In the domain of few-shot learning, where the scarcity of training data poses a significant challenge, this paper introduces an innovative approach. We present a few-shot classification algorithm that utilizes the Two-Stream Frequency Domain Information Network. This algorithm delves deep into the efficacy of training different frequency components of images in the context of few-shot classification. It integrates filtered and enhanced image frequency domain information as supplementary data to be adaptively fused with the original image data, enhancing and augmenting the available information. Experimental results establish that the few-shot classification model, employing the Two-Stream Frequency Domain Information Network, outperforms leading algorithms in the field of few-shot learning. This enhancement is evidenced by an accuracy improvement of 1.06% and 0.93% on the miniImageNet and tiredImageNet datasets, respectively, when compared to the Meta-Baseline, illustrating the efficacy of this specialized approach. © 2023 IEEE.

Extracting buildings from remote sensing images using deep learning techniques is a widely applied and crucial task. Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) adopt hierarchical feature representation, showcasing powerful capabilities in extracting local information but facing challenges in capturing global features. Transformers can address this limitation, but they perform poorly in extracting local features and significantly increase memory requirements and computational complexity. To overcome these challenges, we propose a method for building extraction from remote sensing images called LGDB-Net (Local-Global Dual-Branch Network), employing a dual-branch approach. Firstly, inspired by Swin Transformer, we designed GB-Former(Global Branch-Former) as the backbone network to model global information. We use a linear multi-head self-attention mechanism to reduce time and memory complexity while maintaining a large global receptive field. Additionally, we replace the traditional multi-layer perceptron with a convolution-enhanced multi-layer perceptron to improve channel feature representation, reduce model parameters, and enhance segmentation performance. Secondly, we use multiple Depth-wise Conv3×3 + LN (Layer Normalization) + GeLU (Gaussian Error Linear Unit) modules as the auxiliary branch for local detailed feature extraction. Finally, we adopt a multi-scale feature fusion strategy to integrate feature information from both branches. We conduct a series of experiments on three datasets: WHU, Massachusetts, and Inria. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method not only effectively improves segmentation accuracy with lower building omission and commission rates but also significantly reduces model parameters and computational complexity. © 2024 IEEE.

Opinion target extraction (OTE) or aspect extraction (AE) is a fundamental task in opinion mining that aims to extract the targets (or aspects) on which opinions have been expressed. Recent work focus on cross-domain OTE, which is typically encountered in real-world scenarios, where the testing and training distributions differ. Most methods use domain adversarial neural networks that aim to reduce the domain gap between the labelled source and unlabelled target domains to improve target domain performance. However, this approach only aligns feature distributions and does not account for class-wise feature alignment, leading to suboptimal results. Semi-supervised learning (SSL) has been explored as a solution, but is limited by the quality of pseudo-labels generated by the model. Inspired by the theoretical foundations in domain adaptation [2], we propose a new SSL approach that opts for selecting target samples whose model output from a domain-specific teacher and student network disagree on the unlabelled target data, in an effort to boost the target domain performance. Extensive experiments on benchmark cross-domain OTE datasets show that this approach is effective and performs consistently well in settings with large domain shifts. © 2023 ACM.

A Low-Rank Matching Attention Based Cross-Modal Feature Fusion Method for Conversational Emotion Recognition

Conversational emotion recognition (CER) is an important research topic in human-computer interactions. Although recent advancements in transformer-based cross-modal fusion methods have shown promise in CER tasks, they tend to overlook the crucial intra-modal and inter-modal emotional interaction or suffer from high computational complexity. To address this, we introduce a novel and lightweight cross-modal feature fusion method called Low-Rank Matching Attention Method (LMAM). LMAM effectively captures contextual emotional semantic information in conversations while mitigating the quadratic complexity issue caused by the self-attention mechanism. Specifically, by setting a matching weight and calculating inter-modal features attention scores row by row, LMAM requires only one-third of the parameters of self-attention methods. We also employ the low-rank decomposition method on the weights to further reduce the number of parameters in LMAM. As a result, LMAM offers a lightweight model while avoiding overfitting problems caused by a large number of parameters. Moreover, LMAM is able to fully exploit the intra-modal emotional contextual information within each modality and integrates complementary emotional semantic information across modalities by computing and fusing similarities of intra-modal and inter-modal features simultaneously. Experimental results verify the superiority of LMAM compared with other popular cross-modal fusion methods on the premise of being more lightweight. Also, LMAM can be embedded into any existing state-of-the-art CER methods in a plug-and-play manner, and can be applied to other multi-modal recognition tasks, e.g., session recommendation and humour detection, demonstrating its remarkable generalization ability. © 2024 IEEE.

Stable Diffusion (SD) has gained a lot of attention in recent years in the field of Generative ai thus helping in synthesizing medical imaging data with distinct features. The aim is to contribute to the ongoing effort focused on overcoming the limitations of data scarcity and improving the capabilities of ML algorithms for cardiovascular image processing. Therefore, in this study, the possibility of generating synthetic cardiac CTA images was explored by fine-tuning stable diffusion models based on user defined text prompts, using only limited number of CTA images as input. A comprehensive evaluation of the synthetic data was conducted by incorporating both quantitative analysis and qualitative assessment, where a clinician assessed the quality of the generated data. It has been shown that Cardiac CTA images can be successfully generated using using Text to Image (T2I) stable diffusion model. The results demonstrate that the optimized T2I CTA diffusion model successfully render images with features that are typically unique to acute type B aortic dissection (TBAD) medical conditions. © 2024 IEEE.

Cascade index modulation(CIM) is a recently proposed improvement of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing with index modulation(OFDM-IM) and achieves better error *** CIM, at least two different IM operations construct a super IM operation or achieve new functionality. First, we propose a OFDM with generalized CIM(OFDM-GCIM) scheme to achieve a joint IM of subcarrier selection and multiple-mode(MM)permutations by using a multilevel digital ***, two schemes, called double CIM(D-CIM) and multiple-layer CIM(M-CIM), are proposed for secure communication, which combine new IM operation for disrupting the original order of bits and symbols with conventional OFDM-IM, to protect the legitimate users from eavesdropping in the wireless communications. A subcarrier-wise maximum likelihood(ML) detector and a low complexity log-likelihood ratio(LLR) detector are proposed for the legitimate users. A tight upper bound on the bit error rate(BER) of the proposed OFDM-GCIM, D-CIM and MCIM at the legitimate users are derived in closed form by employing the ML criteria detection. computer simulations and numerical results show that the proposed OFDM-GCIM achieves superior error performance than OFDM-IM, and the error performance at the eavesdroppers demonstrates the security of D-CIM and M-CIM.

The scarcity of annotated medical images is a major bottleneck in developing learning models for medical image analysis. Hence, recent studies have focused on pretrained models with fewer annotation requirements that can be fine-tuned for various downstream tasks. However, existing approaches are mainly 3D adaptions of 2D approaches ill-suited for 3D medical imaging data. Motivated by this gap, we propose novel domain-aware multi-task learning tasks to pretrain a 3D Swin Transformer for brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Our method considers the domain knowledge in brain MRI by incorporating brain anatomy and morphology as well as standard pretext tasks adapted for 3D imaging in a contrastive learning setting. We pretrain our model using large-scale brain MRI data of 13,687 samples spanning several large-scale databases. Our method outperforms existing supervised and self-supervised methods in three downstream tasks of Alzheimer’s disease classification, Parkinson’s disease classification, and age prediction tasks. The ablation study of the proposed pretext tasks shows the effectiveness of our pretext tasks. Sleep posture identification is crucial for accurately assessing sleep quality and diagnosing related diseases. In the realm of non-intrusive sleep monitoring, non-contact technologies are becoming increasingly mainstream. Millimeter-wave radar is frequently utilized in sleep posture identification due to its high resolution, strong penetration, and excellent sensitivity. However, traditional radar-based methods for sleep posture identification often struggle with reliability when dealing with diverse individuals and complex sleep environments. To address these challenges, we propose UniSleepPos, which designs a novel dual-view fusion mechanism to integrate depression and elevation angle signals obtained from radar, thus accurately capturing the posture information of the monitored subject in three-dimensional space. Furthermore, we combine sleep posture identification with individual characteristics, utilizing existing individual labels as prior knowledge to assist in sleep posture identification. The integration of prior knowledge provides a valuable information source for the model, helping to enhance its understanding of the data and improve its performance. We collected sleep posture data from eight volunteers using millimeter-wave radar devices under various environmental conditions. Leave-one-subject-out experiments were conducted to validate the effectiveness of UniSleepPos. The results indicated that UniSleepPos significantly outperforms existing methods, demonstrating its potential for practical applications. © 2024 IEEE.
