According to data from Taiwan’s National Development Council in 2024, Taiwan is expected to enter a super-aged society by 2025, indicating a great acceleration in population aging. With the aging population and the increasing prevalence of chronic diseases, the importance of rehabilitation for the elderly has become crucial. Rehabilitation aims not only to aid in recovering from illness or surgery but also to maintain health in daily life. For the elderly, appropriate rehabilitation exercises can improve physical strength, cardiopulmonary function, and overall quality of life. This not only helps restore physical function but also reduces the occurrence and progression of chronic diseases. The system includes contextual rehabilitation games, general rehabilitation training, accessible remote instruction, and physical fitness assessment. The contextual rehabilitation games utilize gamified interactive designs to enhance engagement and motivation. General rehabilitation training provides standardized guidance on rehabilitation movements. Accessible remote instruction allows patients who are unable to move due to various factors to receive professional guidance in hospitals or care centers, reducing the inconvenience of movement. Finally, physical fitness assessment provides accurate data support for medical personnel, while also reducing manual calculation errors and labor costs. Through this comprehensive assistive system, smart healthcare can not only improve the effectiveness and efficiency of rehabilitation but also provide a new approach for health management and rehabilitation of the elderly, helping to address the challenges brought by an aging society in the future.

Sentiment analysis and emotion classification are two crucial components of natural language processing (NLP), which have been widely explored in recent years due to their broad applications. Sentiment analysis aims to identify the polarity of written texts, ranging from positive to negative. Meanwhile, emotion classification is focused on recognizing and categorizing the emotional states expressed in the text. To achieve a deeper understanding of sentiments and emotions, it's essential to utilize models like BERT transformers that can effectively interpret the context. The process begins with data preprocessing, including tokenization and noise removal, followed by fine-tuning techniques to adapt the BERT model to the proposed tasks. We employed the BERT model on four datasets obtained from various sources, including Twitter, news websites, and restaurant reviews, where each dataset represents a distinct Arabic dialect. Our proposed model outperforms commonly used techniques like LSTM and CNN, yielding superior results. Despite the progress made, there are still challenges to overcome, such as dealing with Arabic diacritics, the new Arabic Arabizi, which uses Latin characters, and handling Arabic idioms. Further research is required to address these challenges adequately.

The Plasmodium parasite, which causes malaria, is an acute fever illness that infects people when a female Anopheles mosquito bites them. It is predicted that malaria would claim 619,000 lives in 2021, with 96% of those deaths occurring in the African continent. We can achieve this by using a microscope to examine thick and thin blood smears. The proficiency of a microscope examiner is crucial for doing microscopic examinations. Consider how time-consuming, ineffective, and costly it would be to examine thousands of malaria cases. Consequently, Creating an automated method for detecting malaria parasites is the aim of this study. We employ a MobileNetV2 pretrained model with CNN technology. Because it has been trained on dozens or even millions of data points, this pretrained model is incredibly light but dependable. There are two main benefits of automatic malaria parasite detection: firstly, it can offer a more accurate diagnosis, particularly in locations with limited resources; secondly, it lowers diagnostic expenses. The optimizer utilizes Adam Weight, the criteria uses NLLLoss, and the model is trained using 32 for batch_size. In the fourteenth epoch, we obtained the maximum accuracy score of 96.26% based on the training data. The outcomes of the predictions demonstrate how excellent this score is. EfficienceNet, DenseNet, AlexNet, and other pretrained models are among the alternatives that scientists are advised to try training with.

This article proposes an intelligent platform for monitoring students' steps on their way to school until they leave the school to their homes. This platform can identify students and notify those responsible and competent authorities in various situations of school life, such as: entering and leaving the school bus, entering and leaving school, entering the school cafeteria, etc. The first application aims to control access to the school bus through facial recognition. In the tests carried out, the recognition system achieved excellent results in all metrics. © 2023 IEEE.

Modular Self-Lock Origami: design, modeling, and simulation to improve the performance of a rotational joint

Origami structures have been widely explored in robotics due to their many potential advantages. Origami robots can be very compact, as well as cheap and efficient to produce. In particular, they can be constructed in a flat format using modern manufacturing techniques. Rotational motion is essential for robotics, and a variety of origami rotational joints have been proposed in the literature. However, few of these are even approximately flat-foldable. One potential enabler of flat origami rotational joints is the inclusion of lightweight pneumatic pouches which actuate the origami’s folds;however, pouch actuators only enable a relatively small amount of rotational displacement. The previously proposed Four-Vertex Origami is a flat-foldable structure which provides an angular multiplier for a pouch actuator, but suffers from a degenerate state. This paper presents a novel rigid origami, the Self-Lock Origami, which eliminates this degeneracy by slightly relaxing the assumption of flat-foldability. This joint is analysed in terms of a trade-off between the angular multiplier and the mechanical advantage. Furthermore, the Self-Lock Origami is a modular joint which can be connected to similar or different joints to produce complex movements for various applications;three different manipulator designs are introduced as a proof of concept. Researchers emphasize the importance of hardware accelerators for mathematical morphology. If there are any issues, the hardware architecture may need to be redesigned. Thus, we propose a novel, reconfigurable hardware architecture with pipeline techniques for acceleration. With the order control register, there is no need to modify the architecture even if different results are expected. Furthermore, the hardware architecture caters to specific purposes instead of requiring a purpose-built hardware design.

Attacks on web applications are constantly growing in both frequency and severity. Abundant data on the internet stimulates hackers to attempt different types of cyberattacks. Attack detection using conventional approaches and outdated data processing techniques has become outmoded as a result of this development. The purpose of this study is to investigate IoT attacks and discuss the efficient ML technique implementation strategies for restricting security risks. Among different security techniques, Machine learning (ML) systems demonstrated commendable feasibility in improving network and device security for the Internet of Things. The study with contextual research recognises and comprehends that modified 'Support Vector Machine (SVM)' as well as 'Random Forest (RF)' ML techniques showed optimal performance in IoT attack detection and prevention. © 2023 IEEE.

In this paper, we propose a novel method for plane clustering specialized in cluttered scenes using an RGB-D camera and validate its effectiveness through robot grasping experiments. Unlike existing methods, which focus on large- scale indoor structures, our approach—Multi-Object RANSAC emphasizes cluttered environments that contain a wide range of objects with different scales. It enhances plane segmentation by generating subplanes in Deep Plane Clustering (DPC) module, which are then merged with the final planes by postprocessing. DPC rearranges the point cloud by voting layers to make subplane clusters, trained in a self-supervised manner using pseudo-labels generated from RANSAC. Multi-Object RANSAC demonstrates superior plane instance segmentation performances over other recent RANSAC applications. We conducted an experiment on robot suction-based grasping, comparing our method with vision-based grasping network and RANSAC applications. The results from this real-world scenario showed its remarkable performance surpassing the baseline methods, highlighting its potential for advanced scene understanding and manipulation.

In recent years, riding a motorcycle has become one of the most convenient ways for consumers to go to their destination. Helmets are very important and necessary for the safety of motorcyclists, however, officers find it difficult to enforce the laws regarding the wearing of authorized helmets. This system was established to determine whether or not a helmet is allowed. The authorized helmet for riders is the full-face helmet. This vision-based system could aid in identifying riders who are wearing helmets that aren't fitting properly. The system used the YOLOv3 model and a deep learning approach to use the helmet detection model in this work. As a result, the model with the best training received an mAP of 97%. This proposed device may be used on busy routes to monitor motorcyclists to see if they are wearing an authorized helmet. © 2022 IEEE.

The current study used cutting-edge techniques to experimentally test the early diagnosis of diabetes via retinal scans. The goal was to enable effective disease prediction and management by facilitating quick and precise medical diagnostics. Three processes were involved in the development of a Diabetic Retinopathy (DR) diagnosis tool: feature extraction, feature reduction, and image classification. The research employed Apache Spark, a distributed computing framework, to manage large datasets and enhance the performance of the multilayer perceptron (MLP) model via hyperparameter tuning and cross validation. Utilizing resources more effectively and achieving faster training times were made possible by Apache Spark. To support data-driven decision-making, the study also emphasized the significance of distributed platforms for analyzing large amounts of real-time diabetic data. To produce discriminative features for classification, the VGG16 architecture was employed for feature extraction. In the last epoch, the MLP model performed remarkably well, with an accuracy of 97%. The study also underlined the value of distributed platforms for data-driven decision-making by analyzing substantial volumes of real-time diabetes data.
