Integrating traffic cameras with deep learning facilitates real-time multi-camera vehicle path reconstruction, benefiting smart city initiatives such as traffic management and public safety. The high demands on latency, bandwidth, and privacy underscore the necessity of edge computing platforms. However, the continuous operation of compute-intensive deep learning algorithms on round-the-clock camera streams can exceed the compute and power capacities of edge data centers. Therefore, it is critical to strategically deploy and activate camera streams to balance compute demands with performance requirements. Currently, there is a lack of tools to support this planning process. This paper presents Seer, a comprehensive suite of tools and algorithms that aids traffic planners in optimizing traffic camera placement and deep learning model deployment, considering compute and budgetary constraints. Seer encompasses (1) a graph-based algorithm for efficient camera placement incorporating road network topology, (2) a collaborative algorithm for vehicle path reconstruction that enables the use of less accurate but resource-efficient deep learning models, and (3) a scalable traffic simulation framework derived from open-source projects that model city road networks. Evaluations of Seer on two real-world road networks, each with thousands of intersections and simulated vehicle paths, show a 6.3x reduction in compute requirements. This is achieved through a combination of sparse camera deployment and the use of lightweight models, with an average 55% increase in the Hausdorff distance for the path reconstruction algorithm, translating to an absolute increase of 135 to 195 meters.

Immunotherapy utilizes the potential of the patient's immune system to fight disease. T-lymphocytes have become the central focus of the immune system in the fight against cancer. One of the fundamental studies in immunotherapy is how to accurately identify various types of immune cells. Therefore, the study of immune-related cells will be an important reference for the treatment of COVID19 or other related diseases. In this paper, a series of experiments were conducted with COVID-19 patients as the starting point to design a strategy to identify the important subtypes of CD$4^{+}$T cells. In this paper, an intelligent machine learning algorithm is proposed according to the results of different experiments of linear and nonlinear dimension reduction algorithms, integrating the important characteristics of these two algorithms and improving the performance. Our experimental results show that the algorithm designed based on the front-end experiments can effectively distinguish the important lymphocytes. The proposed algorithm not only improves the performance, but also the dimension reduction procedure keeps the important features of both global and regional data. The experimental results of this paper will be beneficial for the subsequent analysis of the clustering in identifying important subtypes of CD$4^{+}$T cells. Most importantly, this wm significantly improve the procedure of manually integrating and labeling the recorded data after several tedious and monotonous analyses with external software. © 2023 IEEE.

The paper is motivated by the importance of the Smart Cities (SC) concept for future management of global urbanization. Among all Internet of Things (IoT)-based communication technologies, Blue-tooth Low Energy (BLE) plays a vital role in city-wide decision making and services. Extreme fluctuations of the Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI), however, prevent this technology from being a reliable solution with acceptable accuracy in the dynamic indoor tracking/localization approaches for ever-changing SC environments. The latest version of the BLE v.5.1 introduced a better possibility for tracking users by utilizing the direction finding approaches based on the Angle of Arrival (AoA), which is more reliable. There are still some fundamental issues remaining to be addressed. Existing works mainly focus on implementing stand-alone models overlooking potentials fusion strategies. The paper addresses this gap and proposes a novel Reinforcement Learning (RL)-based information fusion framework (RL-IFF) by coupling AoA with RSSI-based particle filtering and Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU)-based Pedestrian Dead Reckoning (PDR) frameworks. The proposed RL-IFF solution is evaluated through a comprehensive set of experiments illustrating superior performance compared to its counterparts.

Medical internet of things leads to revolutionary improvements in medical services, also known as smart healthcare. With the big healthcare data, data mining and machine learning can assist wellness management and intelligent diagnosis, and achieve the P4-medicine. However, healthcare data has high sparsity and heterogeneity. In this paper, we propose a Heterogeneous Transferring Prediction System (HTPS). Feature engineering mechanism transforms the dataset into sparse and dense feature matrices, and autoencoders in the embedding networks not only embed features but also transfer knowledge from heterogeneous datasets. Experimental results show that the proposed HTPS outperforms the benchmark systems on various prediction tasks and datasets, and ablation studies present the effectiveness of each designed mechanism. Experimental results demonstrate the negative impact of heterogeneous data on benchmark systems and the high transferability of the proposed HTPS. © 2023 IEEE.

Enhancing 3D Human Pose Estimation Amidst Severe Occlusion with Dual Transformer Fusion

In the field of 3D Human Pose Estimation from monocular videos, the presence of diverse occlusion types presents a formidable challenge. Prior research has made progress by harnessing spatial and temporal cues to infer 3D poses from 2D joint observations. This paper introduces a Dual Transformer Fusion (DTF) algorithm, a novel approach to obtain a holistic 3D pose estimation, even in the presence of severe occlusions. Confronting the issue of occlusion-induced missing joint data, we propose a temporal interpolation-based occlusion guidance mechanism. To enable precise 3D Human Pose Estimation, our approach leverages the innovative DTF architecture, which first generates a pair of intermediate views. Each intermediate-view undergoes spatial refinement through a self-refinement schema. Subsequently, these intermediate-views are fused to yield the final 3D human pose estimation. The entire system is end-to-end trainable. Through extensive experiments conducted on the Human3.6M and MPI-INF-3DHP datasets, our method’s performance is rigorously evaluated. In this research we aim to develop a computer-aided diagnostic system (CAD) for breast ultrasound imaging to enhance the early detection of breast cancer. CAD tools aid physicians in the diagnostic process leading to early detection and treatment of breast cancer. The proposed CAD tool comprises three stages, the first is enhancement of breast ultrasound imaging by applying custom segmentation deep learning architectures [U-Net, SK-U-Net, RDA-U-Net] to enhance the isolation of masses in Ultrasound images, then generation of new ultrasound images by employing Generative Adversarial Networks [DAGAN, DCGAN] to overcome data limitation in available data-sets, and the last stage is the detection and classification of breast cancer masses by a CNN model. The enhancement stage shows promising results with accuracy of 98 % overall accuracy, 92 % overall precision, and 85 % overall *** Relevance: Breast cancer is one of the deadly diseases in the world. The earlier the detection the higher the chances of recovery. Thus a CAD tool that facilitates the screening process of ultrasound images will aid physicians in the early detection and diagnosis of the disease. © 2023 IEEE.

The amalgamation of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) based systems with models built on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and computer Vision approaches have enabled several applications in urban planning and smart cities, such as remote health monitoring of roads and infrastructure. However, most of such existing models are trained and evaluated for clear lighting conditions, and they do not perform well under low visibility. This work proposes a fast and lightweight approach for deployment on UAV-based systems that can (i) detect the low-visibility condition in a road image captured by a UAV, and (ii) alleviate it and enhance the quality of the road image. The proposed approach achieves state-of-the-art results and thus establishes itself as an essential precursor to downstream computer Vision tasks related to remote monitoring of roads, such as identification of different distress conditions. © 2023 IEEE.

In current days,the domain of Internet of Things(IoT)and Wireless Sensor Networks(WSN)are combined for enhancing the sensor related data transmission in the forthcoming networking *** and routing techniques are treated as the effective methods highly used to attain reduced energy consumption and lengthen the lifetime of the WSN assisted IoT *** this view,this paper presents an Ensemble of Metaheuristic Optimization based QoS aware Clustering with Multihop Routing(EMOQoSCMR)Protocol for IoT assisted *** proposed EMO-QoSCMR protocol aims to achieve QoS parameters such as energy,throughput,delay,and *** proposed model involves two stage processes namely clustering and ***,the EMO-QoSCMR protocol involves crossentropy rain optimization algorithm based clustering(CEROAC)technique to select an optimal set of cluster heads(CHs)and construct ***,oppositional chaos game optimization based routing(OCGOR)technique is employed for the optimal set of routes in the IoT assisted *** proposed model derives a fitness function based on the parameters involved in the IoT nodes such as residual energy,distance to sink node,*** proposed EMOQoSCMR technique has resulted to an enhanced NAN of 64 nodes whereas the LEACH,PSO-ECHS,E-OEERP,and iCSHS methods have resulted in a lesser NAN of 2,10,42,and 51 *** performance of the presented protocol has been evaluated interms of energy efficiency and network lifetime.
