Flexible job shop scheduling problem(FJSP)is the core decision-making problem of intelligent manufacturing production *** Harris hawk optimization(HHO)algorithm,as a typical metaheuristic algorithm,has been widely employed to solve scheduling ***,HHO suffers from premature convergence when solving NP-hard ***,this paper proposes an improved HHO algorithm(GNHHO)to solve the *** introduces an elitism strategy,a chaotic mechanism,a nonlinear escaping energy update strategy,and a Gaussian random walk strategy to prevent premature convergence.A flexible job shop scheduling model is constructed,and the static and dynamic FJSP is investigated to minimize the *** paper chooses a two-segment encoding mode based on the job and the machine of the *** verify the effectiveness of GNHHO,this study tests it in 23 benchmark functions,10 standard job shop scheduling problems(JSPs),and 5 standard ***,this study collects data from an agricultural company and uses the GNHHO algorithm to optimize the company’s *** optimized scheduling scheme demonstrates significant improvements in makespan,with an advancement of 28.16%for static scheduling and 35.63%for dynamic ***,it achieves an average increase of 21.50%in the on-time order delivery *** results demonstrate that the performance of the GNHHO algorithm in solving FJSP is superior to some existing algorithms.

The evolving landscape of decision-making, especially in complex scenarios, poses a challenge in accurately capturing decision-makers’ cognitive information. This challenge becomes even more intricate in group decision-making situations due to the diverse cognitive perspectives of the participants. In response to these complexities, this study delves into the realm of dual probabilistic linguistic 2-tuple sets, an extension of dual-hesitant fuzzy sets known for their effectiveness in handling perplexing data. Dual probabilistic linguistic 2-tuple sets introduces a nuanced approach, considering multiple linguistic memberships, non-membership degrees, and their associated probabilistic and deviation information. We have devised diverse mechanisms aimed at augmenting the comprehension and utilization of dual probabilistic linguistic 2-tuple sets. These mechanisms encompass transformation functions, scoring methodologies and accuracy metrics. In this study, we introduce two aggregation operators for dual probabilistic linguistic 2-tuple sets based on prioritized averaging and Maclaurin symmetric mean principles. These operators serve as the cornerstone for a pioneering hybrid approach meticulously crafted for multiple criteria decision making within the framework of dual probabilistic linguistic 2-tuple sets. To demonstrate the practicality and efficacy of our approach, we present a real-world case study. The subsequent analytical comparison and discussion underscore the effectiveness of our methodology. The outcomes of this study not only showcase the excellent performance of our proposed method but also offer valuable practical implications for decision-makers navigating complex and diverse decision environments. Machine-to-machine (M2M) communication plays a fundamental role in autonomous IoT (Internet of Things)-based infrastructure, a vital part of the fourth industrial revolution. Machine-type communication devices(MTCDs) regularly share extensive data without human intervention while making all types of decisions. Thesedecisions may involve controlling sensitive ventilation systems maintaining uniform temperature, live heartbeatmonitoring, and several different alert systems. Many of these devices simultaneously share data to form anautomated system. The data shared between machine-type communication devices (MTCDs) is prone to risk dueto limited computational power, internal memory, and energy capacity. Therefore, securing the data and devicesbecomes challenging due to factors such as dynamic operational environments, remoteness, harsh conditions,and areas where human physical access is difficult. One of the crucial parts of securing MTCDs and data isauthentication, where each devicemust be verified before data transmission. SeveralM2Mauthentication schemeshave been proposed in the literature, however, the literature lacks a comprehensive overview of current M2Mauthentication techniques and the challenges associated with them. To utilize a suitable authentication schemefor specific scenarios, it is important to understand the challenges associated with it. Therefore, this article fillsthis gap by reviewing the state-of-the-art research on authentication schemes in MTCDs specifically concerningapplication categories, security provisions, and performance efficiency.

Sentiment Analysis is a deep text analysis to determine the expressions from the written text, The Urdu language holds significant importance due to the usage of these social media platforms and content generated at these platform in Urdu. Effective sentiment analysis in Urdu can provide valuable information about social trends, customer feedback, and public opinion on different sets of topics in the Urdu context. This study uses an deep learning (ANN) Artificial Neural Network to predict and classify the sentiments in the Urdu language, labeling them into positive, negative, and neutral sentiments. To achieve the research goals, advanced preprocessing techniques were utilized such as removing stop words, emojis, emails, and characters, removing symbols, performing lemmatization to expand the meaning of text, tokenized each word by using Lexicon-based approach and ngram. The dataset are tweets dependent and have 1,140,021 tweets. These steps ensure that data is standardized and cleaned to be split into training and testing. The datasets were converted into sequence and categorized to be input into the ANN model. The ANN model was trained and achieved an accuracy of 90%, precision of 98%, and f1-score of 97%. These high values indicate that the model accurately predicted the sentiments in the Urdu text. However, during experimentation limitations were discovered due to the complexities of Urdu text, difficult script patterns, and linguistic problems that were not solved by the preprocessing technique. During analysis, the limitation was discovered due to the limited number of preprocessing techniques and tools for Urdu text. However, the study highlights the potential of neural networks, especially ANN in Urdu sentiment analysis. This study contributed significantly to Urdu natural language processing by providing robust techniques and identifying limitations to work on it as a research problem. © 2024 IEEE.

The advancements in technology and widespread internet access have revolutionized the way data collection and polling are conducted. Traditional polling methods are often hampered by significant challenges, including high operational costs, limited ability to reach a broad audience, reliance on a large workforce, and the extensive time required for data analysis. These limitations have led to inefficiencies and reduced the effectiveness of traditional approaches. In this paper, we introduce a platform designed to automate the creation of online polls, utilizing a model-driven approach and no-code development platform. This system streamlines the polling process by allowing users to easily design and deploy polls without extensive programming knowledge. The platform also includes built-in functionalities to automatically generate charts and visualizations for data analysis, reducing the need for manual data processing. By simplifying these processes, the platform makes advanced polling tools accessible to non-experts, enabling quicker, more efficient data collection and analysis in a variety of contexts. © 2025 IEEE.

Due to the advantages of privacy-preserving, Federated Learning (FL) is widely used in distributed machine learning systems. However, existing FL methods suffer from low-inference performance caused by data heterogeneity. Specifically, due to heterogeneous data, the optimization directions of different local models vary greatly, making it difficult for the traditional FL method to get a generalized global model that performs well on all clients. As one of the state-of-the-art FL methods, the mutation-based FL method attempts to adopt a stochastic mutation strategy to guide the model training towards a well-generalized area (i.e., flat area in the loss landscape). Specifically, mutation allows the model to shift within the solution space, providing an opportunity to escape areas with poor generalization (i.e., sharp area). However, the stochastic mutation strategy easily results in diverse optimal directions of mutated models, which limits the performance of the existing mutation-based FL method. To achieve higher performance, this paper proposes a novel mutation-based FL approach named FedQP, utilizing a quadratic programming strategy to regulate the mutation directions wisely. By biasing the model mutation towards the direction of gradient update rather than traditional random mutation, FedQP can effectively guide the model to optimize towards a well-generalized area (i.e., flat area). Experiments on multiple well-known datasets show that our quadratic programming-guided mutation strategy effectively improves the inference accuracy of the global model in various heterogeneous data scenarios. © 2024 Knowledge Systems Institute Graduate School. Cold supply chain distribution systems ensure the freshness of temperature-sensitive products during transportation. In this study, we investigated a fresh food company’s cold supply chain distribution. Making fresh food available and achieving quality and safety, requires proper planning of vehicle routing, we addressed a routing problem that simultaneously considers time windows, multiple trips per vehicle, a heterogeneous fleet, parking constraints, unloading time at customer position, and limited duration, minimizing related operational costs. We formulate this problem as a mixed-integer programming model. Since this problem is NP-hard, we also propose a genetic algorithm with two adaptive-parameter mechanisms to solve it within a reasonable computational time. Extensive experiments were conducted to assess the performance of different approaches in a real-world application. The results demonstrate that the algorithms are robust and efficient. The proposed algorithms can reduce operational costs by more than 20% compared to the current practical planning approach. © 2023 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group.

Systematic Review of Machine Learning-Based Open-Source software Maintenance Effort Estimation

Background: software maintenance is known as a laborious activity in the software lifecycle and is often considered more expensive than other activities. Open-Source software (OSS) has gained considerable acceptance in the industry recently, and the Maintenance Effort Estimation (MEE) of such software has emerged as an important research topic. In this context, researchers have conducted a number of open-source software maintenance effort estimation (O-MEE) studies based on statistical as well as machine learning techniques for better estimation. Objective: The objective of this study is to perform a systematic literature review (SLR) to analyze and summarize the empirical evidence of O-MEE ML techniques in current research through a set of five Research Questions (RQs) related to several criteria (e.g. data pre-processing tasks, data mining tasks, tuning parameter methods, accuracy criteria and statistical tests, as well as ML techniques reported in the literature that outperformed). Methods: We performed a systematic literature review of 36 primary empirical studies published from 2000 to June 2020, selected based on an automated search of six digital databases. Results: The findings show that Bayesian networks, decision tree, support vector machines and instance-based reasoning were the ML techniques most used;few studies opted for ensemble or hybrid techniques. Researchers have paid less attention to O-MEE data pre-processing in terms of feature selection, methods that handle missing values and imbalanced datasets, and tuning parameters of ML techniques. Classification data mining is the task most addressed using different accuracy criteria such as Precision, Recall, and Accuracy, as well as Wilcoxon and Mann-Whitney statistical tests. Conclusion: This SLR identifies a number of gaps in the current research and suggests areas for further investigation.
