Most companies relay on centralized servers, which are considered as a fast and easy to deploy solution for file sharing, but they have many downsides, like security and trust issues, which can be solved using DLT (blockchain) solutions. However, DLT-based solutions have many challenges, such as nodes orchestration, adjusting reliability and double-spending, as well as load balancing. This research proposes a DLT (Distributed Ledger Technology) based model for files storage for companies using p2p networks, which takes into account both data reliability and storage space efficiency. More efficient data storage is achieved through the use of the Erasure coding technique. For load balancing, a set of algorithms that can be implemented in the form of a smart contract were proposed. The described model can become the basis of the IT infrastructure for trusted exchange of documents, technical and scientific information, games distributions, mobile applications, updates of scientific, regulatory and technical databases in b2b and b2c format © 2022 IEEE.

Digital pathology allows for the efficient storage and advanced computational analysis of stained histopathological slides of various tissues. Tissue segmentation is a crucial first step of digital pathology aimed at eliminating background, pen markings, and other artifacts, reducing image size, and increasing the efficiency of further analysis. In most cases, color thresholding or deep learning models are used, but their effectiveness is reduced due to complex artifacts and huge color variations between slides. We propose a post processing method to increase the tissue segmentation performance of any initial segmentation algorithm. Using a set of 197 manually annotated histopathological images of breast cancer patients and 63 images of endometrial cancer patients, we tested our method with 3 thresholding techniques and 3 deep learning-based algorithms by calculating the Dice index, Jaccard index, precision, and recall. In both datasets, applying post processing increased precision and recall for thresholding methods and mostly precision for deep learning models. Overall, applying post-processing gave better tissue segmentation performance than initial segmentation methods, significantly increasing Dice and Jaccard indices. Our results proved that thanks to post-processing, the tissue segmentation pipeline is more robust to noises and artifacts commonly present in histopathological images. © 2025 by SCITEPRESS– science and Technology Publications, Lda.

Cobalt titanate, CoTiO3, is a honeycomb antiferromagnet recently confirmed experimentally to host Dirac magnons, topological spin-orbit excitons, and chiral phonons. Here, we investigate a magnon gap at the zone center which calls for a refined spin Hamiltonian. We propose a microscopic model for the magnon gap and attribute it to a lattice-distortion (phonon)-induced higher-order spin interaction. Strong magnetoelastic coupling in CoTiO3 is also evident in Raman spectra, in which the magnetic order exerts a stronger influence on phonons corresponding to in-plane ionic motions than those with out-of-plane motions. We further examine the evolution of the zone-center magnons in a high magnetic field up to 18.5 T via THz absorption spectroscopy measurements. Based on this field dependence, we propose a spin Hamiltonian that not only agrees with magnon dispersion measured by inelastic neutron scattering but also includes fewer exchange constants and a realistic anisotropy term. Our work highlights the broad implications of magnetoelastic coupling in the study of topologically protected bosonic excitations.

Distributed Online Bandit Nonconvex Optimization with One-Point Residual Feedback via Dynamic Regret

This paper considers the distributed online bandit optimization problem with nonconvex loss functions over a time-varying digraph. This problem can be viewed as a repeated game between a group of online players and an adversary. At each round, each player selects a decision from the constraint set, and then the adversary assigns an arbitrary, possibly nonconvex, loss function to this player. Only the loss value at the current round, rather than the entire loss function or any other information (e.g. gradient), is privately revealed to the player. Players aim to minimize a sequence of global loss functions, which are the sum of local losses. We observe that traditional multi-point bandit algorithms are unsuitable for online optimization, where the data for the loss function are not all a priori, while the one-point bandit algorithms suffer from poor regret guarantees. To address these issues, we propose a novel one-point residual feedback distributed online algorithm. This algorithm estimates the gradient using residuals from two points, effectively reducing the regret bound while maintaining O(1) sampling complexity per iteration. We employ a rigorous metric, dynamic regret, to evaluate the algorithm's performance. By appropriately selecting the step size and smoothing parameters, we demonstrate that the expected dynamic regret of our algorithm is comparable to existing algorithms that use two-point feedback, provided the deviation in the objective function sequence and the path length of the minimization grows sublinearly. Finally, we validate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm through numerical simulations. Copyright © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

The economic dispatch problem (EDP) poses a significant challenge in energy management for modern power systems, particularly as these systems undergo expansion. This growth escalates the demand for communication resources and increases the risk of communication failures. To address this challenge, we propose a distributed algorithm with network-independent step sizes and an event-triggered mechanism, which reduces communication requirements and enhances adaptability. Unlike traditional methods, our algorithm uses network-independent step sizes derived from each agent's local cost functions, thus eliminating the need for detailed network topology knowledge. The theoretical derivation identifies a range of step size values that depend solely on the objective function's strong convexity and the gradient's Lipschitz continuity. Furthermore, the proposed algorithm is shown to achieve a linear convergence rate, assuming the event triggering threshold criteria are met for linear convergence. Numerical experiments further validate the effectiveness and advantages of our proposed distributed algorithm by demonstrating its ability to maintain good convergence characteristics while reducing communication frequency. © 2024 John Wiley & Sons Ltd.

In data mining, frequent-pattern mining methods are used for handling binary databases. Utility mining addresses this limitation by considering the item utilities and quantities when discovering the high utility itemsets. In addition, to make these high utility patterns more human-explainable, we use the fuzzy-set theory to the utility mining algorithms. However, real-world databases are usually dynamic. That is, new transactions may be intermittently added, and the corresponding mined knowledge needs to be updated. This paper uses the famous incremental strategy, fast update (FUP), to modify high fuzzy utility itemsets from new coming data. We implement the FUP strategy on the Apriori-based approach for maintaining up-to-date high fuzzy utility *** also conducted experiments to demonstrate that the incremental algorithm significantly outperforms the Apriori-based batch mining method. © 2022 ACM.

Traditional visual-inertial SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping) systems predominantly rely on feature point matching from a single robot to realize the robot pose estimation and environment map construction. However, in complex scenarios, these traditional systems struggle with issues such as tracking failures due to illumination changes, rapid movements, and low-texture environments, and they perform poorly in terms of mapping efficiency and global consistency. To address these challenges, we propose a centralized collaborative SLAM system that employs both point and line features for tracking in the robot and map fusion in the cloud. The proposed system leverages the fusion of point and line features across all instances in the process, which allows our method to achieve higher localization accuracy in structured, low-texture scenes. With the aid of classifying gravity-aligned vertical lines and spatial parallel lines, the proposed system can deliver faster and more accurate odometry in complex scenes. Furthermore, we developed intra-robot and inter-robot loop closure detection methods based on point and line features, generating a globally consistent sparse point cloud and structured scene map in the cloud. Our method is able to build richer maps while improving accuracy compared to existing methods. Experimental results on public datasets and in real-world environments show that, compared to existing advanced methods, our approach demonstrates better performance. © 2014 IEEE.

This paper investigates online stochastic aggregative games subject to local set constraints and time-varying coupled inequality constraints, where each player possesses a time-varying expectation-valued cost function relying on not only its own decision variable but also an aggregation of all the players’ variables. Each player can only access its local individual cost function and constraints, necessitating partial information exchanges with neighboring players through time-varying unbalanced networks. Additionally, local cost functions and constraint functions are not prior knowledge and only revealed gradually. To learn generalized Nash equilibria of such games, a novel distributed online stochastic algorithm is devised based on push-sum and primal-dual strategies. Through rigorous analysis, high probability bounds on the regret and constraint violation are provided by appropriately selecting decreasing stepsizes. Moreover, for a time-invariant stochastic strongly monotone game, it is shown that the generated sequence by the designed algorithm converges to its variational generalized Nash equilibrium (GNE) almost surely, and the time-averaged sequence converges sublinearly with high probability. In recent years, waste management has become a major concern in Russian cities. This can be addressed through the circular economy. Developing Eco-Industrial Parks (EIP) can be considered an innovative infrastructure of a circular economy. EIP is based upon the principles of industrial symbiosis involving the exchange of material and energy flows, sharing of infrastructural facilities, and provision of municipal utility and other services. Researchers have found that most industrial symbiotic interconnections originated spontaneously, the main driver being the increasing commercial benefits of such interchange. Still, the authors were able to identify pre-designed EIP through their examination of global practices. This paper proposes a five-stage methodological approach to EIP organization. This methodology was applied to create a model of an EIP in the Voronezh Region, one of the fastest developing regions in Russia. Implementation of this model is intended to help solve a set of environmental, economic, and social problems of a region. The approach to creating EIPs described in this study can be used in other places to improve resource efficiency and reduce waste disposal. Because Russia’s garbage disposal rate currently exceeds 90% per year, this is one of the country’s top sustainable development priorities. © 2021 Technoscience Publications. All rights reserved.
