This paper introduces an integrated nuclear pulse generator aimed at simulating authentic radiation detection signals, allowing for the convenient calibration and testing of nuclear instruments without the need for radioactive sources. An innovative method is adopted, generating energy spectrum distributions via Monte Carlo simulation and deriving nuclear pulse waveforms using difference equations. This approach enables real-time computation of particle transport processes on a hardware platform, and generates pulse sequences that closely resemble the statistical characteristics of actual nuclear events. Compared to traditional nuclear signal generators, this new type of generator significantly enhances the flexibility and real-time capabilities of the equipment, as it no longer relies on pre-stored empirical data or simulation software to generate energy spectrum data. As a case for gamma-ray spectrometer detection, the signal waveforms and energy spectrum distributions produced closely match those obtained using a NaI scintillation detector in a lead chamber to detect a Cs-137 source. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

This paper investigates the path-following control problem with obstacle avoidance of autonomous surface vehicles in the presence of actuator faults,uncertainty and external *** surface vehicles inevitably suffer from actuator faults in complex sea environments,which may cause existing obstacle avoidance strategies to *** reduce the influence of actuator faults,an improved artificial potential function is constructed by introducing the lower bound of actuator efficiency *** nonlinear state observer,which only depends on measurable position information of the autonomous surface vehicle,is used to address uncertainties and external *** using a backstepping technique and adaptive mechanism,a path-following control strategy with obstacle avoidance and fault tolerance is designed which can ensure that the tracking errors converge to a small neighborhood of *** with existing results,the proposed control strategy has the capability of obstacle avoidance and fault tolerance ***,the comparison results through simulations are given to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Wind and solar energy inverter-based resources (IBRs) has been employed extensively with the aim of carbon neutrality. Power systems also make extensive use of power electronic converters, leading to interactions between IBRs and with the grid, causing high frequency oscillation (HFO) problems. It damages equipment and jeopardizes the security of the system. To identify HFO components above 100 Hz, this research use Phasor Measurement Unit (PMU) instantaneous value data to determine the HFO associated characteristics. To reduce the influence of spectral leakage and the fence effect, as well as to improve the identification accuracy of the related parameters, this paper adopts the RV self-convolutional window based Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT) and the Hanning double-window based all-phase Fast Fourier Transform (apFFT) hybrid algorithm to identify the HFO modal parameters. We take into account the identification accuracy in complex cases, such as non-nominal frequencies, with noise effects and multiple HFO modes. The simulation results show that the proposed method has high identification bandwidth, accuracy and strong flexibility. © 2024 IEEE.

Speaker recognition is a task of identifying user's individuality from their speech utterances. Most of the text-independent speaker recognition models available directly input the spectrogram into the deep neural network. However, this does not take full advantage of the spectrogram features. In this paper, we propose a frequency attention module (FAM) based on the fact that the frequency axis in the spectrogram is more representative for speaker feature extraction. It aims to assigning higher weights to important frequency bins, and making the network to extract more features to improve speaker recognition performance. Furthermore, FAM is applied on the convolution output in ResBlock of ResNet34 to capture richer features of the speaker. The experimental results under self-attention pooling (SAP) and attentive-statistics pooling (ASP) show that FAM is feasible and effective. Moreover, the extended experimental results on the Free ST Chinese Mandarin Corpus dataset indicate that the proposed FAM (equal error rate (EER) is 1.59%) outperforms the no-attention ResNet34 (EER is 1.97 %) and spatial-CBAM ResNet34 (EER is 1.88%). © 2022 IEEE.

The collaborative overtaking framework presents significant potential for advancing road traffic safety and operational efficiency in intelligent transportation systems. By enabling instantaneous communication among roadway infrastructure, proximate vehicles, and other traffic entities, the framework facilitates the seamless exchange of critical information. Recognized for its superior performance, it is poised to play a pivotal role in the evolution of next-generation Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), particularly with the proliferation of 5G communication technologies. This paper examines fundamental challenges associated with the modeling, computation, and analysis of Gaussian-based probability density functions and conflict potential fields, applying these methodologies to coordinated overtaking systems. Specifically, a Gaussian-based conflict potential field model is introduced alongside a risk assessment methodology designed to enhance overtaking safety by evaluating collision risks through vehicle-to-vehicle communication. Empirical experiments further substantiate the efficacy of the proposed approach, demonstrating notable performance improvements under dynamic and unpredictable driving conditions. © 2024 IEEE.

The first principles are utilized to calculate the phase transition, phonon spectra, thermodynamic properties, and elasticity of PuO2 under varying pressures. Under the compression condition, the anticipated pressure of phase transition from Fm-3m to Pnma is 26.0 GPa, from Pnma to Cmcm is 112.9 GPa, and from Cmcm to I4/mmm phase is 588.0 GPa. And under tensile conditions, the phase transition pressure of anticipating from Fm-3m phase to P42/mnm and Pnnm phase occur at -8.6 GPa and -8.5 GPa. The phonon spectra of these six structures show that all phases are dynamically stable under the selected pressure. Meanwhile, the verification results of the mechanical stability criterion show that Fm-3m, Pnma, Cmcm and I4/mmm of PuO2 are mechanically stable, nevertheless P42/mnm and Pnnm are unstable in high pressure. The thermodynamic properties were then calculated to further research the patterns of variation in the coefficient of thermal expansion, bulk modulus, Gibbs free energy, and heat capacity with temperature, and these were compared with experimental data. © 2024, The Authors. SoftCast transmission achieves a linear video quality transition commensurate with the wireless channel conditions, allowing it to avoid the cliff effect, unlike the digital video transmission system. When adopting SoftCast for three-dimensional video transmission, several issues arise. 1) Optimally allocate the power budget to texture and depth to minimize transmission distortion. 2) Select the appropriate number of texture and depth chunks to meet the bandwidth constraints. 3) Reduce the 3D video computation complexity. This paper aims to optimally solve the joint power and bandwidth allocation with low complexity. We derive a closed-form based on the power-distortion optimization problem to estimate the optimal power allocation ratio between the texture and depth map. Then to adapt to the bandwidth constraints. We first set the available bandwidth to be shared equally between texture and depth, this joint bandwidth allocation technique reduces the complexity, and to improve the overall 3D video quality, the joint power allocation is estimated at different bandwidth constraints. With low complexity, the proposed method achieves a graceful video quality transition with the improvement of channel conditions under bandwidth constraints and better performance than its counterpart default fixed-ratio power allocation between texture and depth. © 2022 IEEE.

This paper studies the distributed path-following time-varying formation control problem for a fleet of under-actuated unmanned surface vehicles (USVs) with collision avoidance and connectivity preservation. A finite-time-prescribed performance-based (FTPP) formation control scheme is proposed based on the error transformation. To provide transient and steady-state performance specifications on velocity errors, including convergence time and range, a finite-time performance function (FTPF) is introduced in the control design. Radial basis function neural network (RBF) is utilized to compensate the effects of uncertain dynamics in USVs. Finally, by Lyapunov stability analysis, it is shown that all error signals of the closed-loop system are uniformly ultimately bounded. Simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed formation control scheme. © 2024 IEEE.
