Many human reliability analysis (HRA) methods have been developed to evaluate the reliability of Main control Room (MCR) of Nuclear Power Plants (NPP). Performance Shaping Factors (PSFs) were used in most of them to depict the contextual factors with the combination of different dimension, and to qualitatively and quantitatively evaluate the human reliability. The correlations among PSFs were one of the most important challenges for the improvement of HRA analysis quality, while most of existing HRA methods consider PSFs independently. Based on the analysis of some of the existing HRA methods and literature review of published research in this field, this paper presents a report on techniques for identifying the correlations among PSFs and some insights for future research on revealing their actual correlations. © 2023 by JSME.

In this Letter,a homemade bismuth-doped germane silica fiber(BGSF)with a high gain coefficient is *** on this fiber,a single-frequency fiber laser(SFFL)operating at 1440 nm is successfully realized.A ring cavity with a short BGSF of 10 m and two cascaded sub-ring cavities ensures the single-longitudinal-mode(SLM)*** maximum SLM laser output power of about 6 mW is obtained with the optical signal-to-noise ratio(OSNR)of more than 75 *** linewidth of the stable SLM laser is about 745 Hz,measured by the delayed self-heterodyne *** the best of our knowledge,this is the first SFFL operating at 1440 nm based on the bismuth-doped fiber(BDF),demonstrating the great potential of BDF in expanding the operating band of SFFL.

Temporal-guided Mixture-of-Experts for Zero-Shot Video Question Answering

Video Question Answering (VideoQA) is a challenging task in the vision-language field. Due to the time-consuming and labor-intensive labeling process of the question-answer pairs, fully supervised methods are no longer suitable for the current increasing demand for data. This has led to the rise of zero-shot VideoQA, and some works propose to adapt large language models (LLMs) to assist zero-shot learning. Despite recent progress, the inadequacy of LLMs in comprehending temporal information in videos and the neglect of temporal differences, e.g., the different dynamic changes between scenes or objects, remain insufficiently addressed by existing attempts in zero-shot VideoQA. In light of these challenges, a novel Temporal-guided Mixture-of-Experts Network (T-MoENet) for zero-shot video question answering is proposed in this paper. Specifically, we apply a temporal module to imbue language models with the capacity to perceive temporal information. Then a temporal-guided mixture-of-experts module is proposed to further learn the temporal differences presented in different videos. It enables the model to effectively improve the capacity of generalization. Our proposed method achieves state-of-the-art performance on multiple zero-shot VideoQA benchmarks, notably improving accuracy by 5.6% on TGIF-FrameQA and 2.3% on MSRVTT-QA while remaining competitive with other methods in the fully supervised setting. Cataract surgery is a complex procedure requiring precise execution of multiple steps. To improve the accuracy and efficiency of cataract surgeries, we present a semantic segmentation model for cataract surgery scenes. Our model leverages Unsupervised Domain Adaptation (UDA) techniques to enhance segmentation performance in clinical surgical environments, addressing challenges such as domain shift, occlusions between surgical tools and tissues, and long tail problem. The model utilizes a Teacher-Student model, where a student model is trained in the target domain with pseudo-labels generated by an Exponential Moving Average (EMA) teacher model, ensuring robust learning across domains. Additionally, we utilize a Masked Image Consistency (MIC) module to improve the model’s understanding of occluded regions by enforcing consistency between masked and unmasked predictions. To mitigate class imbalance between anatomical structures and surgical tools, we employ a maximum squares loss, enabling the model to achieve balanced learning. Our results demonstrate that the proposed model improves segmentation accuracy and robustness in cataract surgery scenarios. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

In the wet semiconductor process, abrasive nanoparticles are widely used in the chemical mechanical polishing (CMP) process to polish wafer surfaces for high planarization. During polishing, nanoparticles move with a high-speed three-dimensional (3D) position in the solution. In the 3D particles's moving positions, Z is a perpendicular longitudinal distance between the surface to the nanoparticle that plays a significant role in polishing, which could not be measured by general microscopy without longitudinal scanning. To understand nanoparticle phenomena near-surface, we have proposed and developed the apparatus with real-time fastmotion tracking on optical multi-wavelength evanescent fields microscopy to measure the 3D motion of the nanoparticle in water without scanning. In euspen's 2020, we could verify the relative distance ?Z of nanoparticles in water, but the absolute distance Z is unknown yet. In this manuscript, we have therefore developed an invisible nano-step height in water to verify the absolute height Z of an individual nanoparticle. The invisible nano-step height in water is made from an optical resin with a refractive index of 1.35 that is close to a refractive index of water to avoid unnecessary light during experimental verification. The nano-step height was less than 100 nm on a glass surface, fabricated using nanoimprint lithography. Polystyrene f100 nm standard particles in water were used to verify the height Z. The results of height Z of nanoparticles could be measured less than 100 nm with the measurement uncertainty ±10 nm (2s), which is related to the interferometer result of the nano-step height. © European Society for Precision engineering and Nanotechnology, Conference Proceedings - 22nd International Conference and Exhibition, EUSPEN 2022. EVENODD+ codes are binary maximum distance separable (MDS) array codes for correcting double disk failures in RAID-6 with asymptotically optimal encoding/decoding/update complexities. However, the number of bits stored in each disk of EVENODD+ codes should be an odd number minus one. In this paper, we present a new construction of EVENODD+ codes that have more flexible parameters. The number of bits stored in each disk of our codes is an odd minus one times any positive integer. Moreover, our codes not only have asymptotically optimal encoding/decoding/update complexities but also have lower encoding/decoding/update complexities than the existing EVENODD+ codes.

Grant-free access (GFA) has been envisioned to play an active role in massive Machine Type Communication (mMTC) under 5G and Beyond mobile systems, which targets at achieving significant reduction of signaling overhead and access latency in the presence of sporadic traffic and small-size data. The paper focuses on a novel K-repetition GFA (K-GFA) scheme by incorporating Reed-Solomon (RS) code with the contention resolution diversity slotted ALOHA (CRDSA), aiming to achieve high-reliability and low-latency access in the presence of massive uncoordinated MTC devices (MTCDs). We firstly defines a MAC layer transmission structure at each MTCD for supporting message-level RS coding on a data message of Q packets, where a RS code of KQ packets is generated and sent in a super time frame (STF) that is composed of Q time frames. The access point (AP) can recover the original Q packets of the data message if at least Q out of the KQ packets of the RS code are successfully received. The AP buffers the received MTCD signals of each resource block (RB) within an STF and exercises the CRDSA based multi-user detection (MUD) by exploring signal-level inter-RB correlation via iterative interference cancellation (IIC). With the proposed CRDSA based K-GFA scheme, we provide the complexity analysis, and derive a closed-form analytical model on the access probability for each MTCD as well as its simplified approximate form. Extensive numerical experiments are conducted to validate its effectiveness on the proposed CRDSA based K-GFA scheme and gain deep understanding on its performance regarding various key operational parameters. Sparse Code Multiple Access (SCMA) is a promising code-based multiple access technique for achieving higher spectral efficiency and massive connectivity that is crucially required in the B5G applications such as massive machine-type communication (mMTC). Traditional SCMA receivers use Maximum Likelihood (ML) and Message Passing Algorithm (MPA) for signal decoding, which nonetheless suffer from extremely high computational complexity. To resolve the issue, we propose to use Graph Neural Networks (GNN) to replace MPA for decoding, aiming at reducing the decoding complexity while maintaining satisfactory Bit Error Rate (BER) performance. Simulation results show that our proposed solution can achieve much higher decoding accuracy and faster decoding speed.
