In this paper, the classification of colon cancer tissues by means of machine learning approaches is evaluated. In today's world, a revolutionary advancement has come in the classification and diagnosis of diseases in the medical and healthcare sectors. Deep learning classifiers and machine learning methods are now broadly applied to accurately diagnose a number of diseases. Cancer is one of the world's most significant roots of death, appealing to the lives of one person out of every six. As per the national library of medicine, the third leading cause of death worldwide is colorectal cancer. Identifying an illness at a premature stage increases the chances of survival. Automated diagnosis and the classification of tissues from images can be completed much more quickly with the use of artificial intelligence. A publicly available IoT dataset CRC-VAL-HE-7K consisting of 7180 images, distributed among nine types of colorectal tissues: background, lymphocytes, adipose, mucus, colorectal adenocarcinoma epithelium, normal colon mucosa, debris, cancer-associated stroma, and, smooth muscle is used after preprocessing. Feature extraction is done by applying Differential-Box-Count on all blocks of images. The dataset is evaluated by these Machine Learning (ML) procedures: K-Nearest Neighbor, Support Vector Machine, Decision Tree, Random Forest, Extreme Gradient Boosting, and Gaussian Naive Bayes. Results show that the performance of Extreme Gradient Boosting is the best and most viable approach.. © 2023 IEEE.

Solar insecticidal lamps(SIL) can effectively control pests and reduce the use of pesticides. Combining SIL and Internet of Things(IoT) has formed a new type of agricultural IoT,known as SIL-IoT, which can improve the effectiveness of migratory phototropic pest control. However, since the SIL is connected to the Internet, it is vulnerable to various security *** issues can lead to serious consequences, such as tampering with the parameters of SIL, illegally starting and stopping SIL,etc. In this paper, we describe the overall security requirements of SIL-IoT and present an extensive survey of security and privacy solutions for SIL-IoT. We investigate the background and logical architecture of SIL-IoT, discuss SIL-IoT security scenarios, and analyze potential attacks. Starting from the security requirements of SIL-IoT we divide them into six categories, namely privacy, authentication, confidentiality, access control, availability,and integrity. Next, we describe the SIL-IoT privacy and security solutions, as well as the blockchain-based solutions. Based on the current survey, we finally discuss the challenges and future research directions of SIL-IoT.

Existing distantly supervised relation extractors usually rely on noisy data for both model training and evaluation, which may lead to garbage-in-garbage-out systems. To alleviate the problem, we study whether a small clean dataset could help improve the quality of distantly supervised models. We show that besides getting a more convincing evaluation of models, a small clean dataset also helps us to build more robust denoising models. Specifically, we propose a new criterion for clean instance selection based on influence functions. It collects sample-level evidence for recognizing good instances (which is more informative than loss-level evidence). We also propose a teacher-student mechanism for controlling purity of intermediate results when bootstrapping the clean set. The whole approach is model-agnostic and demonstrates strong performances on both denoising real (NYT) and synthetic noisy datasets. © 2022 Proceedings - International Conference on Computational Linguistics, COLING. Neuronal morphology is essential for studying brain functioning and understanding neurodegenerative disorders. As acquiring real-world morphology data is expensive, computational approaches for morphology generation have been studied. Traditional methods heavily rely on expert-set rules and parameter tuning, making it difficult to generalize across different types of morphologies. Recently, MorphVAE was introduced as the sole learning-based method, but its generated morphologies lack plausibility, i.e., they do not appear realistic enough and most of the generated samples are topologically invalid. To fill this gap, this paper proposes MorphGrower, which mimicks the neuron natural growth mechanism for generation. Specifically, MorphGrower generates morphologies layer by layer, with each subsequent layer conditioned on the previously generated structure. During each layer generation, MorphGrower utilizes a pair of sibling branches as the basic generation block and generates branch pairs synchronously. This approach ensures topological validity and allows for fine-grained generation, thereby enhancing the realism of the final generated morphologies. Results on four real-world datasets demonstrate that MorphGrower outperforms MorphVAE by a notable margin. Importantly, the electrophysiological response simulation demonstrates the plausibility of our generated samples from a neuroscience perspective. The current study of cell architecture of inflammation in histopathology images commonly performed for diagnosis and research purposes excludes a lot of information available on the biopsy slide. In autoimmune diseases, major outstanding research questions remain regarding which cell types participate in inflammation at the tissue level, and how they interact with each other. While these questions can be partially answered using traditional methods, artificial intelligence approaches for segmentation and classification provide a much more efficient method to understand the architecture of inflammation in autoimmune disease, holding a great promise for novel insights. In this paper, we empirically develop deep learning approaches that uses dermatomyositis biopsies of human tissue to detect and identify inflammatory cells. Our approach improves classification performance by 26% and segmentation performance by 5%. We also propose a novel post-processing autoencoder architecture that improves segmentation performance by an additional 3%. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

The aim of multi-exposure fusion (MEF) is to generate a high-dynamic-range-like image from images captured by common cameras under different exposure settings. The existing generative adversarial network (GAN)-based MEF methods have achieved fair performance. However, when addressing extremely exposed images, these existing GAN-based MEF methods still face numerous limitations, such as detail loss and unnatural visual effects, partly due to their inability to sufficiently aggregate multiscale context information. To address these limitations, we propose a cross-scale bilevel aggregation-based conditional generative adversarial network (CBA-cGAN). The generator contains two subnetworks: a cross-scale aggregation GhostNetV2 (CSA-GhostNetV2) for capturing and integrating multiscale context information with long-range dependencies and a U-shaped local network (ULN) for extracting local features. To fully aggregate short-range and multiscale long- range dependencies, we propose the use of bilevel aggregation in CSA-GhostNetV2: intrablock and interblock aggregation. The intrablock aggregation scheme based on dilated convolution and GhostBlockV2 is designed to aggregate multiscale context information and long-range relationships. The interblock aggregation scheme is designed to balance local and global contextual information during the fusion process by combining features acquired from CSA-GhostNetV2 and the ULN. Additionally, to better align the visual effect with human perception, we take the average of the input images for the discriminator. We compare the performance of the proposed method with that of traditional and deep learning methods on two publicly available datasets in terms of six objective metrics. Extensive experiments are conducted to demonstrate that the proposed CBA-cGAN outperforms the existing state-of-the-art methods in retaining local details while preserving overall visual effects. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerla

The processes of sowing and fertiliser application represent a significant aspect of agricultural production. In order to achieve efficient and precise seeding and fertiliser application, mass flow detection of seed and fertiliser particles can facilitate real-time monitoring and precise decision-making for intelligent seeding and fertiliser application. However, the diversity of seed and fertiliser particle types and particle flow modes presents a challenge for existing detection methods, particularly in meeting the varying operational requirements, especially for particle mass flow detection in low-altitude and high-speed sowing operations of agricultural drones. In such cases, the overlap and flow rate will have a significant impact on the detection results due to the large displacement and the continuous high-throughput dense phase of the particle flow. This paper provides a summary of the existing seed and fertiliser particle mass flow detection techniques and their underlying working principles. It compares the direct detection based on mass with the indirect detection methods based on velocity and concentration, and analyses their respective advantages, disadvantages and applicability. It also explores the possibility of optimising the existing detection methods for the specific needs of agricultural UAVs and considers the potential introduction of cutting-edge science and technology in order to develop an efficient, accurate and convenient detection system to meet the growing market demand. © (2025), (INMA Bucharest). There is a growing concern about adversarial attacks against automatic speech recognition (ASR) systems. Although research into targeted universal adversarial examples (AEs) has progressed, current methods are constrained by inefficient exploitation of audio features, demonstrating insufficient attack ability and robustness in the physical world. To solve this problem, we propose a phoneme-tailored attack (PTA) to improve the quality of the generated AEs. Specifically, to improve attack ability, we propose a Diverse Audio Composition Enrichment method, which enhances the utilization of audio features through phoneme-level slicing and recombination. To adapt AEs to complex environments, we propose a Natural Noise Pattern Guidance method to align AEs with natural noise patterns to improve their robustness. Experiments show that our method achieves an average accuracy of more than 72.34% and 98% with and without a norm constraint, and also demonstrates excellent performance in terms of generalization across datasets and resilience to MP3 compression. © 2025 IEEE.

This paper studies the problem of language-guided re-flection separation, which aims at addressing the ill-posed reflection separation problem by introducing language de-scriptions to provide layer content. We propose a unified framework to solve this problem, which leverages the cross-attention mechanism with contrastive learning strategies to construct the correspondence between language descriptions and image layers. A gated network design and a ran-domized training strategy are employed to tackle the rec-ognizable layer ambiguity. The effectiveness of the pro-posed method is validated by the significant performance advantage over existing reflection separation methods on both quantitative and qualitative comparisons.

The experiment aims at evaluating how four machine learning algorithms work: Decision Tree, Random Forest, SVM, and Neural Network, in a task, of binary classification. Models were evaluated using comprehensive metrics such as accuracy, precision, recall, F-score and AUC that revealed a good diagnostic performance. Models selected for the experiment and parameters tested on real datasets show steady changes in performance. The Neural Network model remained on top, achieving accuracy, precision, recall, F-score and AUC-ROC of 91.8%, 92.1%, 91.3%, 91.7% and 0.93 respectively. Random Forest displayed a competitive accordance along with the accuracy of 88.6%, precision of 89.2%, recall of 88.7%, and the F-score of 89.0%, and the AUC of 0.91. From the results, Support Vector Machine and Decision Tree models posted lower accuracy, recall, and fscores compared to the Neural Network and Random Forest models in most cases. These reveal the need for the improvement of the suitable machine learning model that comes from specific task needs as well as the consideration of each one of factors including accuracy, interpretability, and computational efficiency. Extensive and development of the model may result in more comprehensive understanding of how the model leads classifying of real-world applications such as medical diagnoses, fraud detection and target marketing. © 2024 IEEE.
