In this paper, we propose a distributed scheme for estimating the network size, which refers to the total number of agents in a network. By leveraging a synchronization technique for multi-agent systems, we devise an agent dynamics that ensures convergence to an equilibrium point located near the network size regardless of its initial condition. Our approach is based on an assumption that each agent has a unique identifier, and an estimation algorithm for obtaining the largest identifier value. By adopting this approach, we successfully implement the agent dynamics in a fully decentralized manner, ensuring accurate network size estimation even when some agents join or leave the network. © 2024, CC BY-NC-ND.

Demands for data traffic in high-speed railway (HSR) has increased drastically. The increasing entertainment needs of passengers, safety control information exchanges of trains, etc., make train-to-train (T2T) communications face the challenge of achieving high-capacity and high-quality data transmissions. In order to greatly increase the communication capacity, it is urgent to introduce millimeter wave (mmWave) technology. Faced with the problem that mmWave link is easy to be blocked, this paper leverages the existing equipment to assist relay, and proposes an effective transmission scheduling scheme to improve the robustness of T2T communication systems. First of all, we formulate a mixed integer nonlinear programming (MINLP) optimization problem the transmission scheduling in T2T communication systems where mobile relays (MRs) are all working in the full-duplex (FD) mode. Then we propose a low complexity heuristic algorithm to solve the optimization problem, which consists of three components: relay selection, transmission mode selection, and transmission scheduling. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can greatly improve the number of completed flows and system throughput. Finally, we analyze the influence of different design parameters on the system performance. The results show that the proposed algorithm can achieve more data flows and system throughput within a reasonable communication distance threshold in T2T communication with obstacles in different orbits. It can balance the computational complexity and system performance to achieve an efficient and robust data transmission. Copyright © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

The work is devoted to the study of the frequency features of the optical flow obtained from the video record of long-term video-electroencephalographic (video-EEG) monitoring data of patients with epilepsy. It is necessary to obtain features to recognize epileptic seizures and differentiate them from non-epileptic events. We propose to analyze the periodograms of the smoothed optical flow calculated from the fragments of the patient's video recordings. We use Welch's method to obtain periodograms. The values of the power spectral density of the optical flow at the selected frequencies will be used as features. Using the clustering algorithm, four groups of events were identified in video recordings. © Authors 2021. CC BY 4.0 License.

In the past, only mobiles and computers were connected to the internet but in the new era with the advent of new technologies other things like security cameras, microwaves, Databases, cars, and industrial equipment's are now connected to the internet. There are over several billion electronic equipment devices already on the internet, and within a decade these number is expected to increase massively. Info-communications have various software security solutions to defend and protect them from most of threats and attacks, although there are indiscernible security solutions to take care of the rest of the IoT [1]. Lately, as a strong example, several thousands of network equipments were breached to proceed DOS and DDOS attacks that caused them. Solutions in info-communication are not exclusively software but the entire physical environment of hardware, World Wide Web (WWW), Software, Cloud, and mobile interfaces involved. The Cyberspace ecosystem services are getting extended and not very fully developed yet for these reasons there are main primarily concerns fact around cyberspace adoption due to security threats/attacks. Cyber-security top Concerns: Cloud jacking [7], IoT devices, Phishing attacks, DDoS, Malwares and unauthorized devices. This paper shows hybrid solutions given in a mathematical and theoretical form for mitigating cyber-attacks in info-communication system. © 2020 IEEE.

Spatial-temporal (ST) graph modeling, such as traffic speed forecasting and taxi demand prediction, is an important task in deep learning area. However, for the nodes in graph, their ST patterns can vary greatly in difficulties for modeling, owning to the heterogeneous nature of ST data. We argue that unveiling the nodes to the model in a meaningful order, from easy to complex, can provide performance improvements over traditional training procedure. The idea has its root in Curriculum Learning (Bengio et al. 2009) which suggests in the early stage of training models can be sensitive to noise and difficult samples. In this paper, we propose ST-Curriculum Dropout, a novel and easy-to-implement strategy for spatial-temporal graph modeling. Specifically, we evaluate the learning difficulty of each node in high-level feature space and drop those difficult ones out to ensure the model only needs to handle fundamental ST relations at the beginning, before gradually moving to hard ones. Our strategy can be applied to any canonical deep learning architecture without extra trainable parameters, and extensive experiments on a wide range of datasets are conducted to illustrate that, by controlling the difficulty level of ST relations as the training progresses, the model is able to capture better representation of the data and thus yields better generalization. © 2022, CC BY.

In this letter, we propose a control scheme for regulating the voltage in Direct Current (DC) power networks. In contrast with other works in the literature where the loads are assumed to be constant, we consider uncertain time-varying loads described as the outputs of nonlinear dynamical exosystems with uncertain parameters. Based on the output regulation methodology, the proposed control scheme ensures the robust stability of the overall network and achieves voltage regulation in presence of impedance (Z), current (I), and power (P) loads. The simulation results illustrate excellent performance of the proposed control scheme.

Consciousness has been historically a heavily debated topic in engineering, science, and philosophy. On the contrary, awareness had less success in raising the interest of scholars in the past. However, things are changing as more and more researchers are getting interested in answering questions concerning what awareness is and how it can be artificially generated. The landscape is rapidly evolving, with multiple voices and interpretations of the concept being conceived and techniques being developed. The goal of this paper is to summarize and discuss the ones among these voices that are connected with projects funded by the EIC Pathfinder Challenge called "Awareness Inside", a nonrecurring call for proposals within Horizon Europe that was designed specifically for fostering research on natural and synthetic awareness. In this perspective, we dedicate special attention to challenges and promises of applying synthetic awareness in robotics, as the development of mature techniques in this new field is expected to have a special impact on generating more capable and trustworthy embodied systems. © 2024, CC BY.
