A substantial number of people are presently making use of decentralised cryptocurrencies that are built on blockchain technology. These crypto currencies have garnered a lot of interest over the course of the last few years and are currently being used by their users. Being the first use of blockchain technology, Bitcoin has been a resounding success, which drives further research and improvement in the sector concerned with blockchain technology. Bitcoin was the first usage of blockchain technology. Bitcoin, on the other hand, is susceptible to significant performance issues due to the fact that it has a high transaction latency and a limited throughput. The operations of the cryptocurrency are considerably impacted as a result of these concerns. As a result of the fact that other cryptocurrencies that rely on proof-of-work also carry over its deficiencies, there has been an increase in the number of concerns about the scalability of blockchain technology. The fact that this is the case makes scaling blockchain technology more challenging. All during the course of this investigation, an effort is made to analyse and classify the various scaling mechanisms that are now being used for blockchains. In addition to this, we are going to look at a variety of various approaches and present a list of possible solutions to the issue of scalability that the blockchain technology is now dealing. © 2024 IEEE.

A future networking design called "software-defined networking"combines network programmability with centralized administration (SDN). Network administration is currently handled by SDN, which, at the regulator, which acts as the cable network processor and divides the data plane into a control plane and a data aircraft. Recent breakthroughs in artificial intelligence (Al) have shown a stronger inclination for the science community to benefit from their ability to give learning capabilities and enhance Indicator. The author of this research provides a comprehensive analysis of initiatives underway to incorporate Al with SDN. The study concluded that the three primary Al thread where scientific research was centered were computer science, conceptual, and fuzzy reasoning systems. The authors of this paper explore the several fields in which these approaches may be used, their potential future applications, and the innovations made possible by the integration of AI-based methods into the SDN paradigm. By choosing the right SDN controller, any large organization may lower network complexity, implementation expenses, and maintenance costs. The focus of this article is software defined networking's benefits and downsides (SDN). Following is a basic explanation of artificial intelligence and a list of some of its most significant applications in SDN. © 2023 IEEE.

As data shift or new data become available, updating clinical machine learning models may be necessary to maintain or improve performance over time. However, updating a model can introduce compatibility issues when the behavior of the updated model does not align with user expectations, resulting in poor user-model team performance. Existing compatibility measures depend on model decision thresholds, limiting their applicability in settings where models are used to generate rankings based on estimated risk. To address this limitation, we propose a novel rank-based compatibility measure, CR, and a new loss function that aims to optimize discriminative performance while encouraging good compatibility. Applied to a case study in mortality risk stratification leveraging data from MIMIC, our approach yields more compatible models while maintaining discriminative performance compared to existing model selection techniques, with an increase in CR of 0.019 (95% confidence interval: 0.005, 0.035). Every patient has health record, it was written as statement of patient's conditions, treatments, and medications, and nowadays it is become digitalized, it can be copied and shared easily, but the nature of EHR is private, not for public, private between patients and healthcare provider. Privacy preserving can be done by implementing Blockchain network for storing EHR, only authorized users or nodes can access and write data to the network. New block in blockchain created as per consensus among nodes, every node can join a blockchain network if it is public, to meet a consensus required resources intensive cryptographic challenge, in private blockchain, only selected can join and involved in the network or specific transaction. In healthcare, data privacy is the main concerned, need a secure, scalable, and efficient blockchain hence implementing consortium blockchain is perfect match for EHR where multiple healthcare provider can operate in a single platform to conduct transaction or sharing EHR among members. This study analyzes 15 articles derived from IEEE Explore, science Direct and Scopus by implementing screening with keyword Consortium Blockchain and EHR and proposing new blockchain model accommodating solution for challenges on access, storage, sharing, privacy, and performance. © 2022 IEEE.

Hypertension is a noncommunicable disease (NCD) that causes global concern, high costs and a high number of deaths. Internet of Things, Ubiquitous Computing, and Cloud Computing enable the development of systems for remote and real-time monitoring of patients affected with NCDs like hypertension. This paper reports on a system for monitoring hypertension patients that was built by employing these techniques. This system allows the vital signs of a patient (blood pressure, heart rate, body temperature) to be captured via sensors built in a wearable device similar to a wristwatch. These signals are transmitted to the patient's mobile device for processing, and the generated clinical data are sent to the cloud to be properly presented and analysed by the health professionals responsible for the patient. To deal with semantic interoperability issues that arise when multiple different devices and system components must interoperate, a semantic model was conceived for this system in terms of ontologies for diseases and devices. This paper also presents the semantic module that we developed and implemented in the cloud to perform reasoning based on this model, demonstrating the potential benefits of incorporating semantic technologies in our system. This paper proposes a low-cost interface and refined digital twin for the Raven-II surgical robot. Previous simulations of the Raven-II, e.g. via the Asynchronous Multibody Framework (AMBF), presented salient drawbacks, including control inputs inconsistent with Raven-II software, and lack of stable, high-fidelity physical contact simulations. This work bridges both of these gaps, both (1) enabling robust, simulated contact mechanics for dynamic physical interactions with the Raven-II, and (2) developing a universal input format for both simulated and physical platforms. The method furthermore proposes a low cost, commodity game-controller interface for controlling both virtual and real realizations of Raven-II, thus greatly reducing the barrier to access for Raven-II research and collaboration. Overall, this work aims to eliminate the inconsistencies between simulated and real representations of the Raven-II. Such a development can expand the reach of surgical robotics research. Namely, providing end-to-end transparency between the simulated AMBF and physical Raven-II platforms enables a software testbed previously unavailable, e.g. for training real surgeons, for creating digital synthetic datasets, or for prototyping novel architectures like shared control strategies. Experiments validate this transparency by comparing joint trajectories between digital twin and physical testbed given identical inputs. This work may be extended and incorporated into recent efforts in developing modular or common software infrastructures for both simulation and control of real robotic devices, such as the Collaborative Robotics Toolkit (CRTK).

Deep learning model for pleural effusion detection via active learning and pseudo-labeling: a multisite study

Background: The study aimed to develop and validate a deep learning-based computer Aided Triage (CADt) algorithm for detecting pleural effusion in chest radiographs using an active learning (AL) framework. This is aimed at addressing the critical need for a clinical grade algorithm that can timely diagnose pleural effusion, which affects approximately 1.5 million people annually in the United States. Methods: In this multisite study, 10,599 chest radiographs from 2006 to 2018 were retrospectively collected from an institution in Taiwan to train the deep learning algorithm. The AL framework utilized significantly reduced the need for expert annotations. For external validation, the algorithm was tested on a multisite dataset of 600 chest radiographs from 22 clinical sites in the United States and Taiwan, which were annotated by three U.S. board-certified radiologists. Results: The CADt algorithm demonstrated high effectiveness in identifying pleural effusion, achieving a sensitivity of 0.95 (95% CI: [0.92, 0.97]) and a specificity of 0.97 (95% CI: [0.95, 0.99]). The area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) was 0.97 (95% DeLong’s CI: [0.95, 0.99]). Subgroup analyses showed that the algorithm maintained robust performance across various demographics and clinical settings. Conclusion: This study presents a novel approach in developing clinical grade CADt solutions for the diagnosis of pleural effusion. The AL-based CADt algorithm not only achieved high accuracy in detecting pleural effusion but also significantly reduced the workload required for clinical experts in annotating medical data. This method enhances the feasibility of employing advanced technological solutions for prompt and accurate diagnosis in medical settings. © The Author(s) 2024.

Education about health sciences has historically been limited in the curriculum of health professionals and largely inaccessible to the public. In practice, most of the health science education is still running conventionally. Supposedly with the advancement of technology and the use of the internet everywhere, learning such as e-learning can be important, especially in the health sector. Until this research was conducted, only 514 academic documents about e-learning in health sciences were found for 20 years from 2001 to 2020, obtained in searching on the Scopus database. This study presents a comprehensive overview of studies related to E-learning in the Health sciences sector. This study uses bibliometric analysis and indexed digital methods to map scientific publications throughout the world. This research employs the Scopus database to gather information, as well as the Scopus online analysis tool and Vosviewer to show the bibliometric network. The method consists with five stages: determining search keywords, initial search results, refinement of search results, initial compilation, and data analysis. Among the most published and indexed articles by Scopus, papers published by researchers in the United States have the highest number of publications (80), followed by United Kingdom (63) and Australia with 45 academic publications. The processed data shows the pattern and trend of increasing the number of international publications in E-learning in Health sciences field, which Scopus index. © 2022 Elsevier B.V.. The amount of data processed in the cloud, the development of Internet-of-Things (IoT) applications, and growing data privacy concerns force the transition from cloud-based to edge-based processing. Limited energy and computational resources on edge push the transition from traditional von Neumann architectures to In-memory Computing (IMC), especially for machine learning and neural network applications. Network compression techniques are applied to implement a neural network on limited hardware resources. Quantization is one of the most efficient network compression techniques allowing to reduce the memory footprint, latency, and energy consumption. This paper provides a comprehensive review of IMC-based Quantized Neural Networks (QNN) and links software-based quantization approaches to IMC hardware implementation. Moreover, open challenges, QNN design requirements, recommendations, and perspectives along with an IMC-based QNN hardware roadmap are provided. © 2023, CC BY.

This study introduces the system submitted to the SemEval 2022 Task 11: MultiCoNER (Multilingual Complex Named Entity Recognition) by the UC3M-PUCPR team. We proposed an ensemble of transformer-based models for entity recognition in cross-domain texts. Our deep learning method benefits from the transformer architecture, which adopts the attention mechanism to handle the long-range dependencies of the input text. Also, the ensemble approach for named entity recognition (NER) improved the results over baselines based on individual models on two of the three tracks we participated in. The ensemble model for the code-mixed task achieves an overall performance of 76.36% F1-score, a 2.85 percentage point increase upon our individually best model for this task, XLM-RoBERTa-large (73.51%), outperforming the baseline provided for the shared task by 18.26 points. Our preliminary results suggest that contextualized language models ensembles can, even if modestly, improve the results in extracting information from unstructured data. © 2022 Association for Computational Linguistics.
