FaLa: feature-augmented location-aware transformer network for graph representation learning

Data augmentation is a technique that improves the ability of neural networks to make accurate predictions by increasing the size of the training dataset. However, it is still uncertain how to properly use data augmentation on graph data in order to boost the performance of graph neural networks (GNNs). While the majority of current graph regularizers primarily concentrate on modifying the topological structures of graphs by adding or deleting nodes and edges, we propose a technique to augment node and edge features in order to improve efficiency. More precisely, we use cosine similarity to perform cross-functions on the existing features. This allows us to generate new graph features, such as node and edge attributes, as well as new graph structures. We then merge these new features together to provide specific pairs of inputs for graph transformer networks. We next propose feature-augmented location-aware transformer (FaLa) networks that generalize well across several graph learning problems by combining the positional and structural encoding of nodes. Additionally, in order to avoid collecting duplicate data from other features, we apply a disparity restriction during training on these latent node embeddings. Experimental findings across eleven real-world datasets demonstrate that our methodology enhances node classification accuracy by a significant margin of 2.8% to 22.7%, link prediction by 1.6% to 8.5%, and graph classification by 7.0% to 39.8% compared to the state-of-the-art graph convolutional network (GCN) and graph transformer (GT) models. Wearable devices for arrhythmia diagnosis are battery-powered and require improved power efficiency. In our previous study, we applied approximate computing, which is effective for power reduction, to QRS identification algorithm and achieved significant power reduction. However, the impact of this approximation on arrhythmia detection and classification was not fully investigated. In this study, we investigate how the approximation - - specifically, the use of two approximate multipliers and eight approximate squarers applied to the Pan-Tompkins algorithm - - affects RR interval-based arrhythmia detection and classification. We use 48 samples from the MIT-BIH Arrhythmia Database to evaluate the accuracy of arrhythmia detection and classification. It was found that the approximate multiplier mul16s_GQU is the best choice, achieving nearly 100% accuracy and less than 1 % false negatives in abnormal/normal classification. Additionally, the most power-efficient approximate squarer, E10C1, achieves relatively high accuracy with less than 5 % false negatives. © 2024 IEEE.

Reducing power consumption in battery-powered medical edge devices is highly required. This study aims to enhancing power efficiency in the Pan-Tompkins algorithm used for electrocardiogram (ECG) feature detection by adopting approximate computing. This paper specifically focuses on the squaring step within the algorithm, investigating eight alternative approaches to replace the multiplier with a dedicated squarer. We evaluate power and area reduction rates, as well as the feature detection accuracy of the proposed approximate squarers. The best candidate achieves a 99.40% power reduction and a 99.47% area reduction while maintaining a 99.67% detection accuracy. © 2024 ACM.

Strain modified nano-scale Ge/Ge0.98Sn0.02 exotic pin photo-sensor array for IR sensing: theoretical reliability and experimental feasibility studies

In this paper, the superiority of Ge/Ge0.98Sn0.02asymmetrical supper lattice structure based vertically doped nano-scale pin photo-sensor under operating wavelength of 1200 nm to 2200 nm is reported. The authors have developed non-linear Strain Modified Quantum-Corrected Drift–Diffusion (SMQCDD) model for analyzing the electrical and optical characteristics of the photo-sensor. The inclusion of a small amount of Sn (2%) into the pure Ge material creates in-plane bi-axial strain in the intrinsic region (i-region) of the device. This results in increases in the value of the out-plane mobility of the charge particles. As a result, the overall performance of the photo-sensor enhances significantly. The authors have used in-plane induced bi-axial strain to accelerate the out-plane mobility of the charge particles by incorporation of the exotic asymmetrical supper lattice structure in the i-region of the photo-sensor. The validation of the non-linear SMQCDD model is performed through comparison of the simulated data obtained from SMQCDD model with the experimental results under a-like thermal/structural/electrical conditions. Additionally, the authors have designed 3X2 array of photo-sensors and studied the photo-electrical characteristics at the said operating wavelength. The proposed device offers better performance in terms of quantum efficiency (0.619: single-type photo-sensor;0.708: array-type photo) and photo-responsivity (0.056 A/W: single-type photo-sensor;0.808 A/W:for array-type photo-sensor)at 1600 nm wavelength compared to its conventional flat Si counterpart. The developed exotic pin photo-sensor can be used as a sensing device for applications in optical communication and bio-medical systems. As far as the authors are aware, this is the first report on nano-scale Ge/Ge0.98Sn0.02exotic pin photo-sensor. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024.

Utilization of Two Cross Two Switch for Bitonic Sorting Circuit

Background: The synthesis of reversible logic has gained prominence as a crucial research area, particularly in the context of post-CMOS computing devices, notably quantum computing. Objective: To implement the bitonic sorting circuit, 2x2 switch, is used. The overarching objective of implementing a reversible sorting circuit is to mitigate power consumption while promising secure communication. The successful implementation of the bitonic sorting circuit utilizing the proposed 2x2 switch is validated through simulations conducted in IBM Qiskit. Methods: This study begins by employing the control swap gate to implement a 2x2 switch, aimed at enabling concurrent computing operations within multiprocessor systems to enhance throughput. Subsequently, following the successful implementation of the 2x2 switch, the study proceeds to design a bitonic sorting circuit. Results: Bitonic sort using a 2x2 switch on the IBM Quantum Experience (IBMQ) platform via the QISKit SDK in Python 3.6. Specifically, Qiskit v0.29.0 is utilized, with OpenQASM. OpenQASM serves as the quantum assembly and instruction language. Conclusion: This work presents a methodology for constructing a 2x2 switch, utilizing a reversible control swap gate as its core component. Additionally, it demonstrates the intricate development and implementation of a bitonic sorting circuit, capitalizing on this innovative switch architecture. © 2025 Bentham science Publishers.

By integrating smart grid technology with home energy management systems, households can monitor and optimise their energy consumption. This allows for more efficient use of energy resources, reducing waste and lowering energy bills. In this manuscript, a hybrid approach is proposed for smart grid home energy management with microgrids and day-ahead energy forecasts. The proposed control approach combines the Circle Search (CS) algorithm and Recalling-Enhanced Recurrent Neural Network (RERNN). Commonly it is named as CS-RERNN technique. The novelty of this paper is to optimise energy consumption and production within microgrids, thereby contributing to the overall efficiency of the smart grid system. The proposed method is used to reduce the electricity cost, peak-to-average ratio (PAR), and maximising consumer comfort. Energy management is performed based on the CS algorithm. A smart home connected to the external power grid (PG) is managed by the proposed method. Here, load demand is predicted by using RERNN. By then, the performance of the proposed method is implemented in MATLAB platform. The proposed method shows a high efficiency of 96%, and 22 $ of low electricity bill cost compared with other existing methods such as Particle swarm optimisation (PSO), Cuckoo search algorithm (CSA, and Border collie Optimisation (BCO). ©, Engineers Australia.

Fake news, Fake certification, and Plagiarism are the most common issues arising these days. During this COVID-19 situation, there are a lot of rumors and fake news spreading and some of us are using fake certification to avoid vaccination and plagiarism became the most common topic during online studies. It is found that several apps and websites are present for the detection of false news and plagiarism. However, there is no single website for the detection of fake certificates. Moreover, nothing is made that consists of all these features in one platform. So, this proposed work develops a website for detecting fake news, Fake certificate, and plagiarism detector. The proposed method uses Natural Language Processing techniques for detecting NPC (news, plagiarism, and certificate). The proposed work uses image processing with some Python libraries like OpenCV in all the detections and that makes it quite interesting. For detecting NPC (news, plagiarism, and certificate) the algorithm is built using a k-mean model, logistic regression, and neural network. The proposed work uses the datasets that are trained using the count vectorizer method for the detection and to get its accuracy which will be tested using machine learning algorithms. The proposed method has shown an accuracy rate of 94.28% on Logistics Regression in comparison to existing methods. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2025.
