Real-Time Detection of Cattle Behavior Using YOLOv9 with AutoAugment and Mixup data Augmentation Techniques

As the number of livestock farms in Korea decreases, the scale of individual farms has grown, necessitating advanced methods for efficient livestock management. Recent studies have increasingly applied computer vision and deep learning to monitor livestock behavior, health, and disease, aiming to enhance productivity and animal welfare. This study introduces a real-time cattle behavior detection system utilizing YOLOv9, a state-of-the-art object detection algorithm known for its high accuracy and efficiency. The YOLOv9-s model, optimized for real-time detection with minimal computational overhead, was employed. To further enhance detection accuracy, we incorporated AutoAugment, a data augmentation technique that automatically selects the optimal augmentation policies, and mixup, a method that improves model generalization by creating new training samples through linear interpolation of existing ones. The application of AutoAugment improved the mean Average Precision (mAP) from 0.926 to 0.941, while the addition of mixup raised the mAP to 0.947, representing a 2.1% performance increase. Poverty is still a global problem that must be immediately eradicated by Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 1, namely ending poverty anywhere and in any form. In 2021, West Papua province will have the 2nd most significant percentage of poor people after Papua province, with 21.84% of the poor population. Poor households in West Papua province are dominated by families, with the Head of Household (KRT) working in the agricultural sector at 65.10 %. In this research, joint modelling was carried out between the level of household welfare and the employment sector of the head of the household in the West Papua province. It is suspected that these two variables have endogeneity problems, where one of the response variables becomes a predictor variable in the other equation, so a recursive bivariate binary probit regression model is used. Recursive bivariate binary probit regression parameter estimation uses Maximum Likelihood Estimation (MLE), but the results are not closed form, so it is continued using the Newton-Raphson iteration method. The results of hypothesis testing show that partially, variables that significantly influence the level of household welfare include the variable marital status, KRT formal/informal workers, health complaints, asset ownership status, migration status, number of household members, classification of area of residence (Village/City), age of head of household, and employment sector of head of household. Meanwhile, variables that significantly influence the choice of working in the agricultural sector include the director of household education, classification of area of residence (rural/city), and the age of the head of household. © (2024), (International Association of Engineers). The use of technology and information devices contributes to global warming. This issue has also become a concern for UN institutions, as stated in international environmental agreements, which aim to stabilize greenhouse gas emissions in the atmosphere at a level that prevents anthropogenic and dangerous disturbances to the environmental system. This research uses a line of code derived from the tanjak dataset, a student project from 2003 to 2020, numbering 500. This research aims to apply energy consumption efficiency to reduce CO2 emissions produced using computer devices, especially in developing software. The approach used in this research is clean code, which can provide benefits in the form of a line of code that is easy to read, understand, test, and maintain so that it can create savings in energy use. In the test, the line of code used was 1,072,089, producing an energy of 82,152.18 Joules, minus the line of code comments, which was 76,750, producing an energy of 2,971.25 Joules. Initial research results show that the clean code approach can be used to save energy usage, with the result of the line of code used being 995,339 and producing 79,180 Joules of energy, so it can affect reducing CO2 emissions when implementing software development. © 2024 IEEE.

Preventive strategies should be the utmost priority when dealing with diverse patients suffering from malignant ventricular arrhythmia (MVA) that can lead to sudden cardiac death (SCD). Electrocardiogram (ECG) data is commonly used as a predictor for MVA predictive models. In this study, all ECG signals from MIT-BIH databases were fragmented into five-minute durations with a frequency sampling of 128 Hz. To solve the absence of hybrid optimizations in Machine Learning (ML) models, a novel Variational Quantum Neural Network (VQNN) was invented. Empowered by deep learning capabilities and optimized quantum circuits design, VQNN achieved remarkable performances designated by an accuracy of up to 95.1%, a perfect 100% recall, and a 95.2% score of the area under the Receiver Operating Characteristic curve (AUC ROC) with Conjugate Gradient as an optimizer and EfficientSU2 as a quantum ansatz. Despite the susceptibility to quantum noise, this research settles a new trajectory of utilizing quantum variational algorithms to predict and expand its applicability for MVA cases. © 2024 The Authors.

In contemporary society, pets are increasingly regarded as integral family members, contributing significantly to human quality of life. The growing prevalence of dog ownership has concurrently escalated the economic burden associated with veterinary care, particularly in managing common conditions like skin diseases. This study introduces an advanced deep learning-based diagnostic system for canine skin diseases, designed for practical application in home environments. We employed RandAugment to enhance data augmentation, thereby increasing the diversity of the training dataset. Furthermore, the implementation of Patterned-GridMask significantly improved the model's generalization capabilities. The use of the AdamW optimization algorithm was instrumental in mitigating overfitting, thus enhancing the model's overall learning efficiency. The proposed Transformer-based model, ViT/B-16, achieved an accuracy of 78.65% with the original dataset. With the integration of RandAugment and Patterned-GridMask techniques, the model's accuracy improved to 84.33%, underscoring its potential effectiveness for practical veterinary applications. In modern society, the number of households raising pets is increasing. As pet ownership increases, the cost of treating companion cats is also rising, with a significant portion of these costs going toward the treatment of skin diseases. Skin diseases are among the common ailments in pets, and swift action is required if they occur in cats. However, early lesions lack distinctive characteristics, making accurate diagnosis difficult. Therefore, this study proposes a CADx(Computer-Aided Diagnosis) system that classifies images of cat skin conditions into inflammatory lesions, non-inflammatory lesions, and normal images using a dataset of cat skin diseases. We selected the ConvNeXt model, based on CNN, which can learn regional information and features. To learn various patterns of skin lesions, we applied Mixup, an image augmentation technique. When Mixup was applied, the model accuracy was 0.8679, showing a 3.35% improvement compared to the original dataset. Additionally, Lookahead Optimizer was applied to ensure stable learning of Mixup. When both Mixup and Lookahead Optimizer were applied, the model accuracy was 0.8741, showing a high improvement of 3.97% compared to the original dataset. Therefore, the Lookahead Optimizer helps with the stable training of mixup, which can improve the performance of the model. Copyright © The Korean Institute of Electrical Engineers.

Skin diseases in companion cats can worsen if not treated promptly, and this can increase the financial burden on pet owners. To prevent this, early and accurate diagnosis is essential. This study introduces a deep learning-based Computer-Aided Diagnosis (CADx) system designed to classify cat skin diseases into non-inflammatory and inflammatory lesions by comparing them with normal images. The system employs the EfficientNetV2 model and incorporates image augmentation techniques like AutoAugment and AugMix to enhance classification performance. The study results indicate that the developed model achieved an 84.68% accuracy for non-inflammatory lesions, reflecting a 10.06% improvement, and a 97.19% accuracy for inflammatory lesions, reflecting a 2.45% improvement. Furthermore, we applied Grad-CAM to visualize the regions of interest in the images, offering veterinarians critical insights into the location and characteristics of the lesions. This system has the potential to significantly improve the precision of diagnosing skin diseases in companion cats, thereby supporting better veterinary care. Deep features based convolutional neural network to detect and automatic classification of white blood cells

White blood cells (WBCs) play an important role in the human body's immune system and it widely presented in the human body. Recently, the incidence of blood diseases related to WBC increases in the human body. In the research application, optimal WBC is a popular field for the diagnosis of blood disease, the optimal WBC count gives useful information. The Deep Features Based Convolutional Neural Network (DFCNN) is created in this research to detect the count of WBC and automated categorization using CNN from the picture database. With three phases, the proposed method working are feature extraction, feature selection, and classification phases. In the extraction phase, the Combined CNN structure is designed which is a combination of AlexNet, GoogLeNet, and ResNet-50 respectively. The combined CNN architecture is utilized to extract 3000 essential features from the image database. In the feature selection phase, the hybrid Mayfly Algorithm with Particle Swarm Optimization (HMA-PSO) is designed for selecting the essential feature from the feature sets. In the HMA-PSO algorithm, with the help of PSO algorithm, the velocity updating of the mayfly is achieved. The proposed classifier named Recurrent Neural Network-Long Short-Term Memory (RNN-LSTM), collects the selected features. This classifier is utilized to classify the WBC types such as Neutrophils, Eosinophils, Monocytes, and Lymphocytes respectively. The proposed method is implemented in the platform of MATLAB and performances are evaluated by statistical measurements such as precision, recall, specificity, accuracy, and F_Measure. Low back pain is a leading cause of disability globally, is often associated with degenerative lumbar spine conditions. Accurate diagnosis of these conditions is critical but challenging due to the subjective nature of MRI interpretation and the weak correlation between imaging findings and symptoms. Thus, the purpose of this study is to evaluate the performance of CNN-based architectures (VGG-16, EfficientNetB0, EfficientNetV2) and transformer-based architecture specifically Vision Transformers (ViT) in classifying lumbar spine conditions as normal, moderate, or severe. Using the RSNA 2024 Lumbar Spine Degenerative Classification dataset. The models are evaluated using the ROC-AUC and PRAUC as the performance metrics due to the dataset imbalance. Results indicate that EfficientNetB0 achieved the highest overall performance, with an average ROC-AUC of 0.784 and PR-AUC of 0.528, demonstrating strong adaptability to imbalanced datasets. EfficientNetV2 also performed competitively, while VGG-16 showed moderate effectiveness. The Vision Transformer (ViT), however, underperformed due to its reliance on larger datasets and challenges in capturing fine-grained spatial features. The findings highlight the potential of EfficientNet-based models for accurate and efficient lumbar spine diagnostics. This study underscores the potential of advanced deep learning approaches in improving diagnostic workflows for degenerative lumbar spine conditions. © 2025 IEEE.

This study investigates the challenges and opportunities of managing educational funds and controlling operational costs in two educational systems. It examines how factors such as school infrastructure, technology integration, teacher professional development, and parental involvement influence educational funding and quality. This study also explores the importance of equitable and efficient fund allocation, especially for remote schools that face resource constraints and development gaps. To analyze the financial trends of educational fund management, this study applies three machine learning models: decision trees, random forests, and support vector machines. The results show that the random forest model has the highest overall accuracy (90%) and the decision tree model has perfect accuracy in classifying institutions based on local income. This study identifies the most relevant features and demonstrates the effectiveness of the models in categorizing institutions and evaluating the fund management performance in the education sector. © 2024 IEEE.
