Event data is present in a variety of domains such as electronic health records, daily living activities and web clickstream records. Current visualization methods to explore event data focus on discovering sequential patterns but present limitations when studying time attributes in event sequences. Time attributes are especially important when studying waiting times or lengths of visit in patient flow analysis. We propose a visual analytics methodology that allows the identification of trends and outliers in respect of duration and time of occurrence in event sequences. The proposed method presents event data using a single Sequential and Time Patterns overview. User-driven alignment by multiple events, sorting by sequence similarity and a novel visual encoding of events allows the comparison of time trends across and within sequences. The proposed visualization allows the derivation of findings that otherwise could not be obtained using traditional visualizations. The proposed methodology has been applied to a real-world dataset provided by Sheffield teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, for which four classes of conclusions were derived.

The development of robotic systems with a certain level of autonomy to be used in critical scenarios, such as an operating room, necessarily requires a seamless integration of multiple state-of-the-art technologies. In this paper we propose a cognitive robotic architecture that is able to help an operator accomplish a specific task. The architecture integrates an action recognition module to understand the scene, a supervisory control to make decisions, and a model predictive control to plan collision-free trajectory for the robotic arm taking into account obstacles and model uncertainty. The proposed approach has been validated on a simplified scenario involving only a da VinciO surgical robot and a novel manipulator holding standard laparoscopic tools.

The path we are currently following to improve the physics of construction due to the destruction of our environment through the negative impact of the built environment around us. Current efforts to decrease carbon and energy are noted by modifying and improving modern 'layered' envelopes and improving a misunderstanding of thermal comfort that has become much less effective than expected. Understanding construction physics is an important factor in improving the quality of life indoor and outdoor, relying primarily on theoretical and computational aspects, then applying the practical part to reduce excessive use of carbon and energy and hinder the elaboration of a sustainable and built environment. This paper shows how the problem stems from neglecting to think about the first principles and basic construction physics. Similarly, we show how combining good construction physics with reassessing old methodologies to construction and structure use provides some powerful and effective tools to address the climate emergency. The use of construction physics methods supports the search for new solutions to express the most important factors affecting thermal conduction and minimum surface temperatures. However, buildings have integrated concepts in which advanced systems work together to optimize energy, comfort, and health performance. Convergence between various engineering fields and the overlapping field of construction techniques and services has great potential in the future to achieve the next step in energy saving. As a result, the research highlights new methods that make our buildings interact with the external environment using climate data, responsive envelope design, simulation software, thereby achieving architectural response to surrounding variables, improving building physics to reduce environmental pollution, thermal comfort, and achieving the highest energy efficiency and performance in buildings. Optimization-Based Fragmental Transmission Method for Video Data in Opportunistic Networks

Multimedia data have become popularly transmitted content in opportunistic networks. A large amount of video data easily leads to a low delivery ratio. Breaking up these big data into small pieces or fragments is a reasonable option. The size of the fragments is critical to transmission efficiency and should be adaptable to the communication capability of a network. We propose a novel communication capacity calculation model of opportunistic network based on the classical random direction mobile model, define the restrain facts model of overhead, and present an optimal fragment size algorithm. We also design and evaluate the methods and algorithms with video data fragments disseminated in a simulated environment. Experiment results verified the effectiveness of the network capability and the optimal fragment methods.

We analyze certain aspects of the group-theoretical approach to Bell inequalities proposed by Güney and Hillery. The general procedure for constructing the relevant group orbits is described. Using Hall theorem we determine the form of Bell inequality in the single-orbit case. It is shown that in this case the Bell inequality is not violated for a maximally entangled state generating trivial subrepresentation if the representation under consideration is real.

The Global Wheat Head Detection(GWHD)dataset was created in 2020 and has assembled 193,634 labelled wheat heads from 4700 RGB images acquired from various acquisition platforms and 7 countries/*** an associated competition hosted in Kaggle,GWHD_2020 has successfully attracted attention from both the computer vision and agricultural science *** this first experience,a few avenues for improvements have been identified regarding data size,head diversity,and label *** address these issues,the 2020 dataset has been reexamined,relabeled,and complemented by adding 1722 images from 5 additional countries,allowing for 81,553 additional wheat *** now release in 2021 a new version of the Global Wheat Head Detection dataset,which is bigger,more diverse,and less noisy than the GWHD_2020 version.

On the path to exascale the landscape of computer device architectures and corresponding programming models has become much more diverse. While various low-level performance portable programming models are available, support at the application level lacks behind. To address this issue, we present the performance portable block-structured adaptive mesh refinement (AMR) framework PARTHENON, derived from the well-tested and widely used ATHENA++ astrophysical magnetohydrodynamics code, but generalized to serve as the foundation for a variety of downstream multi-physics codes. PARTHENON adopts the KOKKOS programming model, and provides various levels of abstractions from multi-dimensional variables, to packages defining and separating components, to launching of parallel compute kernels. PARTHENON allocates all data in device memory to reduce data movement, supports the logical packing of variables and mesh blocks to reduce kernel launch overhead, and employs one-sided, asynchronous MPI calls to reduce communication overhead in multi-node simulations. Using a hydrodynamics miniapp, we demonstrate weak and strong scaling on various architectures including AMD and NVIDIA GPUs, Intel and AMD x86 CPUs, IBM Power9 CPUs, as well as Fujitsu A64FX CPUs. At the largest scale on Frontier (the first TOP500 exascale machine), the miniapp reaches a total of 1.7 × 1013 zone-cycles/s on 9,216 nodes (73,728 logical GPUs) at ≈ 92% weak scaling parallel efficiency (starting from a single node). In combination with being an open, collaborative project, this makes PARTHENON an ideal framework to target exascale simulations in which the downstream developers can focus on their specific application rather than on the complexity of handling massively-parallel, device-accelerated AMR. The aim of this study was to develop scientific methodological approaches for training Russian troops in information security. We deal with problems related to the fundamentals of information security of the troops of the Russian Federation’s National Guard. A literature analysis was conducted to understand the importance of training troops in information security in the world community. The results of the initial pedagogical experiment on the level of training that officers receive in information security are presented. The development of graduates’ military professional competencies is ensured by obtaining a body of expertise, knowledge, and skills to guide units in a modern combined-arms battle in an armed conflict using Information and Communication Technologies (ITC). © 2018 Taylor & Francis Group, London.
