Noncovalent interactions on the electrocatalytic oxidation of ethanol on a Pt/C electrocatalyst

Due to their environmentally friendly nature and high energy density,direct ethanol fuel cells have attracted extensive research attention in recent ***,the actual Faraday efficiency of the ethanol oxidation reaction(EOR)is much lower than its theoretical value and the reaction kinetics of the EOR is sluggish due to insufficient active sites on the electrocatalyst ***/C is recognized as one of the most promising electrocatalysts for the ***,the microscopic interfacial reaction mechanisms of the EOR on Pt/C were systematically studied in this *** metal hydroxide solutions,hydrated alkali cations were found to bind with OH_(ad)through noncovalent interactions to form clusters and occupy the active sites on the Pt/C electrocatalyst surface,thus resulting in low Faraday efficiency and sluggish kinetics of the *** reduce the negative effect of the noncovalent interactions on the EOR,a shield was made on the electrocatalyst surface using 4-trifluoromethylphenyl,resulting in twice the EOR catalytic reactivity of Pt/C.

Perspectives on China’s Manned Lunar Scientific research and Test Station

China's lunar exploration efforts have been focused on developments in space that are sustainable. To this end, the country plans to construct a manned lunar scientific research station after successfully landing on the Moon, with the aim of ensuring long-term human survival on the lunar surface and developing and utilizing lunar resources. To achieve this goal, extensive research has been conducted on the development plans and current situation of manned lunar exploration. Based on the development law of human deep-space exploration, a goal of verifying human long-term, extraterrestrial survival technology and addressing challenges, while carrying out in-depth scientific research on the Moon and exploring its resources, is proposed. After analyzing the difficulties and development trends of the station's construction, possible incremental development plans and paths for the future are discussed. Considering the four major elements of strategy, science, engineering, and economics, and focusing on the safety requirements of manned spaceflight, a preliminary idea for selecting the station location is proposed. Finally, six key technologies and challenges are analyzed with the development plan. Overall, China's commitment to lunar exploration reflects its dedication to advancing scientific knowledge and technological capabilities, while also contributing to the long-term sustainability of human presence in space. © Chinese Society of Astronautics 2024. corrected publication 2024.

As a result of the increasing number of electronic devices and limited space on aircraft, the development of high-efficiency and small-sized power supply systems is necessary. The switched tank modular converter (STM) receives attention recently because of its high power density and efficiency, which is suitable for aircraft application. Full soft charging is achieved by connecting a small inductor in series with the flying capacitor compared to the traditional switched capacitor (SC). Zero current switching (ZCS) helps to reducing the power loss of the switches. However, further reduction of the overall size is hampered by the fact that the effect of switches and passive components on the total volume is unclear. In order to find the optimum total volume of the STM, a comprehensive volume modeling and optimization method is proposed in this paper based on the semiconductor power loss and resonant capacitor voltage ripple analysis. A 12V-6V, 10W, 3.85MHz STM prototype is fabricated to verify the proposed optimization method, which achieves 96% peak efficiency at rated power and 51.25 mm3 total volume. Three groups of switches and passive components collocation are designed and the optimum volume group is found while remaining the highest efficiency. © 2024 The Authors.

Container-based virtualization isbecoming increasingly popular in cloud computing due to its efficiency and *** isolation is a fundamental property of *** works have indicated weak resource isolation could cause significant performance degradation for containerized applications and enhanced resource ***,current studies have almost not discussed the isolation problems of page cache which is a key resource for *** leverage memory cgroup to control page cache ***,existing policy introduces two major problems in a container-based ***,containers can utilize more memory than limited by their cgroup,effectively breaking memory ***,the Os kernel has to evict page cache to make space for newly-arrived memory requests,slowing down containerized *** paper performs an empirical study of these problems and demonstrates the performance impacts on containerized *** we propose pCache(precise control of page cache)to address the problems by dividing page cache into private and shared and controlling both kinds of page cache separately and *** do so,pCache leverages two new technologies:fair account(f-account)and evict on demand(EoD).F-account splits the shared page cache charging based on per-container share to prevent containers from using memory for free,enhancing memory *** EoD reduces unnecessary page cache evictions to avoid the performance *** evaluation results demonstrate that our system can effectively enhance memory isolation for containers and achieve substantial performance improvement over the original page cache management policy.

CFD-based unsteady simulation and performance analysis of scroll compressor

The scroll compressor is an essential part of the heat pump air conditioning system in electric vehicles, with its performance and efficiency having a significant impact on the vehicle's range. This paper employs a combination of experimental and numerical simulations (using the dynamic mesh method) to study the scroll compressor in electric vehicles, exploring the effects of rotational speed and pressure ratio on compressor performance. The results reveal a significantly uneven temperature distribution across the chambers, primarily due to tangential leakage, which results in elevated temperatures in the central areas of the chambers and reduced temperatures near the meshing points. As the rotational speed increases, both the mass flow rate and the isentropic efficiency of the scroll compressor rise, whereas the discharge temperature declines;notably, discharge temperature drops by an average of 1.6 % for 600 r·min-1 increase in rotational speed. For each unit increase in the pressure ratio, the discharge temperature increases by an average of 12.22 K, while the mass flow rate decreases by 7.95 %. The study also shows that the isentropic efficiency initially rises with increasing pressure ratio, reaching a maximum of 67.06 % before starting to decline. These findings provide valuable insights into the performance characteristics of scroll compressors and offer theoretical support for optimizing compressor efficiency in practical applications. © 2024

Large-scale overlapping problems are a type of challenging problems because of the special structure of the shared variables. In order to solve the large-scale overlapping problems effectively, the paper proposes a novel cooperative co-evolutionary framework for large-scale overlapping problems called the cooperative co-evolution algorithm with subgroup merging and resource allocation for overlapping problems (CCMRO). In CCMRO, a contribution-based subcomponent merging strategy is proposed to deal with the decomposition of the large-scale overlapping problem and reduce the interaction of subgroups. In addition, a new computational resource allocation strategy (CCRO) is designed to maintain a balance between the full allocation of computational resources and the stability of search speed. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed CCMRO is verified by the large-scale overlapping benchmark functions. © 2023 IEEE.

The selection of chemical reactions is directly related to the quality of synthesis pathways,so a reasonable reaction evaluation metric plays a crucial role in the design and planning of synthesis *** reaction conditions also need to be considered in synthesis pathway design,a reaction metric that combines reaction time,temperature,and yield is required for chemical reactions of different reaction *** this study,a chemical reaction graph descriptor which includes the atom-atom mapping relationship is proposed to effectively describe ***,through pre-training using graph contrastive learning and fine-tuning through supervised learning,we establish a model for generating the probability of reaction superiority(RSscore).Finally,to validate the effectiveness of the current evaluation index,RSscore is applied in two applications,namely reaction evaluation and synthesis routes analysis,which proves that the RSscore provides an important agents-considered evaluation criterion for computer-aided synthesis planning(CASP).

The rare earth elements(REEs)extraction by chemical leaching from ion-adsorption type rare earth ores(IAREO)has led to serious ecological and environmental ***,demand for bioleaching is on the rise with the advantage of being *** one of the organic acids produced by biological metabolism,citric acid was used to leach REEs and explore the performance and *** results demonstrate that citric acid exhibits higher leaching efficiency(96.00%)for REEs at a relatively low concentration of 0.01 mol/L compared with(NH_(4))_(2)SO_(4)(84.29%,0.1 mol/L)and MgSO_(4)(83.99%,0.1 mol/L).Citric acid shows a preference for leaching heavy rare earth elements,with 99%leaching efficiency in IAREO,which shows higher capacity than(NH_(4))_(2)SO_(4)and MgSO_(4)(as inorganic leaching agents).Kinetic analysis indicates that the leaching process of REEs with citric acid is controlled by both the internal diffusion kinetics and chemical reaction kinetics,which is different from inorganic leaching *** Minteq calculations confirm that RE-Citrate is the main constituent of the extract solution in the leaching process of the IAREO,thereby enhancing the leaching efficiency of REEs from the *** suggests that citric acid may be used as a promising organic leaching agent for the environmentalfriendly extraction of REEs from IAREO.
