The COVID-19 pandemic has affected millions of people globally, with respiratory organs being strongly affected in individuals with comorbidities. Medical imaging-based diagnosis and prognosis have become increasingly popular in clinical settings for detecting COVID-19 lung infections. Among various medical imaging modalities, ultrasound stands out as a low-cost, mobile, and radiation-safe imaging technology. In this comprehensive review, we focus on AI-driven studies utilizing lung ultrasound (LUS) for COVID-19 detection and analysis. We provide a detailed overview of both publicly available and private LUS datasets and categorize the AI studies according to the dataset they used. Additionally, we systematically analyzed and tabulated the studies across various dimensions, including data preprocessing methods, AI models, cross-validation techniques, and evaluation metrics. In total, we reviewed 60 articles, 41 of which utilized public datasets, while the remaining employed private data. Our findings suggest that ultrasound-based AI studies for COVID-19 detection have great potential for clinical use, especially for children and pregnant women. Our review also provides a useful summary for future researchers and clinicians who may be interested in the field. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2025.

The SIW antenna suffers from the narrow bandwidth for a single cavity and single resonant. Defected ground structure (DGS) with a dual cavity was the solution to solve narrow bandwidth by resulting in hybrid resonance. The hybrid resonance with 14.83% impedance bandwidth is proposed in this antenna design. The first resonance resulted from the combination of the TE101 modes from inner and outer HMSIW cavities while the second resonance resulted from the combination of the strong TE101 and the weak TE102 mode from the inner HMSIW cavity and the addition of the weak TE101 from the outer HMSIW cavity. The measurement antenna design has a broadband antenna with a 14.31% (5.71 – 6.59 GHz) impedance bandwidth by using substrate Rogers RO 5880. © The Author(s).

Computer network technology can support educational institutions in exchanging, managing, and delivering digital data over network nodes. Educational institutions play an important role in health, technology, science, and engineering research. Therefore, it is essential for educational institutions to have their own internet access and control their security, stability, and manageability. This study focuses on providing a secure, scalable, and available enterprise network for all departments of the East Africa University (EAU), Somalia. Such a project no one has mad, after successful implementation in a simulation university, has built this design, which is currently being used. In this project, we propose a secure campus network with both a physical and logical topology network infrastructure. The simulation was performed using Graphical Network Simulator-3 (GNS3), which is mostly used to test complex networking scenarios. We configured communication network devices including switches, routers, and FortiGate firewalls to provide availability and manageability to enhance the performance and network security of all departments at EAU University. Furthermore, we configured security features, including port security, DHCP snooping, VLAN hopping attacks (by disabling VLAN1), unused switch ports, disabling the CDP protocol, dynamic trunk protocols (DTP) on all access and trunk ports, password management, access control, and managing unnecessary services to mitigate both LAN and WAN attacks. The results showed that the connectivity between all end devices and network devices was successful. Similarly, security features and weak password restrictions were tested and verified. The commands used in the simulation can be used for further studies and deployment at other educational institutions. © 2024 IEEE.

An era of automation is currently being experienced, where everything is becoming more automated day by day. Automation technology has been applied everywhere, from smaller to larger scales. Moreover, real-time communication between complicated human-machine interfaces is one of the difficulties of the fourth industrial revolution. That is why robots are essential in this field because they improve human lifestyles, lighten workloads, and carry out several dangerous tasks. This research presents a groundbreaking advancement in the form of an automated real-time IoT-based data monitoring robot in an era characterized by the proliferation of automation and the Internet of Things (IoT). This ground-breaking system combines GPS-GSM functionality, human life detection, land mine detection, image processing, and live streaming in an efficient manner. The robot utilizes its IoT framework and a variety of embedded sensors and technology to gather, process, and transmit realtime data from its surroundings. Notably, it supports disaster response, military operations, and safety measures by performing the vital tasks of detecting human life and land mines. The ability to categorize and process visual data is improved by the image processing feature, and situational awareness is provided by live streaming © 2024 IEEE.

This paper presents a multiband metamaterial (MM) absorber that displays the metamaterial characteristics at each resonance frequency. Broadband absorption is achieved in the X band at the range of 10.373 GHz to 10.825 GHz. Four resonances gain in C and X band frequency with single negative (SNG) MM properties at the frequencies of 4. 12, 5.776, 10.472, and 10.696 GHz, where the maximum absorptions are 99.4%, 99.9%, 95%, and 90.4% respectively. At last, compared with recent work on MM concerning the highest angle insensitive in Transverse Electromagnetic (TEM) mode, broadband absorption, compact size identifies it as a more useful ideal absorber. © 2023 IEEE.

A multi-band metamaterial antenna is proposed to operate at the terahertz(THz)band for medical *** proposed structure is designed on a polyimide as a support layer,and its radiating elements are made of ***,the design is started with a conventional shape showing a single operating frequency at 1.1 *** achieve a multi-band operating frequency,the conventional shape was replaced with the proposed metamaterial as a radiating patch that has properties not exist in *** multi-band frequencies are obtained without compromising the overall size of the *** overall size is 600×600×25μm^(3).The operating frequencies are 0.36,0.49,0.69,0.87,and 1.04 THz.A full ground plane is used to behave as isolation between the design and the human body *** proposed design is investigated on free space and on the human body model,showing excellent performance in both *** achieved gains for the following frequencies 0.36,0.49,0.69,0.87,and 1.04 THz are 4.81,6.5,8.41,6.02,and 7.96 dB,respectively,while the efficiencies are 83.91%,96.28%,90.80%,91.71%,and 92.99%,*** conventional design was modified to have a partial ground to show the benefit of using the full *** design is loaded on the human body model and its performance is *** efficiency and gain are 6.61 dB and 95.58.7%for the case of no human body model,and 4.26 dB and 40.30%for the case of using a human body ***,the proposed metamaterial antenna will be useful for future medical applications in the THz band.

Few‐shot image classification is the task of classifying novel classes using extremely limited labelled *** perform classification using the limited samples,one solution is to learn the feature alignment(FA)information between the labelled and unlabelled sample *** FA methods use the feature mean as the class prototype and calculate the correlation between prototype and unlabelled features to learn an alignment ***,mean prototypes tend to degenerate informative features because spatial features at the same position may not be equally important for the final classification,leading to inaccurate correlation ***,the authors propose an effective intraclass FA strategy that aggregates semantically similar spatial features from an adaptive reference prototype in low‐dimensional feature space to obtain an informative prototype feature map for precise correlation ***,a dual correlation module to learn the hard and soft correlations was developed by the *** module combines the correlation information between the prototype and unlabelled features in both the original and learnable feature spaces,aiming to produce a comprehensive cross‐correlation between the prototypes and unlabelled *** both FA and cross‐attention modules,our model can maintain informative class features and capture important shared features for *** results on three few‐shot classification benchmarks show that the proposed method outperformed related methods and resulted in a 3%performance boost in the 1‐shot setting by inserting the proposed module into the related methods.

The emerging disaster situations within buildup areas due to the collapsing of buildings and tunnels due to bombardments, and natural disasters require immediate rescue missions to save the lives affected, however, the volatile environment poses a huge threat to the rescuers. Furthermore, the aforesaid situation also hinders the surveillance and detection capability. This work is focused on the development of a snake robot with natural side winding rectilinear and serpentine motion to assist rescuers in surveillance and detection of affected within rubbles and ruins. The snake robot, which is composed of numerous series of elastic actuators, utilizes a modular structure to flexibly comply with demanding conditions. Within the snake robot's 10 joints, an unequal or odd number of series elastic actuators are utilized. We take into account various factors such as size, weight, power, and speed as tradeoffs. Each standalone module consists of a geared servo motor, a bearing, and a series elastic actuator, along with custom electronics that integrate sensors. We also developed the infra-red camera-equipped head and tail modules of the robot, as well as the software program responsible for coordinating the aforementioned motion. Furthermore, we validated and the simulation for both the open-loop and closed-loop control environments. The testing of the prototype in different real-world surface conditions was carried out with successful results. © 2024 IEEE.

We present SimuSIL, a software-in-the-loop (SIL) simulation platform using open-source tools to capture the behavior of connected vehicles in intelligent transportation system (ITS) applications. Connected cooperative vehicles use vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communication to enable ITS. Real-world testing of ITS applications involves significant risks. Simulating true vehicle dynamics and real-time behavior is challenging in discrete time step environments. We extend the Veins platform, integrating SUMO and OMNet++, with Webots, a simulator for robots and vehicles. Webots implements engine control unit (ECU) models in software to mimic physical vehicle behavior. We validate SimuSIL with a car-following application using Webots and demonstrate its ability to capture communication anomalies like packet losses. Additionally, we demonstrate fuel consumption and CO2 emissions in autonomous eco-driving versus human driving. © 2024 IEEE.

This research encapsulates the design of a compact Ultra-Wide Band (UWB) antenna resonating in 5G mm-wave, covering the respective n257, n258, and n261 bands. The circular patch with slots aids in enhancing the gain and radiation efficiency of our proposed antenna. The antenna's bottom ground plane is Defected Ground Structure (DGS), which aids in extending its bandwidth. The antenna is compact, having a dimension of 12×12 mm2. This antenna has a wide bandwidth of 19.73 GHz and a maximum efficiency of 91%. A Frequency Selective Surface (FSS) with L shaped unit cell is used at the antenna's back end (5 mm) to increase gain even further, achieving a maximum gain of 8.24 dBi. The antenna element for our proposed antenna is mounted over a Rogers RT 5880 substrate. Two circular parasitic elements are designed on the bilateral side of the feedline to facilitate a better radiation pattern. © 2023 IEEE.
