An H-CAM (Content Addressable Memory with Hamming distance search function) is a specialized similarity search hardware. Previous papers proposed and studies NP-H-CAM (Non-Precharge-H-CAM) to reduce the power consumption. The power consumption issue of the NP-H-CAM was improved by adding a clocked CMOS inverters to each memory cell. But the NP-H-CAM using clocked CMOS inverters has an issue with the long readout time. In this paper, we insert our newly proposed the 'SIS (CMOS Switch-Inverter-Switch) type' clocked CMOS inverters into the memory cells of the NP- H -CAM to enhance the readout speed by about 30% with increasing the power consumption by about 3%. We compare the readout speed of the proposed and conventional circuits using HSPICE simulation and show the advantages of the proposed NP-H-CAM in terms of the readout speed. © 2024 IEEE.

Aviation companies faced significant losses due to transportation restrictions amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Their inability to provide customer-friendly services resulted in a decrease in customer satisfaction. Machine learning models have become indispensable tools for predicting customer satisfaction and improving the quality of airline services. This study focused on utilizing three distinct feature reduction algorithms to generate three sets of feature collections, which were employed in six different machine learning models along with a hyperparameter tuning method, such as GridSearch, to achieve optimal results. GridSearch systematically evaluated numerous hyperparameter combinations. After applying three distinct algorithms for feature reduction and hyperparameter tuning, a comparative analysis of six different machine learning models was conducted to identify the one that provides the most accurate predictions of passenger satisfaction. The study's outcome indicated that the Random Forest stood out as the most favorable choice for the highest performance score. It achieved an outstanding accuracy score of 97%, as well as impressive precision, recall, and F1-score values of 97%, 97%, and 97%, respectively. This model's exceptional performance surpassed most recent similar studies regarding accuracy and efficiency. © 2023 IEEE.

With the help of in-body antennas,the wireless communication among the implantable medical devices(IMDs)and exterior monitoring equipment,the telemetry system has brought us many ***,a very thin-profile circularly polarized(CP)in-body antenna,functioning in ISM band at 2.45 GHz,is proposed.A tapered coplanar waveguide(CPW)method is used to excite the *** radiator contains a pentagonal shape with five horizontal slits inside to obtain a circular polarization behavior.A bendable Roger Duroid RT5880 material(εr=2.2,tanδ=0.0009)with a typical 0.25 mm-thickness is used as a *** proposed antenna has a total volume of 21×13×0.25 *** antenna covers up a bandwidth of 2.38 to 2.53 GHz(150 MHz)in vacuum,while in skin tissue it covers 1.56 to 2.72 GHz(1.16 GHz)and in the muscle tissue covers 2.16 to 3.17 GHz(1.01 GHz).GHz).The flexion analysis in the x and y axes was also performed in simulation as the proposed antenna works with a wider bandwidth in the skin and muscle *** simulation and the curved antenna measurements turned out to be in good *** impedance bandwidth of−10 dB and the axis ratio bandwidth of 3 dB(AR)are measured on the skin and imitative gel of the pig at 27.78%and 35.5%,13.5%and 4.9%,respectively,at a frequency of 2.45 *** simulations revealed that the specific absorption rate(SAR)in the skin is 0.634 and 0.914 W/kg in muscle on *** recommended SAR values are below the limits set by the federal communications commission(FCC).Finally,the proposed low-profile implantable antenna has achieved very compact size,flexibility,lower SAR values,high gain,higher impedance and axis ratio bandwidths in the skin and muscle tissues of the human *** antenna is smaller in size and a good applicant for application in medical implants.

Congenital heart diseases (CHDs) are reported in one out of 125 newborns annually, and in recent years, there has been an increase in fetal deaths due to poor monitoring of fetal development during pregnancy. However, it is possible to monitor the electrical activity of the fetus in the mother's womb using a fetal electrocardiogram (FECG). Although FECG can be acquired invasively, most of the equipment is designed for the non-invasive approach. Current research work has shown the use of non-invasive FECG signals, obtained using six electrodes (one chest electrode and five abdominal electrodes named AI, AII, AIII, AIV and AV), to identify minor abnormalities in fetal heart development. The raw FECG signal contains noise components, such as power line interference, baseline wandering and motion artifacts, which can affect the accuracy of the signal. Therefore, this study proposes the use of Symlet Wavelet decomposition, digital filters for signal conditioning and QRS complex isolation prior to the feature extraction for a reliable assessment. Since the FECG signals are obtained using the multi-lead acquisition method, this paper will focus to identify the features of the FECG QRS complex and identifying the abdominal electrode(s) that are feasible to distinguish minor abnormalities with improved FECG acquisition. The indices were derived from the QRS complex focusing on the time intervals and gradients of slopes. The Welch's t-test was performed to identify the significance between the abnormal and healthy conditions. Thereby, the most suitable abdomen electrodes were determined as AI, AIII and AV along with chest electrodes for FECG acquisition. Additionally, newly derived indices have shown the potential of distinguishing the unnoticed minor variations which can be promising diagnostic tools in the early detection of CHDs. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper derives the optimum detection rule for communication systems with n-bit phase quantization when data is differentially encoded at the transmitter. The proposed approach avoids the channel estimation problem at the receiver. First, a maximum likelihood detection rule for block-2 detectors utilizing only two consecutive quantized observations at the channel output is obtained. Second, it is shown that the derived maximum likelihood detection rule continues to be optimum for the class of block-L detectors for L = 3 when n = log2 M, where M is the input alphabet size. Finally, utilizing the structure of the derived optimum detector, a message error probability expression is obtained for Rayleigh fading wireless channels. A simulation study is performed to illustrate the performance of the optimum detectors as well as the performance loss due to the lack of channel knowledge at the receiver. The proposed approach and the solutions presented in this paper provide an initial step to communicate with low-resolution ADCs without requiring receiver-side channel knowledge. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper provides a detailed account of the structural redesign of a 25 meter patrol boat, initially crafted from aluminum light alloy, as part of a retrofitting initiative to convert it into a high-performance pleasure craft using composite materials. The overarching goal is to preserve the original hull shape while investigating the potential of three distinct composite materials, GRP, carbon composite and a hybrid solution. The proposed structural configurations and scantlings in the study are meticulously crafted to align with the vertical acceleration specifications stipulated by the Italian Classification Society RINA. A pivotal aspect of the optimization strategy revolves around giving due consideration to structural weight as the primary influencing factor. To determine the most suitable material for the retrofit, an initial comparative analysis is conducted, leveraging direct calculations from the Classification Society. The chosen solution undergoes a more refined optimization process through structural Finite Element analysis. This sophisticated analytical approach not only validates the initial material selection but also pinpoints specific areas within the hull's lamination stack where plies can be strategically removed. © 2024 by the International Society of Offshore and Polar Engineers (ISOPE).

Autonomous driving technology relies heavily on sensor data for environment perception. Heterogeneous sensors such as lidar, radar, and camera have their own strengths and limitations. Therefore, relying on any single sensor would restrict the effectiveness of autonomous driving technology. However, integrating data from such heterogeneous sensors poses challenges due to differences in their representations. This article outlines a deep learning network aimed at designing modality-agnostic multi-modal fusion architecture. We study sensor data from different modalities and learn fine-grained representations using modality-specific feature encoders independently. Then, a multi-modal attention-based network (MMA-Net) is proposed to fuse the data from heterogeneous modalities. The proposed MMA-Net fuses multi-modal sensor data by jointly exploiting the inter-modality and intra-modality relationships among camera, lidar, and radar sensors. The effectiveness of the proposed multi-modal fusion architecture is demonstrated using 2-D object detection metrics through extensive experiments on a dataset generated using the CARLA simulator. © 2025 IEEE.

The development of an electronic display board that utilizes global system for mobile communications (GSM) functionalities is presented in this paper. The aim of this research was to overcome the challenges associated with the currently deployed display notice boards systems. These challenges include the enormous man power and time required to change the notice on a manual notice board and the required tedious reprogramming to change the notice on a programmable notice board. This research utilized the combined advantages of GSM and embedded system technology to eliminate these challenges. The control unit is developed with an ATMEGA328P microcontroller to control the transmission and reception of messages from the Mobile phone to a GSM900 modem. The STM32F103 microcontroller controls the display and scrolling of the messages on a P10 light-emitting diode (LED) matrix display board unit. Also, a set of instruction codes written in the object-oriented C language, programmed onto the microcontrollers provided all required functionalities of the wireless control and display of notices. Results obtained showed that information in the form of text messages can be sent from a mobile phone for display on the electronic display notice board. © 2024 IEEE.

electrical energy distribution faces the significant issue of losses, with power theft being a main factor contributing to these losses. This difficulty is not limited to Pakistan but is also prevalent in several other nations worldwide. This study introduces a technique that utilizes smart meters to identify the approximate whereabouts of power theft. In addition to the detection of power theft, this study also presents a mechanism for the eradication of unauthorized users. The methodology used involves comparing the overall energy with the energy that is lawfully utilized. Wireless communication systems, such as Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) and Network Repository Function (NRF), are used for communication between the meters. © 2024 IEEE.

This work addresses the problem of adaptive control of Euler-Lagrange systems considering unknown parameters without the hypothesis that the persistence of excitation (PE) condition holds. A systematic framework to obtain linear regression equations in accordance with the dynamic regressor extension and mixing (DREM) technique is proposed involving the notion of the Euler-Lagrange first integral. Then, we develop a novel robust nonlinear adaptive H∞ controller capable of ensuring both convergence of the estimated unknown parameters and trajectory tracking in finite-time under a more relaxed condition than the PE assumption. The effectiveness of the proposed robust nonlinear adaptive H∞ controller is corroborated through numerical experiments with a simplified CRS-A465 robot manipulator. © 2024 IEEE.
