An Escort and Defense Scenario is presented in which a high-value Target maneuvers through a high-risk region while being escorted by a mobile, defensive agent. Along this trajectory, an Attacker may be launched from one of several possible launch locations. If a launch occurs, the three agents play out a Target-Attacker-Defender (TAD) differential game in which the Defender attempts to intercept the Attacker at maximal distance from the Target while the Attacker strives to maneuver as close as possible to the Target. Prior to launch, the Target and Defender strive to preposition themselves in advantageous positions to effectively respond to a potential threat while simultaneously moving towards a safety region. An augmented collocation-based direct optimal control method is developed to solve the escort problem by solving and utilizing the value of the TAD differential subgame at each collocation point while simultaneously optimizing the primary optimal control problem. © 2024 IEEE.

Internet of Things (IoT) reliability evaluation contributes to the sustainable computing and enhanced stability of the network. Previous algorithms usually evaluate the reliability of IoT by enumenating the states of nodes and networks, which are difficult to handle IoT with hundreds of nodes because the computational cost. In this paper, a novel algorithm, TMCRA, is proposed to evaluate the reliability of IoT in complex network environment, which consider both coverage and connectivity. For coverage, TMCRA employs the Confident Information Coverage (CIC) model to divide the target area into independent grids and calculates the coverage rate. In terms of connectivity, TMCRA forming the Virtual Backbone Network (VBN) based on two proposed methods: TMA and MGIN, and evaluate connectivity by analyzing the VBN rather than the whole network. The TMA and MGIN are two algorithms for constructing Minimum Connected Dominant Sets (MCDS), which are suitable for different scale networks. Finally, based on the data of coverage and connectivity, TMCRA utilizes tensors for the unified modeling and representation of network structure, and calculates IoT reliability based on the tensors. Simulations are carried out for various sizes of IoT to show the advantages and effectiveness of the proposed approach in reliability evaluation. © 2016 IEEE.

Erasable-itemset mining has become a popular research topic and is usually used for product production planning in the industry. If some products in a factory may be removed without critically affecting production profits, the set composed of them is called an erasable itemset. Erasable-itemset mining is to find all the removable material sets for saving funds. This paper extends the concept of erasable itemsets to consider customer behavior with a sequence of orders. We consider the scenario that when an item (material) is not purchased, a product using that material cannot be manufactured, and clients will cancel all their orders if at least one such order exists. We propose a modified erasable-itemset mining algorithm for solving the above problem. Finally, experiments with varying thresholds are conducted to evaluate the execution time and mining results of the proposed algorithm considering customer behavior. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Explainable Application Intent for Zero-Touch Networking: An Incorporation of Hypergraph and Transformer

The autonomous interpretation of application intent (APPI) represents the primary step towards achieving closed-loop autonomy in zero-touch networking (ZTN) and also a prerequisite for intent-based networking (IBN). However, understanding APPIs and invoking the corresponding network resources require network professionals with extensive technical expertise to customize network service requests (NSRs), which presents significant challenges for the large-scale deployment of ZTN. This paper investigates an interesting problem of autonomous interpretation of APPIs for ZTN, where a novel mechanism integrating hypergraph and transformer with completeness assurance (HyperTrans-CA) is proposed. In particular, we first involve the Bayesian theory to model APPIs interpretability as maximizing the correct transition probability, where hypergraph is used to describe the complex relationship between application characteristics (e.g., scenario function, and performance) and NSRs, including network devices, virtual network functions (VNFs), and resources. Then, the hypergraph is integrated into the encoder, decoder, and attention mechanisms of Transformer, and a completeness assurance mechanism is designed to improve the prediction accuracy. The convergence of HyperTrans-CA and the corresponding convergence speed of the hypergraph-boosted Transformer in the graph search process are also analyzed. Comprehensive simulations and empirical measurements regarding industrial internet demonstrate that HyperTrans-CA can effectively explain/understand APPIs. Compared to the state-of-the-art Transformer and ChatGPT3.5 models, HyperTrans-CA improves the prediction accuracy of APPIs mapped to VNFs by 23% and 46%, respectively, while raising the prediction accuracy of VNF locations by 8.6 and 17.3 times. © 2025 IEEE.

Fuzzy utility mining considers high-utility fuzzy itemsets as valuable knowledge by integrating quantities of items, their profits, and meaningful fuzzy terms derived by quantities according to membership functions. In fuzzy utility mining, the utility value of a fuzzy itemset in a transaction will always be greater than or equal to those of its subsets, so the measurement of fuzzy utility is an unfair evaluation method. Therefore, the fuzzy average-utility mining problem was issued in 2020, and three solutions were proposed to solve fuzzy average-utility itemsets as two-phase fuzzy average-utility algorithm (TPFAU), two-phase method with tree-based structure (HFAUIM) and one-phase approach with tree-based structure (FHFAUIM), respectively. The second and third methods decrease the candidates generated compared to the first. However, the sorting strategy for mining steps for the last two approaches is based on the frequencies of items in a database and then inserting items of a transaction into a tree in descending order of their frequencies, thus spending more computing time on deriving the actual fuzzy utility value of itemsets. To overcome the above-mentioned problem, this paper adopts a different sorting strategy with a tree-based structure and then by using it to design an algorithm named IFHFAUIM to mine high fuzzy average-utility itemsets. It reduces the storage of required fuzzy utility values in tree nodes and recovers them through tree traversal. Computational experiments show that the proposed method could make a good trade-off between execution time and memory usage. © 2023 IEEE.

Digital transformation requires new innovative approaches in the design of data exchange and file storage systems. The analysis of the architecture of well-known IT projects and approaches showed that each of them cannot solve one of three problems at the same time: automatic scaling, the absence of a single point of failure, and minimizing the required storage space for files and their backups. The presented architecture of DecStore, a blockchain-based peer-to-peer file storage system, solves these problems simultaneously. It reduces the total amount of disk space required by 25% through the use of erasure coding. Automatic horizontal scaling and the absence of a single point of failure are provided by a load balancer based on algorithms implemented inside the Hyperledger chaincode. DecStore can become a subsystem for secure data exchange for government-to-business and business-to-business systems for state supervision in various areas, including financial and insurance audits. © 2023 IEEE.

Hierarchical networks are frequently encountered in animal groups,gene networks,and artificial engineering systems such as multiple robots,unmanned vehicle systems,smart grids,wind farm networks,and so *** structure of a large directed hierarchical network is often strongly influenced by reverse edges from lower-to higher-level nodes,such as lagging birds’howl in a flock or the opinions of lowerlevel individuals feeding back to higher-level ones in a social *** study reveals that,for most large-scale real hierarchical networks,the majority of the reverse edges do not affect the synchronization process of the entire network;the synchronization process is influenced only by a small part of these reverse edges along specific *** surprisingly,a single effective reverse edge can slow down the synchronization of a huge hierarchical network by over 60%.The effect of such edges depends not on the network size but only on the average in-degree of the involved *** overwhelming majority of active reverse edges turn out to have some kind of“bunching”effect on the information flows of hierarchical networks,which slows down synchronization *** finding refines the current understanding of the role of reverse edges in many natural,social,and engineering hierarchical networks,which might be beneficial for precisely tuning the synchronization rhythms of these *** study also proposes an effective way to attack a hierarchical network by adding a malicious reverse edge to it and provides some guidance for protecting a network by screening out the specific small proportion of vulnerable nodes.

Artificial intelligence (AI) has profoundly changed and will continue to change our lives. AI is being applied in more and more fields and scenarios such as autonomous driving, medical care, media, finance, industrial robots, and internet services. The widespread application of AI and its deep integration with the economy and society have improved efficiency and produced benefits. At the same time, it will inevitably impact the existing social order and raise ethical concerns. Ethical issues, such as privacy leakage, discrimination, unemployment, and security risks, brought about by AI systems have caused great trouble to people. Therefore, AI ethics, which is a field related to the study of ethical issues in AI, has become not only an important research topic in academia, but also an important topic of common concern for individuals, organizations, countries, and society. This article will give a comprehensive overview of this field by summarizing and analyzing the ethical risks and issues raised by AI, ethical guidelines and principles issued by different organizations, approaches for addressing ethical issues in AI, and methods for evaluating the ethics of AI. Additionally, challenges in implementing ethics in AI and some future perspectives are pointed out. We hope our work will provide a systematic and comprehensive overview of AI ethics for researchers and practitioners in this field, especially the beginners of this research discipline. © 2020 IEEE.

Insufficient sleep can produce a multitude of deleterious repercussions on various domains of human ***,the walnut(Juglans mandshurica)confers numerous salutary biological activities pertaining to ***,the sedative and hypnotic capacities of walnut's functional constituents remain *** this investigation,we analyzed the sedative and hypnotic components of the walnut Diaphragma juglandis fructus and innovatively discovered a compound,defined as 3-hydroxy-4-iminobutyric acid(HIBA),which disrupts motor activity and enhances sleep duration by regulating the neurotransmitters(GABA,DA,etc.)within the brain and serum of ***,a metabolomics approach of the serum,basal ganglia,hypothalamus,and hippocampus as well as the gut microbiota was undertaken to unravel the underlying molecular mechanisms of sleep *** data reveal that HIBA can regulate the metabolism of basal ganglia(sphingolipids,acylcarnitines,etc.),possibly in relation to HIBA's influence on the gut microbiome(Muribaculum,Bacteroides,Lactobacillus,etc.).Therefore,we introduce a novel natural product,HIBA,and explicate the modulation of sleep promotion in mice based on the microbiota-gut-brain *** study contributes fresh insights toward natural product-based sleep research.
