip patch array antenna is constructed on a 0.8mm thick Teflon Glass Fiber substrate with a relative dielectric constant of 2.15. Having a slot in the ground plane greatly simplifies the design for feeding. The simulated results demonstrate excellent findings of the array antenna, showcasing exceptional circular polarization capabilities with an impressive impedance bandwidth of 450 MHz. Additionally, the Axial Ratio (AR) value at a frequency of 5.8 GHz stands at an impressive 0.70 dB. The proposed antenna exhibits a remarkably high gain of 47 dB in the broadside direction, having a level difference with the side-lobe gain of more than 20 dB. Additionally, it demonstrates a relative power level difference of over 20 dB in the LHCP mode indicating excellent CP performances.
