In general, public or private organizations or companies have used information-based technology as a support to improve business performance to be more effective and efficient in order to achieve a company's business goals. Given the large contribution of information technology in the application of hotel applications as a supporting information system, it is a vital system that must avoid risks that can hinder and cause harm to the hotel management business processes. Therefore, it is necessary to carry out risk management using the COBIT 5 framework to manage possible risks that may occur based on the APO12 (Manage Risk) domain. From the evaluation results of the data obtained through observation and interviews as well as the calculation of the results of the questionnaire based on 6 APO12 subdomains, the results of the risk management level capability assessment in hotel applications are still at level 3 or have reached the level of established process with the target to be achieved at level 4 resulting in a gap of 1 level. Based on the results obtained, it is necessary to propose recommendations that can be used by hotels in improving the application of information technology risk management so that in the future it can achieve the expected target level so that the APO12 level of capability can increase and become more optimal. © 2023 IEEE.

Cardiovascular disease is one of the dangerous non-communicable disorders or diseases that has become one of the causes of death worldwide. Various studies have been conducted to prevent cardiovascular disease in the world. This study analyzed cardiovascular disease medical record data from the Kaggle public dataset by implementing correlational analysis combined with association rule mining to identify variables that are the predominant cause of cardiovascular disease. Correlational analysis can analyze the interrelationships between variables in a dataset, but not in depth. Association rule mining can identify the interrelationships of variables in the form of frequent item sets, which can be calculated for their support and confidence values. The result of this study is a combination of correlation analysis with association rule mining that can identify predominant variables to cause cardiovascular disease. Artificial intelligence was recently implemented in various fields. One of these applied artificial intelligence systems was the Performance Monitoring System "SiMoniK"for MSMEs. This system was designed through the C4.5 algorithm and the Porat-Rank method. The C4.5 algorithm was applied to classify the MSMEs into three classifications, e.g. the micro enterprise classification, the small enterprise classification, and the medium enterprise classification. Moreover, the Porat-Rank method was also applied to distribute the solving-problem recommendations and to improve the independence of MSMEs. The result of this study was that the C4.5 algorithm could classify the MSME data correctly in the form of an accuracy value of 99.2%. Besides, the Porat-Rank method could also provide recommendations in the form of outstanding quality with an NDCG mean value of 0.87. © 2023 IEEE.

Retinal Blood Vessel Tracking and Diameter Estimation via Gaussian Process With Rider Optimization Algorithm

Retinal blood vessels structure analysis is an important step in the detection of ocular diseases such as diabetic retinopathy and retinopathy of prematurity. Accurate tracking and estimation of retinal blood vessels in terms of their diameter remains a major challenge in retinal structure analysis. In this research, we develop a rider-based Gaussian approach for accurate tracking and diameter estimation of retinal blood vessels. The diameter and curvature of the blood vessel are assumed as the Gaussian processes. The features are determined for training the Gaussian process using Radon transform. The kernel hyperparameter of Gaussian processes is optimized using Rider Optimization Algorithm for evaluating the direction of the vessel. Multiple Gaussian processes are used for detecting the bifurcations and the difference in the prediction direction is quantified. The performance of the proposed Rider-based Gaussian process is evaluated with mean and standard deviation. Our method achieved high performance with the standard deviation of 0.2499 and mean average of 0.0147, which outperformed the state-of-the-art method by 6.32%. Although the proposed model outperformed the state-of-the-art method in normal blood vessels, in future research, one can include tortuous blood vessels of different retinopathy patients, which would be more challenging due to large angle variations. We used Rider-based Gaussian process for tracking blood vessels to obtain the diameter of retinal blood vessels, and the method performed well on the 'STrutred Analysis of the REtina (STARE) Database' accessed on Oct. 2020 (https://***/~ahoover/stare/). To the best of our knowledge, this experiment is one of the most recent analysis using this type of algorithm. © 2013 IEEE.

The fusion of technology and culinary exploration has allowed for the emergence of advanced online customer service systems. We developed a novel approach to enhance the dining experience. We used a Cuisine Image Recognition and Recommender System (CIRRS) powered by Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) to identify and suggest diverse cuisines based on visual inputs. CIRRS swiftly identified diverse cuisines from user-captured images, offering information on origin, ingredients, and variations by crawling websites. The system enhanced dining experiences by suggesting personalized menus based on individual preferences and past selections. Extensively tested across various culinary genres, CIRRS consistently demonstrated accuracy and adaptability. User feedback validated its potential to simplify dining choices and elevate satisfaction. This innovative system enriched dining experiences as a valuable tool for culinary enthusiasts, chefs, and restaurateurs, bridging the gap between technology and gastronomy, It also offers a unique way to explore Taiwanese cuisines. © 2023 IEEE.

The 'swarm robotics' is a relatively recent field of study that investigates the ways in which several robot systems interact with one another throughout the course of time. The organization is able to accomplish its goals by delegating work to a large number of robots that are capable of doing activities that are beyond the capabilities of a single robot. This is accomplished via the use of a broad variety of different methods. It is possible to make use of optimization algorithms in robotic swarms in order to discover answers to difficult trans disciplinary challenges that are encountered in real-world environments. The fact that algorithms for swarm intelligence are able to adjust to changing circumstances makes the potential of this happening a reality. In order to achieve the highest possible level of performance, this study analyses a broad range of different swarm optimization algorithms that may be used to robotic swarm scenarios. This category contains a variety of methodologies, including PSO, GPSO, CSO, ACO, and GSO, among others. Within this section, a comprehensive analysis is provided for each of the strategies that came before it, and an inquiry into the potential future course of action for swarm optimization is furthermore carried out. The ramifications of these tactics are also discussed in this section, which is included in the overall debate. © 2024 IEEE.

In this study, we use the CIMulator platform to evaluate the performance of neuromorphic accelerators with novel Hf0.5Zr0.5O2 (HZO) ferroelectric fin field-effect transistor (FefinFET) as synaptic device. The MNIST handwritten digit dataset is used for training and inference processes in multilayer perceptron (MLP) neural networks. With the highly optimized synaptic device, the results demonstrate high training and inference accuracy, achieving up to 97% for the MLP, approaching the accuracy of software implementations. © 2024 IEEE.

In gene expression analysis, understanding a biological event that is observed at some time instance often requires capturing genes whose expression levels modulate before and after the event. Such genes are expected to be the responders to the event and will exhibit similar expression patterns during the event. However, after the effect of the event fades, their expression levels may loose their correlation. Hence, it is a non-trivial task to identify genes that share highly similar local expression patterns nearby the event and also allowing some level of divergent expression patterns further away from the event's time point. Here, we propose LOCOS (LOcal COSine), a novel time-course clustering algorithm tailored to cluster genes exhibiting similar expression patterns within a specified time interval. LOCOS is an extension of the traditional Non-negative Matrix Factorization (NMF), which incorporates the cosine similarity and Euclidean distances in its update procedure. LOCOS maximizes the cosine similarity within an interval of interest, while allowing a relaxed minimization of Euclidean distance outside it. Using synthetic and non-biological time-course data, we showed that LOCOS was able to correctly detect the known local patterns within a specified interval. Furthermore, we used longitudinal single-cell RNA-seq samples from four patients showing deteriorating and recovering health conditions to identify genes related to each of the phenotype. As a result, LOCOS was able to capture gene clusters with distinct expression patterns that aligned with the intervals embedding the clinical deterioration and recovery events. © 2024 IEEE.

Electrodermal activity (EDA) is a general term for all electrical phenomena occurring on the skin, both passive and active. EDA measurements are used by researchers to measure levels of stress, emotion, mental strain, and so on. Measuring human stress levels, emotions, and mental strain are generally associated with the skin conductance response. The function GSR sensor is not only used to read people's psychology but also can be used as a pain sensor used to read the degree of pain in the skin. This pilot study uses sample data from ***. The *** data is galvanic skin response sensor data. The output of this sensor is the conductivity value that occurs in the skin. The data obtained from *** will be extracted using the mean, standard deviation, maximum, minimum, RMS, skewness, and peak-to-peak characteristics. The extracted functions are selected using the forward selection method. The results of the feature selection are three features with an accuracy percentage greater than 50%, namely the mean feature, the RMS feature, and the skewness feature. The machine learning models used are bagged tree, SVM, and K-NN models. Of the three models used, the bagged tree model has the highest accuracy rate, at 98.05%, with an F1 score is 0.9807. The KNN model with k=10 has the lowest level of accuracy compared to other models, at 96.75%. © 2023 IEEE.

Purpose: Foot and ankle pathologies are among the most prevalent conditions within the human locomotor system. Imaging examinations are crucial for diagnosing, treating, and achieving satisfactory functional outcomes for these conditions. However, conventional imaging exams often fail to capture all the necessary details for precise analysis, necessitating the use of multiple imaging modalities to evaluate bones, ligaments, cartilage, and other structures. Objective: This research aims to explore computational technologies and algorithms for 3D reconstruction and fusion of foot and ankle images, alongside the analysis, segmentation, classification, and evaluation techniques applied to these images. Methods: The study investigates different computational approaches for 3D reconstruction and multimodal image fusion, integrating X-ray and MRI data. Advanced segmentation and classification techniques are applied to enhance the precision of structural assessment. Additionally, we assess the availability and quality of databases for training and validating these models. Results: Our findings highlight a significant gap in research concerning these specific applications, as well as a shortage of suitable databases for 3D reconstruction and fusion of images from X-rays and MRI. Conclusion: The study emphasizes the need for dedicated datasets and further research to develop effective computational solutions for multimodal foot and ankle imaging. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to The Brazilian Society of Biomedical engineering 2025.
