As the pandemic Covid-19 erupted worldwide in 2020, the entire world rapidly adopted online education as a means of sustaining the education system in universities and schools. However, the majority of students were unfamiliar with these methods, as they were accustomed to traditional classrooms. Some students may prefer online education over traditional education, but online education stress remains a persistent issue. This study investigated the stress encountered by students during online learning sessions. 220 university students participated in this quantitative correlational study. On the basis of 11 items developed and tested using Confirmatory Factor Analysis, a questionnaire consisting of three constructs of online learning stress, financial capacity, and positive perception of online learning was developed and administered. The data were subsequently evaluated using the Structural Model in order to comprehend the relationships between the variables. The model was discovered to have a high level of fitness and validity. Positive perceptions of online learning were discovered to predict student stress negatively. The financial capacity of students to purchase the necessary devices for online learning sessions had no effect on their stress levels. However, financial capacity is the antecedent of how positively students viewed online learning for themselves. This suggests that for online education to be successful, it is crucial to consider the students' perceptions by evaluating their access to all the devices and technologies associated with online learning. © 2023 IEEE.

Due to the widespread nature of sun-related health risks, sophisticated UV monitoring systems are urgently needed. This research study introduces a cloud-based UV monitoring system with the intent of remotely tracking and analyzing UV exposure in real time. The system incorporates a network of UV sensors deployed in various locations, continuously collecting UV radiation data. These sensors are linked to a cloud system, which allows for easy sharing and processing of collected data. As a result, we're working to perfect a cutting-edge device that can monitor vitamin D absorption, measure cumulative UV exposure, and warn of impending danger. Extensive studies have demonstrated the benefits of UV exposure for both general health and protection against the newly discovered coronavirus. However, finding a happy medium is important because too much sun exposure can cause cancer, lupus flares, and cataracts. The proposed model gives users the ability to set their own daily UV exposure limits, taking into account clinically validated thresholds for various skin tones. The developed sensor module is able to measure the UV index with high precision even in bright sunlight because it closely mimics the skin erythema spectrum. © 2023 IEEE.

Due to recent development in different sectors such as industrialization, transportation, and the global economy, air pollution is one of the major issues in the twenty-first century. In this work, we aimed to predict ambient PM2.5 concentration using the prophet forecasting model (PFM) in Anhui Province, China. The data were collected from 68 air quality monitoring stations to forecast both short-term and long-term PM2.5 concentrations. The determination coefficient (R2), root mean squared error (RMSE), and mean absolute error (MAE) were used to determine the accuracy of the model. According to the obtained results, the predicted R, RMSE, and MAE values by PFM for PM2.5 were 0.63, 15.52 μg/m3, and 10.62 μg/m3, respectively. The results indicate that the actual and predicted values were significantly fitted and PFM accurately predict PM2.5 concentration. These findings are supportive and helpful for local bodies and policymakers to deal and mitigate air pollution problems in the future. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

The numbers of people who participate in outdoor activities are increasing;however, it has a certain risk of doing outdoor activities, such as wilderness rescue and losing the force while sailing. Therefore, people performing outdoor activities usually wear relevant safety devices. Currently, most users send emergency alarms through mobile phones;yet, the penetration rate of the fourth generation of broadband cellular network technology (4G Network) is not fully equipped in some rural areas, which causes victims failed to send emergency alarms. This study uses an Automatic Identification System (AIS) to develop a wearable safety device because the transmission range of AIS is wider than other types of systems, and it is easier to prepare essential functions in AIS wearable devices. When a victim presses the panic button, the system will send the alarm with a Global Positioning System (GPS) signal;the system will only detect the GPS location once when pressing the button to reduce power consumption, which avoids additional power consumption while repeating the detection. The research conducted practical experiments and discovered that the method is feasible in real-world applications. © 2020, ICST Institute for Computer Sciences, Social Informatics and Telecommunications Engineering.

Subspace clustering is a fundamental task in machine learning, particularly for high-dimensional datasets where the goal is to group data points that lie in distinct subspaces. Traditional methods, such as Sparse Subspace Clustering (SSC) and Low-Rank Representation (LRR), have demonstrated good performance but often suffer from high computational costs, particularly when applied to large-scale data. To address these limitations, this paper introduces a novel technique called Purity Kernel Tensor Learning (PKTL). PKTL combines the power of tensor decomposition with a purity kernel function to improve both the efficiency and effectiveness of subspace clustering. By utilizing tensor-based representations, the method captures higher-order relationships in the data, allowing for a more robust clustering process. The purity kernel function measures the coherence within the clusters, enhancing the identification of subspaces in complex datasets. The proposed approach not only reduces computational complexity but also improves the clustering accuracy compared to existing methods. Experiments on synthetic and real-world datasets, including ORL, Yale, and MNIST, show that PKTL outperforms conventional subspace clustering algorithms, both in terms of clustering accuracy and scalability. The results demonstrate the potential of PKTL in handling large datasets while maintaining high performance, making it a promising approach for scalable subspace clustering in real-world applications.

Engineering design ability is critical in today’s society due to the vast development of technology. However, the development of it is not easy. The introduction of STEM (Science-technology-Engineering-Math) and the utilization of PBL (Project-based Learning) seem to promise a bright future in the development of such ability. We adopted Atman’s Engineering Design Process to evaluate the progress that students made after learning from a project-based Truss Tower STEM course. Students were grouped in six to design and construct a light-weight water tower type truss structure that can withstand severe earthquake. 137 students participated in this course and took pre-test as well as post-test. Students demonstrated significant progress in Developing Alternative Solutions and Project Realization. However, students did not show significant progress in Problem Scoping. Our research result echoes earlier research that some of engineering abilities might be trainable in classroom while other abilities might need other development methods. © 2020, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

A large-scale sand ridge group is distributed in the central Jiangsu coastal area,and a deposition muddy sea bank was developed in the nearshore *** monitoring of coastline changes is of great significance for tidal beach development and *** shorelines of the central coast of Jiangsu within six periods(1973-2018)were extracted in this study,and their length changes over the years were *** Digital Shoreline Analysis System(DSAS)was employed to generate a cross section perpendicular to the baseline and calculate the linear regression rate(LRR)of the shoreline,changes in end point rate(EPR),and net shoreline movement(NSM),based on which the shoreline change features were *** DSAS results indicated that the shorelines in the study area maintained fluctuating growth and presented a continuous advancing trend towards the *** the changes in shoreline evolution distance during 1973-2018,the advancing shorelines in the study area accounted for over 50%of the total shorelines and presented first rising and then declining trends with the period of 2003-2013 taken as the time *** average shoreline change rate was 207 m/year,and the periods with the highest change degrees were 1983-1993 and *** shoreline change tended to be stable during 2013-2018,and only a few estuaries and ports underwent obvious erosion and sedimentation.

Research Motivation and Objective Article 158 of the Constitution and the J.Y. Interpretation No. 450 (1998) of the University Act interpreted various freedom of teaching and university self-government principles. The Constitution and University Act allow universities to independently decide whether to offer physical education (PE) courses. PE courses must be offered in accordance with relevant laws. A decline in birth rates, university enrollment, university autonomy, and zero-credit courses have led to a reduction in compulsory PE courses. Martins et al. (2020) investigated PE in 54 countries and found that older students are less likely to engage in regular physical activity than younger students, highlighting the importance of maintaining exercise through the implementation of school-based PE courses. The present study examined the current situation and trends in the numbers of PE teachers in colleges in Taiwan following the introduction of Article No. 450. Additionally, laws, regulations, and systems were analyzed and relevant data was compiled to gain insights into trends in college-based PE courses. Literature Review The United States was the first country to include PE courses as a graduation requirement in higher education. In 1861, Amherst College began to require students to take PE courses during each year of enrollment, and several universities began to offer PE courses (Cardinal et al., 2012). By the late 1920s and early 1930s, approximately 97% of colleges and universities had PE as a requirement for graduation, and by the 1960s, 84% to 87% of schools included PE as a required course (Lumpkin & Jenkins, 1993). However, over the past three decades, in U.S. higher education, the percentage of schools that require completion of PE as a graduation requirement has declined (Hensley, 2000), and the percentage was as low as 39.55% in 2010 (Cardinal et al., 2012). Poetry is an expression of feelings. A poem is a thing which could be either sing or sometimes at least hummable. Over the years, specific rules have been defined for the structures and categories of the poems which can help in making them lyrical and rhythmic, although, all languages might have their own rules for the poems. Poetry translations through machines (computer systems) are very crucial and considered to be impossible tasks. Most of the times, Poetry translation of English language to other native languages may become quite easy but vice-versa is the toughest. The reasons are varieties in structures, categories and own emotions of the native languages. Numerous efforts have been applied around the world towards the poetries machine translations from native languages into English. This research presents rigorous survey for such kinds of poetry machine translation systems and their quality and accuracy measurement techniques. It also gives an idea of Hindi (our national and main native) language poetry machine translations into English Language. Further, a deep analysis and sources (corpuses) have been discussed for existing Hindi to English Machine Translations systems. ABSTRACTBackgroundPrevious research has revealed that teaching self-efficacy could play a critical role in engaging students in integrated STEM education; however, teachers’ multiple identities in STEM education (i.e. implementers, disseminators, and designers) and their commitment with respect to the different identities have not been considered and *** study aimed to investigate STEM teachers’ self-efficacy and commitment as implementers, disseminators, and designers, and to explore the relationships between teachers’ self-efficacy and commitment with respect to the three ***629 secondary STEM teachers completed a questionnaire that included the items of teachers’ background information and 46 items to measure their self-efficacy and commitment with respect to the three *** compare the differences in teacher self-efficacy and commitment with respect to the three identities, repeated measures analyses of variance were used. A mixed-model analysis was conducted to examine the effects of both identity and experience with self-efficacy as a covariate on teacher commitment. Also, the structural equation modelling (SEM) method was employed to investigate the structural relationships within and between teacher self-efficacy and commitment with respect to the three *** results indicated that STEM teachers’ self-efficacy and commitment were influenced by their identities as well as their STEM teaching experience. STEM teachers’ self-efficacy and commitment to being implementers and designers were significantly higher than their self-efficacy and commitment to being disseminators. Additionally, the results of structural equation modelling indicated that teachers’ self-efficacy for the three identities was highly related, as was their commitment to the three identities.
